Well very exciting that we will be getting a 2.0 ship here in NYC for 4 months a year in 2016 (note sarcasm) - I wish it would be here longer, but we will take what we can get.

CARNIVAL SUNSHINE TO OPERATE UNIQUE SCHEDULE OF TWO- TO 10-DAY VOYAGES FROM NEW YORK JUNE TO OCTOBER 2016

Groundbreaking Fun Ship 2.0-Equipped Vessel Also to Offer Voyages from Norfolk, Charleston and Port Canaveral Next Summer and Fall

MIAMI (March 16, 2015) – Carnival Sunshine – the first ship to feature all of the line’s spectacular Fun Ship 2.0 dining, bar and entertainment innovations – will offer a unique schedule from New York in 2016 encompassing 20 voyages departing between June and October 2016.

This marks the first time that a Fun Ship 2.0-equipped ship will offer such a diverse itinerary schedule from the Big Apple with options ranging from value-packed two-day cruises to exciting 10-day Caribbean voyages.

Carnival Sunshine will also offer a series of sailings from Charleston, S.C., and Norfolk, Va., in summer and fall 2016, providing exciting new cruise choices in these markets. Following these departures from New York, Charleston and Norfolk, Carnival Sunshine will return to its current homeport of Port Canaveral, Fla., to offer a schedule of five- to eight-day Caribbean voyages from the Space Coast beginning in November 2016.

Guests sailing on these voyages can experience all that Carnival Sunshine has to offer, including a stunning three-deck-high Serenity adults-only retreat with its own pool and waterfall. The ship also features one-of-a-kind dining experiences like JiJi Asian Kitchen, a massive WaterWorks aqua park featuring the longest slide in the fleet, a SportSquare outdoor recreation area with a suspended ropes course, and innovative bar concepts like Havana Bar, all of which were added during a groundbreaking $155 million makeover.

“Carnival Sunshine has an extraordinary array of guest features and facilities and will provide consumers and our valued travel agent partners with a wide range of itinerary choices from these highly attractive East Coast homeports,” said Christine Duffy, Carnival’s president.

Three Carnival Sunshine voyages – the nine-day cruise departing Port Canaveral April 29, 2016, the 10-day cruise departing May 30, 2016 from Charleston and the nine-day voyage departing Aug. 25, 2016 from New York – are part of the line’s recently announced Carnival Journeys series that feature exceptional ports and unique on-board experiences showcasing local cuisine, entertainment and cultural opportunities. Enrichment seminars focusing on photography, cooking, arts and crafts, social media and celestial navigation, along with a 1980s-themed “Throwback Sea Day” and question and answer sessions with shipboard personnel, will also be offered.

Carnival Sunshine will operate three previously announced Carnival Journeys adventures in 2015-16 – an 11-day voyage departing Port Canaveral Nov. 28, 2015, a 10-day cruise departing San Juan Dec. 9, 2015, and a 13-day voyage departing Port Canaveral Feb. 21, 2016. The six Carnival Journeys cruises operated by Carnival Sunshine are the most of any Carnival ship.

It will be interesting to see how the Sunshine will fit for the Big Apple. I would hope that the Charleston and Norfolk would be elated with the regional sailings. It is now clear that Carnival thinks regional for east coast (with the exception of Baltimore (has the Pride schedules come out yet) which seem to be appropriate.

The sunshine is going to be doing the same itinerary that carnival has been doing since i started cruising 6+ years ago that the Miracle, Glory and Splendor been doing

I guess i am very very happy that the Carnival Vista will be here in november next year for unique itinerary that goes to different ports

We'll be booking one from NYC. That GT, HMC, Amber Cove itinerary has my interest. Already called my PVP, and he hasn't been told yet when bookings will open for these cruises.

I'm looking at that one as well. I'm also hoping to do one out of Norfolk.

I wonder: with Charlston getting the sunshine seasonally, does that mean they're losing the Fantasy?

Having Sunshine here in NYC will be awesome even though it is for the 4 month summer/fall months. I look forward to sailing on Sunshine to Canada/New England and down to the Caribbean. I did like Splendor but Sunshine will be a nice change with all of the 2.0 amenities. See you all on Sunshine.

Bookings are open!! The website didn't have them but my PVP did. Booked on the 8/1/16 sailing. Amber Cove, GT, HMC, in an Aft Wrap (8328) Whoo Hooo!!!!

GOOD FOR YOU, Jamman! :D:DYou're not going to have room for your countdown clocks soon!

I have been researching cruises for next winter in case we get any offers like we did for Liberty. Looking at Sunshine out of PC or Breeze out of Miami. So I guess I can wait for Sunshine to come to NY. Was thinking the 10/1 cruise to Bermuda. We have been to Bermuda a bunch of times, but not recently and would be fun to go back. Just wish they had 8 day and not 7. We are spoiled with that "one extra day." ;);)

I'm still waiting for the website to show the sailings! It seems like they're updating it, because I can select NY in the Jun - Oct '16 range in booking, but nothing shows up yet.

I'll probably book that sailing if it's in my price range!

You can call if you don't want to wait. FYI, I believe the 8/1 sailing is the only one that includes Amber Cove.

Can you see your booking yet? Just asking because the release says Nassau OR Amber Cove - like they haven't decided yet.

I already have my confirmation. When on the phone with my PVP, he told me that the 7/12 & 8/9 sailings were GT, HMC, & Nassau.

i am wondering what the plans are for Charleston now also.

I just checked and you can still book the Fantasy during the same lap-over period. Totally OK with having a new ship, if only for a few cruises. Charleston is a very close port and would love to try a different ship from there.

I don't think Carnival, even with the lawsuits, will leave Charleston. I could be wrong but it's just too good of a location and a very short drive for us in NC, SC, VA and TN, etc. It's usually always full too.

That's the room/itinerary/date we were looking at! Although I've also been eyeing up the captains suite. My husband and I cruise for the good rooms and my stepson loves good water slides. So we are excited for a different ship. I should go call Carnival now.
