Join The Bird on the inaugural voyage of NCL’s newest ship, the Norwegian Viva. The Norwegian Viva is the second of six Prima Class ships delivering from 2022 to 2027. This 4-day short break from Miami features port calls in Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas. The Viva is the second NCL ship to be built at the Fincantieri shipyard near Venice, Italy. NCL took delivery of the Viva on August 9, 2023, and she was christened in Miami earlier this week on November 28, 2023 by Grammy nominated, and five-time Latin Grammy winning singer, songwriter, musician and producer, Luis Fonsi,

The Viva will spend the winter sailing the Southern Caribbean out of San Juan before returning to Europe with cruises out of Civitavecchia-Rome, Lisbon, and Trieste.

The Viva has a double occupancy capacity of 3100 guests and 1506 crew members. NCL boasts that the Viva has the most outdoor deck space of any new ship in the contemporary and premium cruise categories, the most spacious accommodations for a new cruise ship, and the highest staffing levels. Outdoors space includes the 44,000 sq ft Ocean Boulevard (Waterfront) with dining and sundeck space that wraps around the ship.

The ship has 1586 guest staterooms including 107 Haven, 36 suites, 48 Club Balcony, 946 balcony, 124 ocean view, 252 inside staterooms, and 73 studio rooms. The Haven was designed by Italian designer, Piero Lissoni. The Haven has an aft-facing infinity pool, two level sun deck and outdoors spa.

Come along with The Bird on this inaugural cruise of the revolutionary Norwegian Viva!

Looking forward to your review as we sail on Viva this coming February as well.

Liked your cabin numbers breakdown - interesting as one of the comments I read previously stated the Prima/Viva Havens had “so many more  cabins than the larger BA ships” And that does not appear to be the case as the Escape Haven has around 98 cabins.
You sail in a variety of cabin types on various ships - what cabin are you sailing in for this Viva cruise?

Your commentary and observations are always interesting.

Happy cruising 😎

After Haven, are you able to report the order that they call the different groups to board? Do Platinum and up go before Priority? Thanks for taking us along @BirdTravels! Enjoy your cruise.

Today in the Gen Pop it was handicapped, Diamond and Sapphire, then Platinum. I believe Priority came after that. We were onboard at 11am (Sapphire). Deck 16 cabin was ready at 1pm.

Today’s timing was not normal because the last cruise was a one night cruise to nowhere with a small number of vip guests.

Following your trip report, we board on Weds. Could you verify what toiletries are provided in standard cabins? Specifically if body lotion is provided? Thank you!

NCL uses shower gel and shampoo/conditioner squirt dispensers.
