We will be on the Celebrity Silhouette in April. Its our first cruise. I am wondering about breakfast options. I know room service is free, and that the buffet will be open. I am wondering if the main dining room opens for breakfast and if so, is it a get there when your ready kind of scenario...ie no seating times.:)

You don't usually have a very long wait for a table for breakfast in the MDR, particularly if you are willing to share a bigger table. Also available for breakfast is Bistro on 5 ($7pp charge) they serve breakfast crepes. Aqua spa cafe as mentioned, the buffet and room service. If you have an aqua class cabin you can also eat breakfast in Blu :)

Have a great cruise :D

As others have said, the MDR is open for breakfast every day and it is open seating so arrive whenever you'd like. But the hours there are limited in comparison to the buffet. The MDR is usually open for 1 1/2 hours with the timing varying a little depending on the arrival in port. Typically it is 7:30 to 9:00AM or 8:00 to 9:30AM with exact times posted in the daily newsletter delivered to your cabin the night before. The buffet opens earlier and breakfast is served until just before lunch begins. The selection is generally better in the buffet and they have a very nice selection. On the flip side the MDR is less hectic with its table service. Personally, we prefer the buffet due to the timing and selection.

If we have an early excursion we'll order room service using the hang tag menus to place our order the night before since there is usually a good wait for orders placed in the morning for immediate delivery. If we have a late excursion, or if it is a sea day, we'll usually just head to the buffet when we're ready.

We also enjoy the MDR. We hate wandering around looking for a table at breakfast in the Ocean Buffet. Check out the spa buffet they make a wonderful yogurt/fruit/granola parfait. Yum!

Just to note that those parfaits are an upcharge...not free unfortunately, but they do offer a really good warm oatmeal as well as fruit plates etc. We mostly eat breakfast in the MDR enjoying the service as well as the opportunity to meet others and discuss plans for the day. Have found the breakfast menu to cover just about everything we could want and it's very relaxing to not rush around first thing!

It may have only been Century, but the service in the MDR for Breakfast was beyond abysmally slow.. as in over an hour for a basic eggs Benedict or the french toast of the day. if you have somewhere to be, the MDR was not the way to go for breakfast( surprisingly lunch was far faster and used the same staff so go figure)

and yes the hours were very limited. the buffet opened earlier and stayed serving longer.

There is something nice about room service breakfast on our veranda watching the sea go by... it is also nice on a morning when we have early shore excursions.
That's our favorite way too, especially when we are up before the ship docks so we can sit out in our bathrobes enjoying the scenery along the approach to the next port while eating breakfast.

Doing it that way on mornings with early shore excursions is especially efficient as it saves so much time.

Also, different places on the ship are better for different kinds of food so on days when you are staying on the ship there is no reason why you can't move around, getting one favorite breakfast item here and another there.

We delude ourselves by rationalizing it as exercise, working off calories as we move around the ship from one food area to another. ;)
