sarplum Posted December 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2007 HAL sent me a birthday email - a first for me.
sail7seas Posted December 21, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2007 They have been doing nice things like sending Thank you for sailing with us e-mails and Thank you for your recent booking. How nice they sent you a birthday e-mail. Happy Birthday!
robertmnch Posted December 21, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 21, 2007 I received an e-mail for my birthday in October 2007, and an e-mail for booking a cruise to Mexico for 10 days in February on the Ryndam! I guess HAL has gotten their act together with the "repeat passengers", and is doing some little things that give us a sense of belonging, and they appreciate our business. Same goes for the "on-board" activities: lunch with the Captain and some of his staff!;)
Odd Ball Posted December 21, 2007 #4 Share Posted December 21, 2007 I have received a Happy Birthday :) email from Hal for my last 2 birthdays.
DFD1 Posted December 21, 2007 #5 Share Posted December 21, 2007 We get these sorts of things from HAL often. They are very good at this sort of thing. Now, if they could just get the air conditoning up to par!

kakalina Posted December 21, 2007 #7 Share Posted December 21, 2007 Hmmm. I never have and I book directly and exclusively with HAL. I'll have to ask my man why I haven't gotten any. E-mails, I mean.:o Happy Birthday!!
jhannah Posted December 21, 2007 #8 Share Posted December 21, 2007 My DW and I have both gotten birthday greetings from Holland America. It's a nice touch.
Cruising-along Posted December 21, 2007 #9 Share Posted December 21, 2007 DH just got his first one this month, I haven't gotten one yet --- hoping for my first on my birthday next month. :)
RuthC Posted December 22, 2007 #10 Share Posted December 22, 2007 HAL's been doing this for a couple of years now. They must send them out in batches that are close to, but not necessarily on, the birthday as mine came today. It's a nice touch, though, and I enjoy seeing it in my mailbox. :)
ILoveScotland Posted December 22, 2007 #11 Share Posted December 22, 2007 Do I have to have sailed with HAL several times to get an e-mail? First cruise is coming up next month but have been booked for months although final payment date was only in November.
mariner Posted December 22, 2007 #12 Share Posted December 22, 2007 Carnival's earnings were down, but met Wall Street's expectations.
shepp Posted December 22, 2007 #13 Share Posted December 22, 2007 At the risk of seeming cynical, let me confess that the thought of a computer-generated e-mail thrills me not at all. At least my birthday e-mail from Fresh Choice (you know, the $8.99 buffet place) includes a nice discount coupon.
iancal Posted December 22, 2007 #14 Share Posted December 22, 2007 I can do without the junk mail-electronic or paper. Have enough of it now. Especially from Princess. It gets deleted from my inbox or tossed in the reclycle bin before it passes through the the door.
Philip217 Posted December 22, 2007 #15 Share Posted December 22, 2007 Is business bad??? 2008 looks to be the strongest sales in decades. You may be getting those nice emails, but indications are that prices are going up, based on increased demand and fuel prices out of control. Bunker fuel is going to hit $500 per ton by year end - for the first time ever.
