The things excluded from UBP; specialty coffee, bottled water, drinks over $15, tastings; spa, fitness classes, upcharge items in MDR, specialty dining locations that are an upcharge over SDP, photos, etc.

Gratuities! You can use it for anything you would charge to your account, which includes gratuities, specialty coffees, cupcakes, dinner or food options like Food Republic (Escape) -- anything that isn't included. Free money is never a bad thing.

You can use non-refundable OBC for any gratuities you wish to give any individual (kids club, butler, concierge, bartender, waiter etc) but not for the daily service charges. If NCL gave it to you - it's non-refundable OBC.

A few cruises we are looking at offer onboard credit as a perk. Crazy question....if you are getting unlimited drinks, free speciality dinning, and wifi what would you use this on? That's a lot of tshirts!:loudcry:

CruiseNext certificates, excursions, Bingo, additional specialty dinners, photos, additional tips for your cabin steward or any other crew member (just go to Guest Services, give them the crew member name and the amount. It will be put in their account and you will be given a voucher to give them so they know of the tip addition).

Last month, we used our OBC for: spa pass, hair cut, shore excursion, cruise next certificates, sushi lunch, teppanyaki dinner, gift shop items, photos, more sun screen, specialty dining package, internet package.

Does anyone know if the cases of bottles water are available to purchase once on board rather than pre-cruise? That could be something to use OBC towards.

Yes. We will be doing this as well.

Can you use them to cover the $13.50 daily service charge?
Not if the OBC came from NCL.

to expand on this:

if the on board credit is non-refundable, you can not use it for the 13.50 service charge (this is usually the OBC from NCL)

if the onboard credit is refundable, you can use it for the 13.50 service charge (this is usually the OBC you get from your TA, OBC if the port tax was less then what you made, OBC you purchase for yourself, OBC if you miss a port, etc)
