Just Moved Up to The Haven and Have a few Questions

I am extremely thrilled, I just moved up to the Haven Court Yard early this morning. The prices had dropped so low I figured now was the time. I was book in my favorite Suite SF aft category but not my favorite cabin.location :( which is 10666. I was on deck 8 so when those H4 and H5 cabins kept dropping in price I kept calling NCL to leave word for the revenue dept that I would like an upsell offer. I am just a few days from being Platinum but kept calling to make sure I was on the list to be called. Last night when I saw that they dropped the prices again but this time very close to what I was willing to pay for the Upsell on the H5 I figure I better jump because the call for an offer will not be coming through. The key was I had several promotion offers with SBC that I did not want to lose. The funny thing is my old cabin is now showing but they want over a $100 more pp than I paid :D

So two weeks from today I will be in the Haven which brings several questions to mind. Of course it was worthless asking the NCL Rep on the phone.

First Question I have the bright Orange Sticker Luggage takes from my Deck 8 Suite that were mailed to me, can I use them and with a sharpie just mark off the cabin number and place in the new number on deck 14?

Beside the Haven Courtyard what other differences should I see and expect from the Aft Suite to the Haven?

I know that balcony is going to be very small :o but is there another private deck we can use. We have become accustom to our wake view but thought having the Haven could make up for that.

What other secrets about the Haven should I know?

One last question, I was planning on hosting a Sail Away Party in my Aft Suite cabin for 6 guests. I would not think that would be a problem correct. I can just meet them at the elevator near Cagney's and escort them up.. correct??

Though I did not see it mentioned, I think you are doing the Jewel, right?

I think the biggest thing you will find is having a cabin with SEPARATE rooms.

As to the sail-away - yes, just meet them at the door and escort them up.

Enjoy. Those cabins are awesome.

Yes the Jewel :D Sorry about that I guess I am excited. We were just on the Jewel this past March and when invited to the VIP Party at the Haven I met up with some fellow CCers from our Roll Call that just happened to have the same cabin we will have so they had showed us their cabin. So actually pretty funny that we have been in this cabin before ;) They called it their cabin because they had been in it several time before.

There was a room they had showed us that I guess during the day had food items available. I am guessing this is much like Holland America and their Neptune Lounge.

What I am looking forward to the most is the bathroom :D

Lisa you have been such a big help to me in the past your posts were so valuable to me. We have cruised only Haven on NCL and you will love the haven on the Jewel. You can escort your guests up, they can be in your room just not in the courtyard area. We seldom eat breakfast at Cagney's we order in the courtyard and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, your Butler and Concierge will spoil you it is an amazing experience

Lounging around in the courtyard and being served whatever you want is amazing. You can also take advantage of reserved seating in the theater .

The courtyard area is like a giant outdoor Neptune Lounge, you can order food from anywhere hey are happy to get it for you. Hope you have an amazing voyage. We are on the Breakaway right now in the Haven..I love the Jewel and the Gem.

Thanks Andrea :) We are super excited!!

Now let me ask when we board will we be escorted up to the Haven and can order Lunch up there... is that correct? How about them getting us cocktails. I always like a glass of wine or bubbly to kick off the cruise.

We would in the past usually go right to Cagney's but always found it odd that it was practically empty.

You will be escorted to Cagney's and you can order whatever you like , there will be a bottle in your room sparkling wine I believe..I am not a drinker. You can lave your carry on bag with the concierge and your room will be ready as soon as your are done eating if not before you can always ask . You cannot eat in the Courtyard area in embarkation but you can eat every meal there during the crusie. You can also call the pre concierge at NCL and order things from Special pillows to soda wine or beer.

Your luggage tags will be changed at the port just give them your room when you check your bags.

You will miss the large balcony but not enough to give up the Haven..

Thanks Andrea, :) Yes I had already called the Concierge Desk earlier this week to make dining reservations for the week and those are all showing on my reservation.

OK Next Question for anyone that is a Spa lover and also has had the Haven. I was planning on getting the Spa Thermal Suite Pass for the week. If I am not mistaken there is a Sauna in The Haven... Is that correct? I mostly use the Spa Pass to use the Sauna/Steam Room but I also love those Thermal Heat loungers but love to just go up there to read and relax. I am thinking I may not purchase the Spa Pass and will just make Massage appointments. What is any others thought on this?

Thanks,

Embarkation day lunch:

It would not be appropriate to even thing of ordering in that day. The are VERY BUSY getting all the suite guests situated and really do not have time to deal with personal lunch.

Cagney's works great. They have servers there and it is usually quiet. I am very amazed that so many do not do lunch there.

Thanks :) actually now on the Jewel it is in Moderno since that is where the Star Bar use to be. SO that is still our plan to go have lunch there.

OK can anyone answer me about the luggage tags. Should I use the ones that were sent to me but just cross out the old cabin number? Or should I print from the online check in (I only have a black and white laser jet printer no color) or wait till we get to the pier and get one from the stevedore?

Yes, the courtyard has a sauna. There is. Also a large sun deck above the courtyard that should make up for the small balcony. In addition, the jewel is the only ship which has the concierge lounge in the haven area. It is up a flight of stairs between the garden villas, there are snacks there and a great coffee machine.

I would probably skip the spa pass and take advantage of the haven area. Also, you can probably print out new luggage tags from the ncl website where you would get your e docs.

Enjoy your trip!

Luggage tags you should get at the pier or print them in b&w and they will still switch them for you. Don't cross out the old cabin they have to be replaced.

Just wanted to say congrats and you'll love the Haven. We were on the Epic 9.28-10.5 in Barcelona and had cabin 16003. Loved everything about it and used the extra bedroom as our closet and storage for suitcases 😃. Oh that bathroom...heaven in the Haven. Enjoy your trip.

Just something to be aware of or ask when you board. On our last couple of times on the Jewel, the women's sauna in the Haven was out of service. The men's worked fine. So determine what you need before they sell out of spa passes. We rarely ate meals in the Haven on Jewel as it was the same as room service. The Haven Butler has to go to the venues you order from and put "to go" orders together and bring them up to serve. So the whole meal is picked up at one time and delivered to the Haven and then served there. I was an early bird and when I went out for coffee the Haven Butler would have 8-10 orders he brought up on a tray and cart and was setting up for service. We found going to Cagney's/Moderno was almost quicker and hotter. The Jewel Haven is a great spot. I hope you enjoy!!

And I agree with others, do not scratch out your old boarding pass, get the porters to put new ones on for you.

Thanks Andrea, :) Yes I had already called the Concierge Desk earlier this week to make dining reservations for the week and those are all showing on my reservation.

I have a question for any of you. We will be in our first Suite in January. Where do I get the Concierge Desk phone number? Or since I booked with a TA, do I have to go through the TA to do this stuff.

Also, my Father and his wife are in a Penthouse Suite and myself and some other family members are in a 2 bdrm. We booked through different TAs so just trying to figure out things.

I'd like to book us things like the Imaginarium and a couple restaurants. I've never prebooked restaurants, as I've always been able to get reservations once on board. I also hate prepaying for those as we have a boatload of OBC. But with the new UDP (we don't have it) I'm wondering if maybe we should, but I don't want to prepay. We actually have $850 OBC in the 2 bdrm cabin, so prepaying is not an option for us.

Thanks for any info

Meet with the concierge when you board. You will not have any trouble getting restaurants. do not prepay anything

It might be different now but two years ago we took an upsell from a forward suite to the Owners Suite. They told me just to mark out the previous cabin number and write in the new one. Or I could print out new ones with my edocs. I used the tags that had been mailed to me and marked out the old cabin number and put my new one. No problems.

Hi Lisa,

Congrats. Did you get to heel your SBC?

Johan

Johan, yes that was the first question I asked. Earlier this week when I called the Concierge Desk. I had spoke with Stephanie and she was going to try to get me moved up but that cost was about $500 more but she was keeping my SBC. So when I called yesterday they did call a Supervisor and they said yes they could let me keep what I had. It is still all showing :)
