Is business bad or are the just being nice?

I received an e-mail for my birthday in October 2007, and an e-mail for booking a cruise to Mexico for 10 days in February on the Ryndam!

I guess HAL has gotten their act together with the "repeat passengers", and is doing some little things that give us a sense of belonging, and they appreciate our business. Same goes for the "on-board" activities: lunch with the Captain and some of his staff!;)

HAL's been doing this for a couple of years now. They must send them out in batches that are close to, but not necessarily on, the birthday as mine came today.

It's a nice touch, though, and I enjoy seeing it in my mailbox. :)

At the risk of seeming cynical, let me confess that the thought of a computer-generated e-mail thrills me not at all. At least my birthday e-mail from Fresh Choice (you know, the $8.99 buffet place) includes a nice discount coupon.

Is business bad???

2008 looks to be the strongest sales in decades.

You may be getting those nice emails, but indications are that prices are going up, based on increased demand and fuel prices out of control.

Bunker fuel is going to hit $500 per ton by year end - for the first time ever.
