Have you ever NOT had a roll call thread for your cruise?

Absolutely. Try to understand what I wrote. It is a trick question.

Of course you like Roll Calls with Slot Pull, but do you participate or organize?

Come on!!!!!!!  Would I like "Roll Calls" with "Slot Pulls" in them if I didn't participate in them?  Really?

No, I don't organize, I don't have the patients for that kind of thing.  Too many stupid people in the world.  Not that I think I'm a genius.  Not even close.  I make far too many mistakes.

Organizers get Casino points because you and others play and their card is scanned.

I didn't know they even still had the roll call threads here on CC... I often head the FB groups for our cruises and they usually have upwards of 800-1000 folks in them. I love CC and have been here many years, but it's just a lot easier/more colorful to host groups over there where you can have photo albums, events, etc.!

I jus5 find fellow CC members more knowledgeable, lots of fluff and nonsense on any FB groups I’ve been part of, I just don’t anymore.  I’d rather meet up or share excursions with my CC family.

Just curious if anyone has been on a sailing and not had a roll call thread for it, or not had anyone reply to one that you started? We find it odd that none had been started for Navigator OTS 10-16-2023, so we started one. Are there just a lot more CC members that prefer to lurk, than post? Thoughts please?

There wasn't one for Independence in a week (April 24) so I started one.

I think reason is not only Covid.

You are saying that you do not read or post, so you do not see that meetings are organized by  groups too.

Not sure I understand your response to Island lady.  She said she does not read or post on the other website.  I agree with her that the demise of the Meet and Mingle did kill the roll calls on this site.  And yes on the other sites groups do organize their own but that was not the case here as they were organized by Royal Caribbean.

Not only that the Blatantly inaccurate and wrong information has caused me to quit joining them

Simple. Not many people were signing for M&M because of other groups.

Otherwise Royal would continue

I have found if a longer cruise over 7 days more respondents to a roll call (ie transatlantics or Repositioning.).  MAYBE Alaska.  Since the restart, I go to FB as there's definitely more traffic and less policing/monitoring, and a better ability to reach out to contact other fellow travelers.  If I wanted to share a private excursion, its much easier on social media then here.  This is a problem on here with the roll calls as less people are going to use.  People on fb don't like the cc roll calls in general or cc.  So if you want to reach out to fellow cruisers, social media is probably the way to go.  Roll calls are probably not moving forward.

Cost.  Gifts, putting aside a lounge, putting out snacks and coffee, and taking up time by an officer and food service crew members for the event.

suggestions There are sooo many cost cutting things going on with RCI right now, this is just one of many.

Yet NCL still do them. But you are right. It's all about cost and time

My cruise has roll call but I find the FB group easier to navigate. All the questions, answers, suggestions and general post are all lumbered in one thread. On the social media page you have different posts so you can find things easier. Plus there are more photos on there than here.

Will roll calls on CC be non existent in the future? Who knows but FB are more popular and that's an outlet which is on the decline compared to other social media apps.

I really miss the CC roll calls how they used to be a few years ago, met some nice people through them. I've been joining the FB ones since before Covid but they never seem to be quite the same, I actually have more trouble finding things than in a single thread on here.

I actually thought we might get a decent roll call for our Panama Canal cruise in Nov on Serenade but even that is currently very quiet.

All my Navigator roll calls have been ghostly quiet or non existent.  Roll call threads seem to be dying off.

This is my experience. I've looked at a few FB roll calls and the amount of bad information presented is catastrophic. CC is the best place for accurate and up to date info.  The average poster on this forum knows more about Royal's policies and procedures than most Royal employees, both on ship and land.

The only time I remember was when I did a 3 night on the Disney Dream.  Otherwise, all other times there was a roll call. (btw, I remember you guys from a previous sailing; hope you're well).

No one young is on Facebook

Well, there you go.  I guess that's why I went back recently after about a 3-year hiatus.  Oh well!  It is what it is.  LOL
