Really, you think people would cancel a holiday just to watch the Coronation?

Cheapest on my October 19 nighter is £2499.  We paid £1754, so will be interesting to see.

We would book a cheap cruise to avoid it

Yes. I was going to move mine if it fell on the date. It's not just the spectacle but all the celebrations at home.

I moved mine. I don't know if I'd have cancelled completely - actually I do - and I would! Jane xx

I'm surprised, as I'm sure it will be televised on board and I would expect some sort of celebration.  Me?  I will be watching it on my computer at work.

It's history Jean. Most of us will only be around for one!😉

Yes, although I was here for the last one I was only 6.  Yes of course I understand watching it, but I wouldn't cancel a holiday.  Anyway, these cheap cruises don't cover that time.

Perhaps their trying to secure some bookings before they announce they're selling her and cancel them.....

Whilst I can’t see Aurora being around for many more years, what would be the logic of that?

The very cheapest one is over the Coronation Jean. I can’t help but feel that the two issues are linked. I mentioned this to our TA this afternoon when I was trying to book and they seemed to agree.

Interesting.  You must be right.  Doesn't explain the July one though.

The 16 night Baltic cruise in May (over the Coronation) is half the price of the 16 night one in July. Total price for 2 in a balcony cabin (Saver) £1,998 in May, £3,958 in July.

I paid £3500 select in July, solo.  Prices are all over the place. Does not seem to be an optimum time to book  anymore.

I deliberately didn't book the Aurora cruise in question because of the Coronation

We have always booked on launch and never seen the price lower than we paid,, not unless it was a real last minute.  But those prices are very low for Aurora.  I wonder why.

I booked an Aurora cruise last week and there was lots of available balcony cabins.

Very useful although, oddly, I can’t see the price per night column until I press ‘quote’ when it then appears in the reply 🤔

Basic economics of supply and demand happening here. As with all cruise operators, P&O want cruises to be full as, once fixed costs are covered, the bulk of the profit will come from on board spend. P&O clearly have more supply (cabins) than they have demand at present, so prices have to fall to get occupancy levels to where they need to be. Great news for customers as there are some phenomenal bargains to be had. Less good news for the company though if they have to discount this heavily to fill the ships, especially with the debt mountain that they have to clear.

Just had a look at Aurora prices for a Baltic cruise this summer

Always difficult to compare like for like,  but our Princess cruise with a drink package is coming in considerably cheaper than Aurora,  but it is two days shorter.

Life is never easy !

Does anyone know when Summer 2025 cruises go on sale? I can’t remember when the last release was as we didn’t book anything. It’s going to be fascinating to see what the launch prices are like. It certainly seems that the days of the cheapest prices always being at launch may be over.

Would you risk booking on Aurora for 2025?

Oh dear, this made me depressed! Average per night on my three Aurora cruises is about £200! However that is select balcony single occupancy. Just checked current prices. One is sold out and the other two are more expensive. Feel a bit better now!

Of the 8 cruises that we have done on Aurora, only 3 have been £200 a night or less for the two of us and some have been considerably more (all Select price, balcony cabins, booked at launch). At the current prices we would be making bookings, but neither of the two that we were interested in had any availability for accessible cabins. The one that we liked most was just £125 a night, admittedly a Saver but they could have only put us in one of 8 cabins and we’ve stayed in 7 of them!

Wish I liked the big new ships as it would save me a lot of money. However, I don't like them so  have to pay the price of the small (preferably adults only)  ones. Just glad thry are still here. But for how long?!
