Review of Ultra experience on Mardi Gras

Hmm. Ultra cocktail party was a fail.

Two waiters to serve drinks for the entire room which had well over 200.

All I wanted was a glass of wine but they walked around with screwdrivers and margaritas.  I took it out of desperation and never saw another waiter.

Snacks were okay.

Who was the host

I don’t remember.

I spoke with one of the ladies who was an organizer.  She said she’s already spoken with the bar manager and more servers were coming.  They showed up when it was over.

What ULTRA letter did you get and what was the prize?

This is my first time.  I don’t know what letter you’re asking about but the prizes are a roomba (which I’d love) or nesting camera (which I’ve never heard of and don’t want).  I pick up my prize later today.

So far, we received 2 ultra card lanyards.

It looks like most of the drawings are held really late at night past my bedtime. I will try to stay awake.

Is the Ultra party only on Mardi Gras? We are going on the legend and wondered if it was happening there?

My Ultra offer says there are two for the Legend Oct 14th and Nov 6th

It’s on any ship which you receive an ultra offer.   The cocktail party was first day at 4:30.

I booked this ultra offer for what I feel was standard pricing for a balcony at 900+ pp.  No OBC, no free play included.  Only DOU in casino for me and DH.

I definitely get better offers but wanted to see what an Ultra offer was all about.  As someone else stated on another thread is that I’d have been better off going on my free cruise offers and spending $1800 in the casino.  Probably true.

Thank you, I know it's not on our upcoming cruise now. I thought it might have been something they were just doing as a promotion to get people into the casino. Ours is in a week, so no ultra for us.😪

Anyone can sail on Ultra cruises (they're not full ship charters or anything like that) but only those booked under the Ultra offer get to participate in the drawings, prizes, etc.

I have never done an ultra cruise either.... from previous threads it sounded like there was a wheel with U-L-T-R-A  letters on it, you spin the wheel and win the corresponding prize for that letter. Perhaps they are not doing it that way anymore

I think I misspoke. The choices were not a Roomba or a nesting camera. Maybe those are prizes for later. I went to my assigned time and the punchline to collect my prize.

they are checking IDs and you walk through the door and they give you a Mamosa or champagne.

Then you pick from a box with a bunch of envelopes.

you take your envelope to the front area and they have you decide what your prize is. My choices were $750 in fun play, a iPhone 13, or some kind of luggage. I took the 750 fun play.

I didn’t think I did too bad, because there smaller amounts, like $250, all the way up to $1000.

Day 2. Went to the casino for the Ultra only drawing at 400 pm. I was playing but I don’t think you have to.  Sadly, my name wasn’t called although they did call a few names of people who weren’t there.

Received one of those low sitting beach chairs.

Received nothing for Ultra on Tuesday but received a whole mess of cookies (8) on Wednesday.

Between the two sets of Platinum cookies and the Ultra cookies, I’m glad that I brought along some ziplock bags because there’s no way we’re eating all these. 😁

We just got off today and it was the worst cruise that we have ever been on, in our opinion.

Food, service and entertainment were all a flop.

Curious, how much did you pay for this horrendous cruise?

Those cookies are good! They give cookies to Plats now instead of the chocolate delight? News to me.

Yes.  I’m not a fan of the strawberries and smeared chocolate plate.

You may request the cookies (4) instead.

Good to know. Going forward my wife and I may order one of each.

Hmm.  That’s interesting.

We’re docked in Grand Turk and the casino says it’s open now. For 24 hours.

Yes, Grand Turk allows cruise ships to keep their casinos open.

Wow. Been here a bunch of times and never knew that.

It can be a good time to schmooze the casino hosts and play the games that are often too busy at night.
