How many of us have gotten caught into the trap of getting carried away in a discussion? As much as I try not to, I know I have. :eek:

It's so easy to forget this is an internet board. Sometimes the written word does not translate the same as if you were talking to the CC member in person and see their body language, facial expression, crinkle at their mouth and eyes.

Let's turn the negativity around and laugh at some of the things we have done, seen and vow to keep the board friendly :)

Well isn't this thread a breath of fresh air. Thanks Kazu for thinking it up and being willing to take the plunge and admitting to getting caught up.

I must admit I have a few "hot button" issues, mostly about my children and their health, but I admit to getting my knickers in a knot when Canadian rules and regulations are dismissed as arbitrary. I came face to face with this with international guests in our home a few weeks ago. I can't imagine going to another country and mocking their laws and I don't handle it very well when it happens.

But back on topic, the CC thread on the HAL board that unexpectedly got me riled was the one on chocolate diamonds. I am probably the only one that remembers it but it was an innocent question by the OP that garnered opinions on her choice of jewelry, not answering the question.

I admit to being really touchy on the subject for very personal reasons.

there can always be misinformation but that is usually corrected at least three times here :p It's how the message is conveyed, perceived and/or responded to that I was referring to.

This is so funny. Remember the party game where the first person is handed a statement written on a piece of paper and then whispers it to person number two. It is then whispered down the line through numerous people until the last person repeats the statement out loud. The results are hilarious and bear no resemblance to the original statement.

That's very often the path followed by CC posts. Sometimes funny and sometimes very sad.

Agree with the OP :). Some folks also need to understand that you can disagree with a post without attacking the poster. Too many times we see good threads go quickly downhill because it get personal. We could all improve our lives if we learned to take a deep breath, chuckle quietly, and move on.
