I really liked Choir of Man.  Get there early enough and share a beer with the cast as part of the show.

Sure, enough beer and you might not notice you're spending your evening watching a bunch of bearded burly men poorly singing cliche 80's tunes and dancing with mops.

My favorite show on NCL!

We saw it first in the supper club on Escape on my wife's birthday in 2018 and she was the one called up on stage and serenaded to.

Just an awesome night and show!

We've seen it on Encore too in the theater and while it loses a little intimacy, it's still a fun show.

It surprises me when someone doesn't like it because it's very rare.

Saw the show six times on the Encore the first two cruises out of Miami in 2019. Just a fun show and nothing serious about it.  Saw it again on the Encore this past fall still really enjoyed it. One night the narrator went up and got me a beer and brought it to me.

Choir of Man is up there.  I also loved the Million Dollar Quartet.

Jersey Boys is always a good time.  Burn the Floor is fun.  But, I've seen it way too many times.  LOL!

Six?  Not my cup of tea but I could see the appeal.

i really hope you dont book  a cruise, based on the shows

Having Million Dollar Quartet was what tipped the scales to pick the cruise we did. Does anyone know if it is being cut? Or, what nights it is playing, so I can make dinner reservations?

Thanks!

I'm that rare person.  Beer drinking/drinkers holds no appeal to me.  The first time we saw it (paying extra) DH was brought up on stage for the beer...so that part was fun (for him).  I'm sure we'll sit thru it again in Sept...just because it's there.

On the other hand....I go to B'way/Lincoln Center about twice a month.  That being said, I don't do cruises for "award winning entertainment".  As long as the cast can sing better than me, and dance better than me, I'm good.

You should be able to see if it's still on the schedule with your cruise reservation.  But it probably won't have the times and dates.

Not that rare apparently, there are at least two of us in this small thread.

Seems to me getting a 'free beer' at a show loses a wee bit of it's appeal when you are on a boat featuring "all you can drink."

Touche....

And I've already said..."if I want to see a bunch of guys sitting around drinking beer and getting drunk, I could just go to any bar on the ship"!

How many times have you seen the show?

Thanks.  It is on the planner, but reservations aren't available.

"How many times?"  You mean people are willing to sit through that more than once?

In preparing for my cruise, I wanted to see if it was worth booking so I watched a video of it.  I think I probably stomached watching about 15 minutes of it before I gave up.

In other words you haven't seen it or even been on a cruise yet.

regarding comedians… do you have an itinerary that does not begin or end in the USA?

NCL makes it a practice not to book comedians on many “international” itineraries because they believe there are language and cultural barriers… comedians don’t play well with an international crowd, they believe.

i think that’s wackadoodle nonsense, but there it is.

It might be more that there are few US comedians who are funny enough to bridge the cultural divide. I’ve seen howl at the moon on a few cruises and there was definite variation in entertainment level. The first cruise I went on the 3 pianists were so good and funny that it was standing room only each night they were on. Another cruise the players were so busy showing off how many instruments they could play that they weren’t really interested in vibing with their audience which got smaller each night, eventually to less than 20 people in the room.

I agree with NW Pacific.  We are Diamond as well, have been sailing Norwegian exclusively since 2002.

We loved the Jean Ann Ryan productions back in the day.  Now that we are older we aren't so much into partying all night, though we stayed up dancing (until they stopped playing music) the first night onboard, a year ago April in the Bliss Lounge on the Dawn.

We normally try to make the Welcome Aboard Show, The Farewell Show, most all of the productions in between, and love to stop in the lounges at night when there is live music.  Have been to Syd's, Howl at the moon, Beatles, Illusionarium, and have enjoyed some of their comedians.  We even enjoy their Atrium entertainment and poolside shenanigans.

Our next cruise is on the Pearl in October, really not showing any evening entertainment options.

I believe we all have different ideas of what entertainment means to us, but NCL will eventually regret not offering evening entertainment.  Not everyone wants to drop a donation in the casino every evening.

Not sure how we will respond if they discontinue live shows.

Our last 2 Howl(post covid) were Europe,  they were very heavy on the tips for songs.

Needs enough Americans with loose pockets to work.

A lot of American ship comedy does not travel well the sport and political stuff often does.

(Good UK ship comedy is also a struggle)

I have noticed the cast Syd show has set the format for the party lounge band and other entertainment  the themed sets are creeping around with same set lists on each ship.

Might have been like this before just missed it.
