I booked this one for about $100 per night - not sure of the exact single supplement, but know this is pretty good for a 14 nighter. Even with the airfare it still works out to about what I was planning on spending for a Southern Caribbean route cruise! (Being on the west coast, just getting to Florida can be pretty pricey!)

Yes, it's an inside cabin, yes, it's an "older" ship, but getting to cross, seeing New Zealand (and Sydney), off my bucket list is, as they say, "Priceless". Woo hoo, 49 days and counting...

They're on my bucket list as well but the airfare to and from Australia is a killer to me, not to mention the flying time. One of these days though...

I'm sure you'll have a fabulous trip..how could you not?!:)

Morning All:)

I am looking at booking the Celebrity Solstice b2b Australia for 2013. I have never booked this far in advance and it scares me. My way of thinking is if the price goes down I have locked it in at what it is today. I was told that I could cancel this cruise before final payment but would have some of my deposit withheld.

Not sure if it is worth the risk to book today.

I just got back Sunday from a cruise on the Adventure of the Seas that I booked a week before the sail.

Any info would be greatly appreciated have to book by Thursday if I am to take the one on hold for me. Thanks:D

I have gone on this one the end of October of last year and it was great. Love all the ports. It's a shame though that they took out Dominica.

Hi,:) Not sure what you mean about the deposit being witheld?

Is that a Canadian thing? I sail Celebrity all the time and if you

cancel before final payment is due they credit back anything you

have paid. (well here in the states they do).

That cruise is on my bucketlist..........

Hi Lois, no....it's not a Canadian thing. It works the same in Canuckland as it does in the USA. I have absolutely no idea why that particular poster would lose their deposit if cancelled within the 100% refund allowable time frame.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just booked 2 b2b cruises on Celebrity Millennium 1/23 & 1/28. Single supplement was 140%. Staying in the same cabin (inside/accessible). Fare came to around $85./day. Now here's the kicker. One of these cruises is a Tuesday special but they actually are charging more for the single today than they were yesterday when the "special" wasn't offered. They already had the same double rate for the cruise. This isn't the first time this has happened. Someone posted a great rate for a cruise on this thread. When the "special" was offered the rate was higher. Luckily my t/a blocked space for me yesterday and put it on hold so I got the lower rate. He wanted to see what would happen today. Unfortunately, the airfare went up about $50. The funny thing too is RCCL had specials for the Liberty and they want about $100. more.

I've been looking for deals on Liberty. How do you find deals for single supplement? I can't seem to find the Tuesday deals anymore either.

Sorry you missed today's special.

Thanks, yes I just missed a great deal on two of the three cruises:( I want to book. I wonder the odds they will show up net tuesday. As a Emerald C&A. I'm suppose to see the deals on Monday but, it doesn't take you to that site/offers so, I missed them.

Thanks for the link it is now bookmarked.:D

Not sure if this will help anyone, but i was about to book the Carnival Inspiration for 1/27/12 for $379 solo at today's Pack N Go rate ( GTY)

3 night out of Long Beach.

when i was trying to pay, i had to login, i did, and then i got an error notice.

so i started over, and when the rates displayed, i saw i had a Casino VIP Rate posted.

it was cheaper AND it let you pick your own room.

it was even cheaper if i picked a 1A

so i picked a room on Upper Deck and paid $299

Not bad for Long Beach weekend cruise....prices have been high.

According to roll call this is also an Angels Fan Cruise.

Now i know from now on...ALWAYS login to your Carnival account before checking for rates!

That rate's not bad at all. Anything $100./night or less for a single is good. I haven't had much luck with Carnival since 2010. The rates have gone up quite a bit. I got some great specials back in May 2010 on the Miracle and again in September on the Valor but nothing. The same cruise I took on the Miracle for $800. is now going for $1,800. Although, I got the rate as a last minute special but still another $1,000.?!!! Are they nuts? I guess it's all based on what they figure they can get.

Yep, I used to always solo on Carnival until they changed how they figure the rate. Used to be the 1A at 150% was a good deal. Now the 150% is on a different "base number' and you don't save much. I have found some sailing on RCCL with a single sup at 150 and 175 and it comes out better. That is part of the reason I have so many RCCL cruises lately. Carnival used to have the best deal going for Solos on a constant basis.

Oh, well....

Yes I agree Carnival solo sailings have got costly. As you can see by my past cruise list Carnival was my line of choice then there prices hit the fan. Still like there food and entertainment.

Not sure how this http://www.creative.rccl.com/Sales/R...ales_event.pdf link works but I have book marked it. When I open it next Tuesday will it have new offers?

If there is a last minute site I can be ready in week as that was all the time I had for Voyager of Seas in Dec.

If anyone has any other good ideas for good deals for solo travel would you Please advise Thank You

When I first started cruising last century the single rates were best on NCL. RCCL wouldn't give singles the time of day. Then NCL dumped their singles rates and Carnival became the friend of singles but only if you booked category 1A. It usually worked out very well since I would get the forward cabins with portholes. They were larger than the standard insides and you got to look outside. But then Carnival got greedy and RCCL along with Celebrity seems to be giving the best deals for singles. Once in a while NCL will drop the single supplement below 200% if they need to fill the ship so they're okay too. The part I don't understand is that Celebrity is offering cheaper rates and not just to singles. But compared with Carnival, they are giving away the ship.

Hi there, Ladyinred,

Have you checked out the meet n' mingle? I've hooked up with them for transfers and a tour and general info. If you check out their group website (details on the meet n' mingle forum), I think there may be some members on your flight. I'm on the United flight that gets to SYD on the 28th so have one night pre-cruise and a few extra days post-cruise. Three weeks and counting...

This link is actually a TA link to RCCL. C&A members of a certain level can see on Monday what will be offered on Tuesday. If you go to this link on Tuesday and see a deal you want, you can either call your TA, PVP or RCCL or book that deal. Also I have seen in the past that the update wasn’t at the same time every week. Keep checking until you see the current date.

As far as Alaska goes, a couple years ago I was getting deal from HAL almost giving cruises away. I haven't seen anything like it resently.

I was lucky to get that $299 weekend rate for the Inspiration. And let's be clear...i still paid double the pp rate.

The only decent solo price i saw for Alaska last year, i believe was posted here. There were a few Princess cruises that had decent rates but they were for insides.

I am sure when someone spots a good Alaska deal, esp on a balcony, it will get posted.

But alot of these great deals are gone within hours if not minutes if you dont catch it right away.

I have found that the lower rates are usually for the one-way inside passage cruises between Seward and Vancouver as opposed to the r/t Vancouver or Seattle cruises because people will need to pay more for airfare to cover the leg between Anchorage and Vancouver, which is something to consider when shopping for an Alaska cruise.

Sorry you missed it. I posted right after i booked. Made me a little late for work even but i needed to get it out there.

When i came home from work even the Casino Rate went up to $479 and Pack N Go was gone.

I'm wondering if they were trying to dump the cabins that were held for the group cruise. The rollcall said only 125 signed up.

IF i see anything under $400 again, i will post it.

Thank you so much! I can only go online at night after work so I hope I see your post before the price goes up. I wish Carnival would go back to the old 1A rates.
