Upgrading into a Suite

What are the rules in regards to winning an upgrade into a suite? Do you get the normal 2 cruise credits?

1. Will I receive all the amenities of a Reserve Collection Mini Suite or a full suite if I am upgraded to such categories?
   Yes! You will receive all the amenities of the upgraded stateroom category. However, you will not receive double cruise credits for a full suite with the upgrade.

We always book casino rates and even when upgrading from a free balcony (not by bidding we pay when we book) we have always gotten the double credit. However once you are elite it really doesn’t matter

Well, I guess I'm not surprised...but that just seems like another item that Princess is "taking away" from us...even though it may very well not have been a valid perk.

From past experience (not recent):

 

If you were "upgraded" for free, you do not receive the double suite cruise credits.

 

If $$$ were involved due to a bid or upgrade offer,  you WERE given the credit.

 

This may have changed.

Well that's what I would have thought! As I stated in the OP, I bid for and won a suite upgrade. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how they mark it...

this was an 'upsell' we took to a suite - our one and only so far - and that 'complimentary' completed cruise put us at the highest level for our next cruise.  I had to inquire about it and P stated its' not normal, but they would add it on in this case only, not in the future.

We bid for an upgrade and did NOT get two credits.  We even spoke to someone who said no.  The fine print does outline that bidding does not give you the extra credit.

Princess stopped giving double credits for full suite upgrades even before the Covid shutdown.  It used to be that if you got one of the old offers to upgrade and accepted it you would get the double cruise credits.  Then they stopped doing it automatically but would add the second credit if you reached out to Captain's Circle.  Then they stopped allowing it entirely and this practice was continued with the new bidding for upgrades program.  The only way to get the double credit is to book a suite outright.

The one time we took an upsell to a suite, we did get double cruise credits. But then Princess changed the policy to where only passengers who book a suite initially get double cruise credits.
