Vaccine proof for Alaska cruise leaving from Vancouver

Hello

a friend is looking to take an Alaska cruise in September leaving from Vancouver but her mom isn’t vaccinated.  It’s confusing online if you need to be. It looks like the princess line doesn’t require proof but maybe US customs will for non-US citizens? They are Canadian.

anyone know for sure?

thanks

No she won't need to be vaccinated.  The US is only requiring that for foreign travelers entering by air.
Edit to add: she might need to be if she flies into the states.
But cruises from Vancouver would be fine.

that’s what I thought but last paragraph of Princess site says this. It’s confusing.

I've looked all over the state department website and the CDC and can't find anything that pertains to cruisers.  The verbiage is specifically targeted at people flying into the states.  And Alaska says they don't require the vaccine to travel to their state.  Your best option would be to contact the state dept. and ask them to clarify for you.

It is not required. We sailed from Vancouver last September.

Thanks for all the comments.

they tried the checking noted above but it’s too early.

it’s so weird the only source suggesting you must be vaccinated is Princess’ own site.

It’s a bummer if it’s just an outdated site.

It is generally based on what the ports require. Currently if you are traveling to US ports and Canada there are no ports requiring vaccination or testing. Last month on a Panama cruise Colombia required either proof of vaccination or negative test to board

Leaving from Canada to USA:-

Do I need to be vaccinated to enter the United States?

Yes. Only Canadians who have been double vaccinated for at least 2 weeks (and can provide proof of vaccination) will be allowed into the United States. The United States will be accepting proof of any vaccine recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO), including the Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca vaccines as well as mixed doses of those vaccines.

Makes sense. Still seems so odd to me Princess would have that “mis”information on their main website for Covid information if it’s not accurate. 🤷

Yup. We all know how well Princess keeps their website up to date and is always consistent. 😅

As stated in #3.

From Princess website:-

Note that guests who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents are required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in order to enter the United States by cruise or by air travel. These U.S. entry requirements are separate from our cruise protocols.

So weird how confusing this is! Seems like something that would be very clear. 😁

When we sailed last Fall from Vancouver to Alaska, we had to download our “vaccination certificate” to the Medallion App.

I agree with all of you that this is confusing however, that may all change soon as rumours are floating around the USA are about to drop this requirement soon ???  Cross your fingers.

As stated in #5 “go and get your shot”. We have received 5 booster shots so far and were still living and all is well.  😀

thanks. For the record I’ve had 5 vaccine shots. I agree with your general sentiment.

At this point Canadians are required to be vaccinated regardless of air, land, or sea entry. Whether that changes May 11th or if it being enforced is anyone's guess.

DHS requires vaccinations for Canadians and Mexicans for land, sea, and air travel entering the US. This may or may not change May 11th. It has nothing to do with what the ports require
