What did you tell guest services when you got the extra keys?  That you lost your original key(s), or the truth (that there was a room switch)?

Extra keys we just asked.  They didn’t need a reason.  When we actually switched sail and sign cards told the truth.

None of that is relevant to marketing offers.

Many folks on this thread have been asking how much to play on the ship to get casino offers.  No one except you is limiting the discussion to "marketing" offers.

Nobody really knows what the man behind the curtain is up to...

Suffice it to say, the more you play (or, yes, even the more you lose), the better the chance you have at receiving offers.

Having said that - there are exceptions, where low/no players get offers - in hopes of getting more play out of them down the road... and where people who play (even a lot) get NADA. One of life's great mysteries !!

This is true.  As individual cruisers, all we can really do is observe and report how much we played and how our follow-on casino offers change (if at all).  Carnival slot players have long had access to info about their casino points, a measure of how much they have played and an indicator to the casino of how much the player will likely lose over time.  Now, Carnival table players also have almost real time access to their point totals, so we too can get an idea of how much the casino thinks we have played and lost.  To me, this is valuable info, and I will continue to record these points numbers for my wife and I after every cruise and measure that against subsequent casino offers.

People want to justify offers as rewards for spending $$ in the casino as well as being outraged that someone who spends less gets the same or better offers.  The casino doesn't care what you spent last time, they are interested in what you can spend next time.  Much of that can be predicted via personal information easily found or bought on the internet.  People would be/should be shocked at who sells your personal data.

And I say that the best indicator of what you will spend in the ship’s casino next time is what you spent in the ship’s casino the last time.    My wife spent more in the ship’s casino on her May cruises, and she got a better casino offer in June.  Was there some other reason for the increased casino offer?  Possibly, but not likely.  My wife did nothing in May or early June that would change her “personal information” on the internet or her credit history.  We didn’t buy a house, we didn’t file for bankruptcy,  her credit score didn't change, and our income didn’t change either.  Her “personal information” is not an explanation for her improved casino offer.

You and I obviously disagree, and there is no point in beating this dead horse further. I will stop posting on this thread now.

I like to gamble, but I can't be bothered with switching room keys, playing on one card, or asking for an extra card.  I bring a set amount to gamble and I'm ok with losing it.

My husband plays, but not as much as I do, and he doesn't do max bet.

We both get offers, but mine are better. I recently came off the Horizon and have 2 more cruises booked that were port fees and taxes only, balcony cabins, onboard credit and DOU everywhere on the ship.

From what I've learned for some Atlantic City Hosts, land casinos look at how much coin in you put through a machine, and length of time played. Years ago they wanted 4 hours per day, but I'm not sure if that's still true.

I would think the requirements would be the same on cruises but I also found on another cruiseline that they give offers to the top percentage of players. We were on an Alaskan cruise and there were not many people in the casino for the entire cruise. I got a letter in my cabin to go to the future cruise desk and pick out any cruise for port fees and taxes only.  I had a year to take the cruise.  Although not a high roller, I guess I played enough to get an offer like this and it hasn't happened since.

Which cruise line gave to top % of players?

Of course, “the more you play” really means  the more you are virtually certain to ultimately lose.

You are right.  I don't understand what you are talking about.  I book our cruises, not my wife.  Pure nonsense and misdirection.

Elaine stands firm in her belief that past play doesn't matter, amid countless stories of experience otherwise.  I use my own experience to tell me that is false, and just go with that.  😉

I have a much similar experience to yours, where my partner and I were receiving similar offers, until one cruise when I gambled a lot less, and mysteriously my offers declined, while my partners did not, with no other changes to data points.  Her wife theory doesn't hold any ground, since we're both the wife.  😆

Proves the point.. you got offers and booked offers.  There are thousands of data points used to target potential guests.  You can argue this bit or that but in the casino marketing database, your "persona" is filled out via demographics.

A couple of years before COVID I cancelled an Elite sailing, shortly after that I sailed on a casino promo and "no played" them. Did I feel a little bit guilty? Sure, a tad. For a couple of years after that - I was not getting squat as far as offers go.

I have noticed that, in the last couple of years, they have been throwing out the DOU Everywhere a LOT more often than they used to (for many people). The ONLY time I had that offer prior to COVID was on the Elite sailing I cancelled -- and that was following several 5 figure win/loss sailings playing BJ.

Every single offer I get now is DOU everywhere, free balcony cabin,  casino $$, etc.  My dd - who doesn't gamble nearly what I do - is getting DOU in the casino, discounts and fun play. And my dh - who went on one cruise a year ago for the first time in 5 years and hardly gambled - is getting free insides, etc.  No rhyme or reason - but keep those offers coming CCL!

I gave up trying to figure out the casino comps. My wife, who hardly gambles because she hates to lose, gets amazing offers like free balcony cabins, DOU and OBC. I, on the other hand, plays thousands and get nothing...nothing...

Oh well, at least one of us gets deals. Two of our cruises last year were free 🙂

I think that's why they give us free drinks. Super excited when I'm winning or it doesn't hurt so much when I'm losing...😆
