COMPLAINERS UNITE! What Can Royal Do Better?

Recommended Posts

I was in suite 2 weeks ago so we had breakfast at chops and they had same soggy waffles, they were terrible

Did they actually make the waffles for you at Chops or did they just go and get them from the buffet? I thought that suite guests were given the opportunity to eat breakfast at Chops so they could easily find a table and perhaps a little more service. I thought other than juice and coffee/tea, everything came from the buffet. Has this changed recently? Just curious. :)

Keep the dress standards high. Formal night is formal, not jeans and a tee shirt, enforce it. Lets not turn into Carnival, please.

Carnival allows jeans on non-formal nights. Just last week on Carnival Breeze, I saw people being turned away on formal night for not following the dress code (wearing shorts and tee shirts). The couple stormed off in an angry "huff". You could tell that everyone else who was lined up at the doors waiting to enter the MDR who were dressed formally/appropriately looked quite pleased at the maitre' d's decision. I, for one, applaud this. Some maitre' d's do not have the moxy to do this.

I second the motion to what other's mentioned about Royal having a self serve laundry area to wash/dry/iron, etc. I cannot stress how convenient this is. I love coming home to having no laundry to wash.

I also wish they had access 24/7 to self serve complimentary iced tea and lemonade around pool area...and some counter service food (pizza/burgers/hotdogs and other fast food items).

I also miss the days of the grand midnight buffet, but I do understand why it was taken away.

So no one liked the idea of a cigar lounge on every ship? It will cut down on the smoking in the casinos! I also think the dress code should be enforced. Violators should be flogged! You know a good flogging was part of every sea voyage! Kind of kept the crew on their toes!

I like the idea of a cigar lounge on every ship! A dedicated room open 24 hours. It's much better then the smoking area on the pool deck next to the way too loud band playing bad music.

I ordered the waffles from waiter, you had option to get breakfast from buffet or orger from waiter. They just added a small lunch menu a few weeks ago also and that started while we were on board. This was my 1st rccl suite so I am not sure when it started

This may not be the place to do this, but I'm going to bring this up anyway. Every time I hear this Faux-Pas it drives me insane! When people refer to ships they always place the word "the" in front. For example, The Explorer, or The Allure. Do you refer to your wife as "the" Mary, or "the" Susan? Just wanted to get that off my chest. I feel better now!

I knew I could rely on you or The Cigar King himself!!!

I absolutely love this thread. What a fab idea. Anything goes without condemnation.. Thank you. Finally, I can get all the "stuff" off my chest that needs to be aired. I am all for uniting everyone who has a love - hate relationship with RCI. Congrats to the person who thought it up.. Lets keep it on page 1 where it belongs..

BTW - I am still waiting to hear from the RCI Resolution Person to call or email me about my Quantum dining options that I was assured would be no problem when they first came up with the bright idea of Dynamic Dining for people for don't want to eat anywhere else than the standard MDR. We showed up for dinner on time and appropriately dressed, why are WE being penalized?????? We enjoy meeting our wait staff persons and listening as they share about their families and life on board a ship.. ..

Hilarious to find this thread this week since our last Royal Caribbean cruise was in 2007, but will be sailing on the Oasis this Saturday.

Recall that in July, 2007 we were pretty happy overall with the cruise (Splendor of the Seas, round trip Venice) especially the fantastic entertainment, quick check-in in Venice (literally 3 mins from arrival to boarding ship, and nothing was fast that summer in Italy) and good food and service in MDR. Our complaints then were: 1)chair hogs/no where to get sun in a chair by a pool, 2) thin walls/partying next door at 4am required calls to security, and 3) having to "sign" for a towel to use by the pool.

Can't wait to sail on the Oasis - but it will be interesting to see positives and complaints.

Actually,on the JW ,it was in one of the hard cover books on the table.....we asked the steward where the blue directory book was with all that info....he then showed us it was all in that book........

Yes, and if it is not on the table (they did away with the table on the refurbished Navigator) it will be in that same book but in the middle drawer at the dressing table/vanity.

I was on the Oasis last week and had a couple of issues. One with gifts ordered, one with Get the picture and another with my sea pass account.

I have three automated responses so far, but nothing from a human.

I guess there must be something terribly wrong with me. I have a good time on vacation wherever I go. Even the few nights when teens tore up the hot tubs at night in our timeshare did not run it for me. I must be a dumb simpleton. Or maybe I am just more tolerant and if there is an issue we calmly talk to people on charge or take it into our own hands and fix it.

It can take a week or two for them to respond by email.

Oasis is wonderful , but MUCH bigger ( 3x bigger) than the Splender..don't miss:

Walking thru Central Park AT NIGHT and listen to the classical trio

Hairspray- best musical I've ever seen on my 29 cruises

The AquaPark diving show at the back in the Aquatheater

Ice-skating shows

Flowriders ( if just to watch..)

Retro 70's disco party in the Royal Promenade

Sitting in the canti-levered hot tubs in the Adult Solarium pool area ON A SEA DAY

Dancing in Dazzles night club

Zip -line ( if you dare,lol..)

Try the roast beef sandwiches in the Park Cafe

Dancing in Boleros Latin club ( On the Royal Promenade)

Have a pint in the British Pub in Royal Promenade & sing along to 60's/70's /80's songs

Any more questions, let me know...lots to do for sure..I get bored easily on small ships...you won't be bored on the Oasis...have a great cruise!

being able to get a cold drink of lemonade or ice tea after 9 pm. seems like royal ships roll down the gates and shut off the lights after 9pm. very hard to get something other than booz or soda late at night. never had that issue on ccl.

I'm with you. I never have a bad time on vacation and I look so forward to them. They always gives me what I'm searching for-- fun, relation, sunshine, being waited on hand and foot, and eating good food.

Count me in as the VP to Simply Simpleton Cruisers!

Breakfast in Chops for Suite Guests, yes, they have a menu and they make your breakfast right in there. It is nice, never a problem getting a table and quiet.
