Elation to sail from San Diego year round

:( As great as Ecstasy was, Carnival Pride was perfection. Now I don't think I could settle for anything less than Spirit class.:(

Even though the Elation and Ecstacy are the same class of ship. My opinion.....Ecstacy does not even come close to the Elation. She's one classy ship...

Phroggie.... the Elation is not replacing the Pride. The Pride will still sail out of Long Beach. The Elation will sail out of San Diego....or did I just misunderstand your post?

I really like this news from Carnival. Glad to hear the Elation is moving back to where it should be. And a possible 5 nighter to Cabo is totally worth it!!!

And finally Carnival is doing a Panama Canal cruise(and it stops at Aruba!!)!!!!!!!!! It's been too long, hopefully I'll be able to go. Carnival should do Panama Canal cruises every year, even if it's not a repositioning cruise and just goes back and forth.

I received the FAX notification from CCL last night. I was booked on the Elation for 5/26/07. I booked this one specifically because the Fantasy cruise we sailed on out of PC in July managed to SKIP Half Moon Cay - we WANTED to go to HMC...:(

OK - so let's give the WEST COAST another Fantasy class ship... They already have TWO Spirit class ships (out of the 4 that exist) - so the line needs to be drawn there as the Spirit class ships are our favorite! We know that they will not be sending a Conquest class ship there due to the limits of the current canal (which is going to be widened in the future) - as I can't picture them sending any around the southern tip of Africa or South America!

We can just sit back and wait to see what ship might be added back to PC - if any

I would generally agree; however, since the recent retrofit of the Ecstasy she is much more up to date than the Elation. The new furniture and flat screen TV's in all the cabins are very nice. At this point in time I'd prefer the Ecstasy although the Elation is one of my favorites. Can't go wrong either way.:)

We were booked on the Spirit for a repositioning several years ago and got cancelled when they kept the ship on the West Coast. I would love to do the Panama Canal with Carnival, except this class does not have many balconies.

I'm sure they will replace the Elation at Port Canaveral, it's such a great port, but so is San Diego:) DH will flip out when I call him and tell him I want to add just one more cruise for 2007:D

Have you checked with your TA or your PVP yet to see what they're planning for you? I'm interested to hear what you end up with. I know it's a little disappointing, but once you get over the initial adjustment to the revised plans, I 'm sure you'll be able to start getting excited all over again. You will be cruising, so how bad can that be?;)

The west coast only has one Carnival Spirit class ship in the summer (Pride)

The Spirit moves to Alaska all Summer, with the exception of Hawaii.

So in the summer all we have as far as Carnival is the Pride for any cruise longer then 4 days.

I have a CruiseCritic Group planned for August 27, 2007- or should I say I HAD a group cruise planned.

Agent got no press releases from Carnival as of this moment.

I guess I have to sit tight and wait and see what happens.

After looking through the availabilty for that time from I see I can chose Inspiration or the Facination. hmmmmm

There is an article on CC front page, under "today on CruiseCritic" about this. "San Diego Nets First Year Round Ship".

They have a statement from a Carnival representative that people booked on the Elation will be contacted with their options including booking a different cruise or getting a full refund.

This person goes on to say Carnival has not decided whether there will be a replacement ship for ther Elation at Port Canavarel

I didn't think I would be either being a big Elation fan, but they were great as it turns out. It took a couple of days of observing from my HQ (atrium bar) that I realized that the colors changed from day to day and perhaps from early evening to late. Now I have to determine the pattern. I'll do that next week. Of course after a few foo-foo's I'll probably give up.:)

Two more differences: They now have hot reuben sandwiches on the Ecstasy and Elation still didn't as of a few months ago. Also the skylights on the Ecstasy are clear which allows more light during the day into the atrium.

Either are great!:)

Ok you are right.....west coast has 2 Spirit class ships ( although not year round) and now with the Elation 2 fantasy class........hmmm how many ships does the east coast have...

We just want a little more options that's all... otherwise we have to turn to the other lines...

Hmmm...maybe I'll have to give her another try. Sounds good. Although I don't know if I can talk the rest of the family into it.

If you can, take some pictures and post them on here. That way I may be able to confince them LOL!

Have fun!!

Ok just got off my phone with my PVP and have booked another cruise out of PC for a day after I was supposed to cruise on the Elation. We are now booked on the Sensation for Oct 14,2007 out of PC....Hope everyone else gets theirs straightened out. Now we will be going on a 4 day instead of a 5 day.. But that is alright. A cruise is a cruise lol....Good Luck everyone

My family and I had 6 cabins booked for the Elation 8/9, i am in the process of choosing something else now...looks like it will be a 3 day Sensation or Fascination...I was really looking forward to HMC:(

Is Carnival asking you to re book on another ship? Sounds like they won't be replacing the Elation with another ship...

Man, I am really disappointed. My family lives an hour away from Port Canaveral and just started getting into cruising this past year, on the Fantasy and the Sensation. I was planning to book the Elation for next September and was really excited about the five day itinerary that included Grand Turk and HMC (both would be new ports for us). Guess I will wait and see what Carnival does, but what a bummer! :(

RVRGIRL - Yes they are asking us to book on another ship, they have made no plans to replace that particular itinerary as of yet. This is from what my travel agent told me and a Cruise Specialist at Carnival I called them directly to see what they had to say about everything.
