I have a 24-hr courtesy hold on a 6-day Western Carib with Carnival Freedom for December 7th, 2014.

The total price is 431.75 and it's an A-1 cabin, 6th level.

Is this a good deal ? If it is,I can snag a semi-cheap flight with Southwesr.

thanks !

Check the 1A solo prices on Carnival.

I am booked on the Splendor in October and there is now no solo supplement. Only for the 1As though not regular insides.

As I paid double deposit I am now paid in full with a refund.

Carnival used to have a solo supplement of 150% for these cabins which they changed a couple of years ago but now it seems no supplement at all.

I love the 1As with portholes as like to have some light.

Thanks Maryann2, I've booked a cruise thanks to your post. This is a great board thanks to people like you that share their "finds".

There is also no solo surcharge for the 4-Day July 3rd, Splendor Independence day weekend cruise... We have an active roll call too :)

P.S. I've seen the surcharge fluctuate even within a single day.

"It's a surcharge not a supplement. Cruise lines aren't supplementing my cruise experience by charging me double." :p

Single Occupancy Offer (Carnival): https://www.goccl.com/~/media/GOCCL/Files/Sales/SingleOccupancy1.ashx

Unfortunately (for me) none sailing from LA/Long Beach. :( Oh well, will just have to wait.

Not all reduced surcharges are listed. I'd also periodically do mock bookings (and of course check this board) especially during sales and resident sales.

And the prices on the flyer in some cases are alot higher than they are when you do a mock booking. I have a week off in July and have been checking prices on a few of the cruises listed on the flyer and they are alot less.

So if there is something particular you are looking for - log in and do a mock booking.

They do have the Imagination and Inspiration deals for solos in the 1As. Just do a fake booking.

I took 6393 because it was midship and just heard that the empty space is the pax laundry room so I just put earplugs on my shopping list :)

can I ask you why you switched ?

I just booked 2 cruises thru carnival's casino club deals. Free for insides and only $5 a day extra to upgrade to ocean view and $10 a day for a balcony on certain cruises. I did have to pay double plus port and taxes. So I paid $223 total for a 4 day cruise and get $100 OBC for a great ocean view. There were not any more balcony's or I would have gone foe one. Imagination July 13th out of LA.

The second cruise I picked is on the Pride August 17th 7 days. I only paid $360 for a balcony that I got to pick and I get $100 OBC with that one as well.

What is the casino club deal? I assume it's tied to a onshore casino?

You must spend a lot in the casino to get these deals. I cruise with carnival at least 7-8 times a year, but never get an offer. I usually avoid the casino after the first $100 l lose.

I got the offer thru carnival's VIFP club. I went on my first Carnival cruise last month and gambled a lot in the casino. Between the casino, drinks and shore excursions they must figure I spend enough. I got that cruise so cheap with no single supplement that I figured I could spend more, and I did!

The offer was limited to certain cruises in June, July and August. Most likely these are cruises they want to fill up.

I'm retired so I can go anytime I want. This worked out great because I was looking for another cruise to go on this summer and now I'm going on 2!

If you're a VIFP club member log on to their site and check your offers. They also sent me an e-mail about it.

They way I see it is if I get a really good deal then I usually spend more on board.

Do you spend much onboard or gamble? I did spend a lot while on this cruise.

I spend a lot on almost every cruise but I never get the good casino deals. I received one small discount on a cruise and was offered on 25 dollars in chips which they failed to give me on board saying I wasn't on the list. I've averaged losses between 300 and 600 dollars per cruise the last few cruises in the casino alone and yet I didn't get offered any good deals. So I'm not sure is that these casino deals are linked only to your playing the casino. I even tried to call the casino people to see if I could receive any special deals and they failed to even return my call.

Hi!

I am surprised that you haven't gotten that offer. I spent around $1,100 total on board between everything. I was surprised to get that kind of offer. I was going to e-mail you tomorrow to see if you had gotten that deal. I was also surprised when I was told I could book 2 cruises. This offer was from June 9th -20th. I first found it in 'my offers'. It didn't extend to any of the Alaska cruises. The person I talked to mentioned something about another offer coming up the same as this in a couple of days so keep checking the 'Offers' everyday to see if you get it.

Two portholes as opposed to a true "interior" room.

I just booked a Cat 1A on Carnival's Glory for 10/04 for $592. I am very happy with that price. No single sup.

I would not have even looked had it not been for this thread.

I originally had a b2b booked on MSC Divina starting on 09/27. Second leg is 10/04. I am now going to cancel the second leg of this B2B, take a shuttle to the airport and a cab to Carnival's ship on 10/04.

To be honest, the second leg of the B2B had 3 sea days and the port stops were not that interesting to me. I just booked it bc it was cheap. Also traveling solo on a cruise with 3 sea days would have probably bored me on the Divina; especially, after having already spent 7 nights on this ship.

To some this may sound crazy to change ships/cruiselines but this is more my style. Plus I am platinum (if it still exists) on Carnival and will enjoy the extra perks.

Carnival was only $167 more than what I paid for the Divina cheapy ($435) with less sea days (only 2) and a better itinerary.

I love this thread. . . . Best one on Cruise Critic. ;):D:)

Congrats! Im curious why you would take a cab back to the airport. Divina and Glory are both at port of Miami.

I have done b2b on different ships and just walked from one to the other. Its fairly easy unless you have mobility issues.

Keep a close eye on that Glory rate, it will likey drop even lower closer to final payment date. They are almost giving cruises away these days.
