compare these 3 hotels near Port Everglades?

Recommended Posts

Embassy Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Hyatt Place(10th St.)

(and maybe Extended Stay America Premier Suites)

Anyone stay at either one lately? Is there much difference between them - for 1 or 2 nights pre-cruise, seniors, no car. Comments welcomed.

E.S, Huge, crowded, elevators on cruise morning, 5-10 min wait. lines for breakfast 50-60 people. Rooms are very, very dated. this was 2 years ago.

Holiday Inn, was just OK for 1 night stay, 3 years ago. Nothing special.

Hyatt Place is the nicest of the 3 by a bunch. Very friendly staff. If you arrive early they will try to get you into a room as soon as possible. Smaller hotel, Ok breakfast, rooms are slightly dated, and I mean slightly, but always clean. We have been to this hotel over 6-7 times and have it booked 2 nights pre, and 2 nights post cruise this May. It is very close to the Harbor shops and other restaurants, 2-3 short blocks walk. They also do shuttles in the morning to the port for $ 8-9 pp. You can book it online thru a site called Valutrips.com for $ 109 or $119 a night from May thru November. Other months it is quite a few $$$ more. There are a few black out dates at the bottom of the page.

is there a particular reason why you aren't including the other two big hotels on 17th St, the Renaissance and the Hilton Marina? Depending on the time of year, and therefore the hotel pricing, these two can be excellent alternatives to the three you have referenced. We have stayed at the Renaissance a number of times when it has been lower priced than the Hyatt Place, and it is a large, full service hotel, even closer to the port, and IMHO better than the Hyatt Place and Holiday Inn. We haven't yet stayed at the ES, given all the reviews here on CC. Taxi from FLL to the 17th hotel strip is around $20 =/-

Cab fare is about $15. it is only 2.5 miles away. I have never seen Renaissance. or Hilton Marina cheaper than H.P. thru Valutrips. They are usually $200 a night Friday or Saturday. Escruiser, the hotels along 17th street are all OK or better. Embassy Suites is about the worst, and its really Ok for 1 night. The thing is most along this street are much better. We like Hyatt Place, clean, good location, close to food, 2 wine stores only 2 blocks away. Very close to the port. We will not stay anywhere else after 10-12 cruises from Ft. Lauderdale.

Thank you nhraformula00! I just booked DoubleTree 25 min out in Plantation FL area. The bad reviews scared me too much. lol We have our vehicle, are driving in from northern Florida, and will park at the port during our cruise.

How does the Riverside Hotel (and that area) compare to Hyatt Place and the others? We’ve stayed in the Danai Beach area in the past but would like to stay pre/post cruise in a more walkable area for restaurants, etc, at a hotel with a  decent pool and bar.

Hyatt looks closer to Celebrity terminal, but Riverside is on the River Walk?

I have stayed at both. Hyatt house was okay because I got a good price NY weekend through Value Trips. If you are just coming in for the night and arriving mid/ late afternoon then HH would be good.

I actually stay either 2 days before or after to stay at the Riverside. Not only is it on the River Walk it is on Los Olas which is basically the oldest part of downtown ( in a good way) lots of  restaurants  to choose from at all price ranges , shops, galleries. Water taxi stop there.
3 bars on premises and a piano lounge in the lobby most nights. Fun watching the boats on the river.

Danai Beach is now a better option than previously.  New shopping/dining area adjacent to Hyatt House has lots of options IMO.

Just spent a night (May 3rd) at Hyatt Place. Still a favorite however only one of the elevators was working. Caused us no real problems.

Yes...Thanks. It was March 3rd. After 14 nights at sea and a week visiting grandkids I was just having a senior moment.
