1A's are confusing, at least to me, and it seems to be to other members on the Carnival forum.

Ah, so the bunk bed is hidden, and I do get a sofa, I guess! I'm in 1202 on the opposite side next week. I'll assume the setup is exactly the same. This is great. Thanks.

Well actually there is no hidden bunk lol. Yes, you have a convertible sofa bed and one twin bed, no bunk. If you look at the first post, it says what is in each cabin for each class, go to Triumph class and look at your cabin #. Nicely done, all spelled out by ship class.

Well, I am confused now - It looks like a bunk bed in that picture to me.

It looks like a bunk to me too, if so then the key in the first post is incorrect, my bad for assuming it was correct. The sofa looks like a regular sofa, not a convertible sofa, or maybe I just didnt know what the key meant in the first post meant by sofa.

Im sorry. :(

Hey, no need to apologize, we are just trying to figure this all out together. I am not sure what you mean by "key" in the first post - I don't see the bed configuration listed in the first post - I thought OP would add that as people posted about that particular cabin - I think "SB" means starboard side of the ship if that is what you thought indicated sofa bed. Hey, it's all good as we share what we know with each other.:)

SB = starboard, well duuh!!!. Yes, I see now CS stands for convertible sofa, not SB for sofa bed. I wear the dunce cap.

1A's are confusing, at least to me, and it seems to be to other members on the Carnival forum. I have started different threads on the topic, and still have questions about other 1A cabins because they all seem to be unique. I thought it would be beneficial to have one thread dedicated to this topic with all the information you would want to know.

I have started by listing just about all the 1A cabin's by number on the different ship classes. I, for one, am especially interested to better understand which cabins have true upper/lowers, which one have 2 twin beds that are able to push together, and which have 1 bed and 1 convertible sofa. Also, which ones have portholes or other interesting info. Pictures, if anyone has them, are a plus (with ship and room #, of course)! :D Please contribute to my list and make any changes for errors I may have made.

Thanks for your contributions!! :D

Good info on the Spirit class, except that the lone fwd 1A cabin is # 1111 instead of 1211. We have this cabin booked for a future cruise on the Spirit..

Actually, yes, that was my cabin and my pic. You DO get a sofa and also get a bunk as well. The bunk SHOULD have been hiddden, but the upper bunk was left open for the pictures, but it does fold up and out of the way.

Just one single bed, a sofa, a fold-up bunk and two porthole windows. Same exact bathroom as the other cabins. I would get this cabin ANY time if it were available. Quiet, spacious for one or two people.

Just curious, since the sofa is the size of a twin bed (correct?). is there any reason a couple couldn't shove the twin alongside the sofa to make a Queen?

Well, the bed doesn't move for what ever reason, or else it was quite hard to move and seemed permanent. Also, the sofa was shorter than the upper bunk, so to lay on it, your legs will rest on the arm rest and hang over the edge.

The bed was not too small for a few nights.

If you want more info to fill in things go to www.cruisedeckplans.co and then click on public site then Carnival. Then click on the ship you want. Then staterooms by deck and by number.....it gives sq. footage and beds, closets, sofa, chair, upper and so on...It works well......;)

Leo: They are also different heights, or at least they have been in those I've previously booked. I considered it in one cabin and then realized it would create a 'ledge' so I abandoned the plan.

Did you pay the 11.99 for cruisestaterooms.com? I followed your instructions, but it tells me that for this information I have to pay up! I'm considering paying the $$ though if it is worth it.

DISCLAIMER on my first post!! It is in no way complete, and may have errors! That is all just information I have gathered from these boards. My intention was to, as I received more information, to edit my original post and make appropriate changes. Apparently though there is a time limit to edit. Sorry for any confusion!

Here's another question I have for any of you. All of the ones I didn't specify the bed configuration, I assume are traditional upper/lowers. If any of you are knowledgable, go through the list and see if I have missed any. I'm especially wondering about 7345 and 8357 on the conquest class, since I believe the room underneath them (6393) has two twin beds.

Are all the 1A's on fantasy class upper/lowers? They look VERY small!!

Thanks for all your help!

Looks like I got told off for the "lol" in my post :( so after misreading the first post which I admitted was my fault I probably shouldnt post. But, I was thinking the same thing as you, it would cost $11.99 to see the individual pics of each cabin, not sure if its worth it. Thinking about it like you.

As far as I know all the 1As on Fantasy class are upper and lowers. I only had a 5A, but I did see a 1A, a guy's estranged wife booked him into a 1A with a handicapped son and put him on a upper bunk and this was a old guy. That was my introduction to 1A cabins. I wouldnt be on Ecstasy again until next January to try and look around. From everything Iv read and heard they are only uppers and lowers.

For anyone that is still interested in Holiday 1A cabins in the last year it's around...

I was in R3 on Riviera deck, starboard, all the way forward.

It was an upper and a lower (I cruised solo so just used the lower.)

It had a porthole.

Hope that helps also! :)

Another good point. If the different lengths aren't necessarily a deal-breaker, the different heights probably would be. Thanks.

  • 3 months later...

Hello all, very interesting thread.

As with everything, things change. So my advice is when you book, ask your travel agent for the most current information concerning your 1A cabin.

Carnival is in the process of recategorizing many of their ships, so what was once a 1A may now be a 4A, 6A, 6B, etc. You get my drift.

Basically right now the spirit class 1A's available are mostly two twins.

However the older ships have some cabins with bunks. So instead of trying to keep up with all the changes, just ask.

I'm sorry for all your hard work is going to be upset by the reclassification process.

The categories are now based on location and amenities. So for example the least expensive staterooms are in lowest decks/aft/forwards. While mid-ship locations are higher.

Take a look:

No they haven't...they're still 1As. We have cabin M5 booked, which is a 1A with a porthole, and M9, which is a 5A with a porthole. There are 2 1As with portholes on Main deck and 4 on Riviera.

The difference between the 1A and 5A is that the 1A has bunk beds.

For those wondering about the Sofabed in 1A cabins, it's not like a "couch" sofabed that has that uncomfortable bar you have to sleep around. It's a regular Carnival style twin bed with two sofa pillows. Very comfy, standard length, and great for sleeping. :)

My friend and I stayed in 2216 on the Carnival Victory (Triumph class). It was roomy enough for two people and the porthole was nice.
