When does the fascination get the WATERWORKS upgrade? Anyone know, as well as the other refurbishments. Thanx

I'm hoping that they don't get the new Evolutions of fun upgrade before we're on her again. I don't like that they took away the upper pool to make the waterworks park. As far as the cabins go, they were upgraded maybe last year when they refurbished the ship. There are safes in all the cabins.

On Elegant night we left for the palace lounge at 4:45pm.

I'm sure there is more I can share with you. Let me think on it and get back to you all. We had a fantastic time.:)

Thanks for the great info!

Speaking of "Elegant Night", does anyone know which night it is on the 5 night to the Bahamas? We'll have early seating and I need to plan excursions accordingly because my girls want to get dressed up.

One of my favorite areas on Fantasy-class ships is the eating space outside the buffet. I can always find somewhere to sit, either in the shade or in the sun, if I want. It's a great place to sit and watch when pulling out of port.

I agree, I was very dissapointed that those exterior dining areas went by the wayside on the larger classes. We always ate by the aft pool on Glory, but it wasn't the same with all the glass around it.

My first ever cruise will be Oct 4 on the Fascination. I can't wait. I tried to get a balcony but none available. I have a guaranteed 6A oceanside that states 1 upper (whatever that is). Since it's my grown daughter and I, should I switch to a suite? Are the #11 suites nice?:o

I sailed on Fantasy with my DD and her bff when they graduated from high school. We had no problem in a "regular" cabin with 3 females. A little short on shelf space in the bathroom, but we managed just fine. DD had no problem sleeping in the upper bunk.

Your OV 6A "should" have 2 lower beds. As far as I know, all OV cabins on Fantasy-class have at least 2 beds. The only cabins with ONLY an upper and lower berths are 1A, and they're all inside cabins.

Personally, I would never book a Cat 11 on a Fantasy-class ship. Just way too expensive for what you get, imo. The cabin is larger, but the balcony is tiny. When the bed is separated, there really isn't a whole lot of room (I've looked in them but never sailed in one, so this is just an impression).

But then, I'm all about cruising for as little as possible so I can cruise more often.

Does anyone know if Fascination has the interactive TV system now where you can check your S&S balance and order shore excursions? I don't think we had that option back when I was last on a Fantasy-class ship (Elation, 12/06).

I don't remember seeing an interactive tv system. There may have been one, but I did not sit in the cabin long enough to check it out. The tv was nice though. Flat panel on the wall.

Maybe someone else who has sailed on her can help with your question.

The catagory 11 suites are nice too. We have sailed on the Inspiration and Sensation in the last few years. One thing with those is that the balcony overlooks another deck. Its cool though to sit out and watch people go by.

Our dining room waiter was so nice as I said in my previous post. Our teenage boys would come down to the dining room during the late dinner time. They would ask Dennis for a basket of rolls to take with them. Dennis would give them a basket of rolls.

If you are going to have lunch at the Lido Deck buffet, get their early. One day we arrived about 30-40 minutes after they opened for lunch. We were in a long line.

We did have a few minor problems while onboard this ship. Mostly parents not watching their children. We saw children jumping down the stairs. Only to get hurt when they landed at the bottom. Children running up and down the hallways during the night. Someone knocking on our door then running away.

Hi! We will be on the Feb. 2, 2009 sailing and i have a question about the casino. I was reading Golf's post and wondered about the video poker tables. Do they have any real dealers? Versus a machine. We love to play Carribbean Poker and was looking forward to it but we don't care much for the video tables. Can someone tell us about the casino? Thanks!

Can anyone tell me if the interior cabins have safes?

Yes, the insides do have a safe. I usually take an empty gift card with a magnetic stripe on the back to use for the safe (much better than your S&S card;) ).

Nope, no interactive tv system. Still have to go to the pursers deck to get a print out of your S&S :p

Another tip I can think of is if you have a mini fridge in your stateroom it is probably a mini-bar. Your cabin steward needs to open it with a key. Have the cabin steward take the items out for you so you can put your drinks in there. We took a few items out and placed them on the counter above the mini fridge. When the cruise was over and we were driving home I was checking over my bill for the cruise and noticed that we got charged for 2 drinks from the mini bar that we did not drink.

We will be on the Fascination on 9/8 for our 5th anniversary. Does anyone know if there are tables for 2 on the Fantasy class ships. I have heard both yes and know. This will be our first time on this class. We have been on the Celebration, Glory, Legend, and Destiny. Thanks

"1 upper" just means that there is an upper bunk that pulls out from the wall. Like the other poster said, that should be in addition to the two regular beds, so you'll be fine.

I also considered an 11A but settled on a 12A when I found out that the 11A is essentially the same as a normal balcony cabin on most other ships. Not worth the money, in my opinon. For that matter, I'm not sure that the 12A is going to be worth my money either, since there are no real "perks" for this type of suite versus suites on other ships, but I'm glad I booked it anyway. Sailing as the lone adult with just two young daughters, I'll be spending A LOT of time out there!

I might just book the 11 stateroom if it has even a small balcony. I'm a smoker and my daughter is not. Someone said that Fascination doesn't have balcony rooms. Anyone know for sure?

The only balconies are in 11A and 12A suites. If you want a balcony at all, you'll need to go that route. Be carefuly, though, of which specific room you book. Several of the 11As have obstructed views. I can see it being a pain to have to go to a public area every time you want to have a smoke, though, so it might just be worth it for you. If I were sailing with my mother, I'd definitely go with a balcony for the very same reason as you (she's a smoker and I'm not).

Sailing on the Fascination on 10/09/08 and just received notice from Carnival that due to major construction taking place at the Freeport dock(which will last over the next 11 months), the itinerary will change for many ships docking in Freeport. We were originally scheduled to dock in Freeport on Friday, 10/10/08 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Now, we will be docking in Freeport on Sunday, 10/12/08 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Needless to say, we will probably just stay on the ship while in port. We were originally planning on spending the afternoon beaching it at Lucaya(Westin/Sheraton) and strolling through the marketplace. But now being there from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. that doesn't seem like such a great idea. I don't think being at the beach at 8 a.m. sounds like much fun, and I'm not sure what time the marketplace opens. Besides, we would have to leave Lucaya about noon to comfortably make it back to the ship by 1:30 p.m. VERY DISAPPOINTED....but whataya goin' do?

Everybody ... double check your itinerary!!!!!!

cruiseawaits: You should have plenty of time to go to Lucaya. You get 2 hours more than originally scheduled. We were there from 10-6. But we ended up not even going to the beach and going back to the ship just in time to grab some lunch (so it must've been right at 3 pm when we got back). Personally, I'd rather be at the beach early, when it isn't quite so hot, then wander around the marketplace. I don't know what's open on Sundays. You could ask on the Bahamas board.

retirednready2go: do you have a cabin assignment? I'm confused as to what you actually have. If you have a cabin assigned, you can look at this site...

http://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/Carnival/fascination.php

Go to "Cabin Details by Deck" and select the deck. A window will open which shows the details of every cabin on that deck, including the bed configuration.

As you can see from reading the descriptions ALL category 4, 5 & 6 cabins have "two lower berths converting to king." Category 1A have upper/lower berths.

You'll be fine. Unless you specifically booked a 1A, you'll have two beds on the floor. And they will be extremely comfortable. Carnival has fantastic beds and bedding.

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! Love the tip about the aft pool....I didn't know, and I'll make note. AND...I've never heard of anyone doing B2B2B. You must really like this ship!

I'm not going until April for Spring Break. Chose it because it's out of JAX, and so only a 5+ hour drive for me instead of 11+ to FLL or MIA. Goes to Nassau (which I've been to several times, but my kids have not) and Half Moon Cay, which I've never been to but have heard great things.

Oh...and did I mention I booked a 12A? Looking forward to it for sure. Thanks for the information!

A 12A on spring break. Hmm, we had one last april on the elation and won't do that again. We were under the hall on the empress deck and the kids ran that hall all day and half the night. My dh called the pursers desk one night to make it stop but you can forget taking a nap in the day time. Hopefully the room you have will be in a better location. I just know to me it was not worth it for the suite.

We are going on the fascination for the first time in Oct doing a b2b. This time we will be way in the back on the upper deck, hoping for some good RNR. Trisha

OK.I'll pipe in here. I love the crew on the Fascination...I think it's one of the friendliest. Also, if you want to be in the pool but away from the crowds, go to the aft of the Lido deck and up one deck. Alot quieter up at that pool!

When do you go? Which itinerary? We did a B2B2B on this ship last year and and two 4 day cruises this year.

We're looking at the Fascination again in Jan. when it goes out of Jacksonville. Even tho' I love being able to have a balcony cabin (and you can only get one on the older ships by booking a suite), I'd give up a balcony anytime to sail on this nice ship again.

We are going to be on the Fascination Jan. 5th! This will be our 2nd cruise (only 8 to go ;) )...we just got back from our first on the Holiday.

I was worried about that very thing on the spring break cruise we took this year, but it was never a problem. I'm not really concerned, and definitely looking forward to hanging out on my balcony again. I'll keep my fingers crossed...
