WHAT IN THE WORLD IS WRONG?

Is anyone else suffering from this? There are about 5 topics on the first page listing of all the threads. When I went to the next page, there was only one!

 

I am getting so annoyed with all the problems on this site. I understand occasional matinence, but who ever is in charge of Cruise Critic, you better be getting a refund for the past few months of service from Open Topic, because this is absolutely pathetic. Half the time I get an "error, the database is being worked on" or something of that nature, some times its incredibly slow, and the other part of the time there are weird errors like I"m having now, or negative thread counts!

I have been looking at this board for about 4 months now....the search engine has not worked since day 1......now I am a patient person, but my patience ran out awhile ago with this....this is ridiculous!!!!!

I wish I could answer that question......with an appropriate answer! We don't know what's wrong. We do know that it is directly related to the sheer volumne and popularlity of our community....

My Roll call for Hawaii is also messed up. If I click on the link for it, it only shows page one, not all for. And I just realized today that for the last 4 days I have not been receving any e-mails of replies to the thread. UGH!!!

I almost responded to a post from 2002.

Lucky for me, I haven't had access to this board in almost 24 hours so no troubles. My neighbor was having yard work done and they cut my cable completely in half! No TV...no Cruise Critic.

I have had painters in my house all week. Today was the worse because after my chores, there was nothing to do. One of the painters fell down the stairs but was not hurt. That was the excitement of the day until my cable was fixed. Finally got fixed about an hour ago. I need a drink!

I don't think we're helping the problem. Look how many of us have countdown clocks, pictures by our names and cute little pictures in our posts - that has to be adding a ton to the volume.

Thank you for such a wonderful board. It helped me tremendously on our last cruise. I made such wonderful new friends because of this site and had incredible independent tours because I was able to do research here on this board. Nothing like asking for some ones opinion on a tour.

 

If everyone dropped their graphics, except for their name logo, would that make a difference? I have dial up service... yuck .. lucky I have that since I am in the country, pictures really slow loading for me. I am not a computer person so I really have no clue what slows things down and what allows a quick transfer. It seems like when I am looking at a thread with alot of graphics it is slower than if the page has only text material.

 

Thank you for your hard work... even with the problems that the board has had recently I am still typing www.cruisecritic.com every chance I get.

It is not that bad. Everything has bugs every once in a while. None of us have the right to complain as this is a free site that is not costing anyone a penny to enjoy. I really have not found that many issues to get upset over. It is down from time to time but I just come back and visit a little later and everything is usually fine. Give it time and things will work out.

I have often wondered if this might be a source of the problem. I would think that it would put a large amount of work on the system. I guess time will tell if that is part of what if going wrong.

I saw the 2004 date also and thought it might be a glitch, with today’s date showing up as April 2004.  Then I read a reference to “dial-up” and realized it really was a 2004 thread.
