My Daughter and her fiance will be getting married July 2006, they are thinking of staying at one of the Sandals in St. Lucia for the honeymoon. Any information would be helpful. Which is the nicest one? They just want to hang out on the beach. What is the weather like late July? They are looking for an all inclusive.

 

We were in St. Lucia for a little while last Feb. on a cruise and we fell in love with it. Imagine living in paradise and going to paradise (Hawaii) for vacation. You are one lucky gal.

Don't be so envious of me. On my last trip to Hawaiii I caught the worst cold that I have ever had in my 37 years on this planet.. Of course I never knew that Hilo, Hawaii was the wettest place in the USA and that it rained 360 days of the year and we missed the five dry days!!!!:eek: I have been back for three weeks and my hubby still has a hacking cough!:eek: Still think I,m so lucky??? Hmmmm..:)

 

Congratulations on your daughter's upcoming nuptials, I am sure that you must be so proud! And I have to concur (since I was not born here, but in Trinidad) that St. Lucia is simply beautiful!!

 

If your daughter is looking for an "all inclusive", you have to tell me what her interests are. There are several "all inclusive" properties here and although I am afffliated with Sandals, I am hesitant to say that they are the best, since it is all relative. It all depends on her persuasions, expectations, past experiences with "all inclusives", and most important what will be value for money..cause "it ain't cheap"!! LoL.

 

Just a "heads up" that late July is considered hurricane season..HOWEVER..given St. Lucia's location at 14 degrees N and 61 degree W, we are a bit too far south to be considered "the hot zone" or the "ring of fire".. but it's still a consideration and I like to "keep it real". Having said that, we are NOT like Hilo Hawaii where it rained EVERY DAY!!!, we do have brief merciful showers which keep us cool and even tempered!!:D So while she should be mindful, she should not obsess, I have lived here for 10 years..nary a hurricane, although I would have killed for some excitement!:rolleyes:

 

If you want email me your address and I will pick up some brochures from all 3 Sandals and other quality "all inclusives" and let her decide. I have a couple of questions 1) Is there a ferry (or any kind of trans) over to Martinique from St. Lucia? 2) What do you do on your day off? All these resorts sound very inviting but we'll be on a floating resort all week, what does someone who lives in St. Lucia find fun on there off time? To answer your questions, Yes there are ferries and day tours between St. Lucia and Martinique. FYI, Martinique is clearly visible from St. Lucia, it's only 25miles away! So you can do the L'express "Des Iles which is the hydro foil ferry which does the trip in 45 minutes each way or you can do a day tour where you shop, have lunch and return the same day. Think about it..nice getaway and just a reminder, once you arrive in Martinique, you are technically in France since it's an overseas Department..good shopping, great prices and beautiful weather and great french food,.are you packed yet? :D

 

Mmmm, what do I do on my days off? NOTHING! :D Seriously I am not a beach loving person, so I spend most of my free days in cyber space! Other Lucians go to the beach, the movies and to the local clubs. When I am really really bored..I hop a plane and head to Miami to shop..retail therapy works for me every time!

Based on your interests I would go with Reduit with a visit to Marigot Bay. Marigot is such a pretty little gem, you'll love it!

Carribeandiva: Could you please help me out? My family would like to spend a day at the beach. We love the beach and just love to relax and have the kids 12 and 7 play in the sand, water and relax.

We would like to rent chairs, have a place to eat and bathrooms. I don’t mind spending a little extra money for a longer cab ride if it means getting further away from the cruise ships.

Is there such a beach? Reduit sounds nice but after reading all the reviews it seems like it may be too busy and crowded for us.

A couple of weeks ago, in the Toronto Star travel section, they did a feature on some mud "holes" that I think are near a volcano. In the article they said you can hike up to the baths, apply the mud to your body which is beneficial not only to the skin but to the body as a whole, and then wash the mud off underneath a nearby waterfall.

 

I'm cruising with Princess Cruises in Feb. 2006 and although they currently have a shore excursion that mentions mineral baths, they don't seem to have an excurision anywhere near these mud "holes". Unfortunately I did not keep the article so I cannot remember where these mud "holes" are.

 

Are you able, from my description,to tell me where these are, is there a tour operator that will take one to them, and how much physical exertion is required to get to the mud (I'm travelling with my 71 year old Mum).

 

Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

This is a wonderful thread! Just think of all the people whose vacations have been improved by all the help and information you've given them.

 

I hope you can answer a few questions for me. I'm trying to plan a ten-day trip to St. Lucia in October. We're three women in our 40's who were childhood friends, but haven't seen much of each other in the past decade or so. We're taking this vacation to have some quality time to catch up and reminisce about our "wild youth"; and also because one of the other women is recovering from a very serious illness, so we're hoping that some relaxing time in a beautiful tropical setting will allow her to gain back some of her strength.

 

If you could answer some of the following questions, I would be most grateful.

 

1. I'm struggling with where on the island to stay. The northern part appears to have the most tourism and infrastructure, but the more southern areas, such as Soufriere and Anse La Raye, sound like they are more lush and physically beautiful. We're not looking for the party scene, but we also don't want to be off somewhere so remote that there's not much there, such as restaurants or shops or anything to do. Any suggestions?

 

2. I'm seriously considering renting a villa vs. staying at a hotel or resort. We'd especially prefer to have a kitchen, so we don't have to get dressed and go to a restaurant for every meal. Some of the villas say they come with cooks. Do you have any advice or recommendations? Will the cooks at these villas really cook your meals for you?

 

3. Do you think we'll need a rental car for our entire stay?

My husband and I are sailing to your beautiful island in early December and wish to spend the day along with another couple at Sandals. Which resort (of the 3) do you work at, and since the ship stops for one day only.... which one has the most water sports and boats? I can assume we would take a taxi from te cruise port to Sandals. I have to say I have enjoyed reading through all of your responses. You are truely of a great help to those of us in need.:) My husband and I are planning our 1st year anniversary trip in Feb, 2006 to St. Lucia, and actually our 1st trip to the Caribbean, let alone to St. Lucia. We are staying at the Sandals Regency for one week. We are so excited!!! I was just wondering if it were your choice, of any of the restaurants available from all of the Sandals to choose from, which one would you pick??? For romantic, best view, and best food? I know alot to roll into one restaurant. Also could you suggest any particular place to party, it will be on a Friday the 24th of Feb. I appreciate your help.
