  1. Considering RCI IT track record, I would hate to see how messed up that would turn out. I agree that it would be a good thing, ex was a second name of 4 person, another friend is a nckname person. Just questioning the ability of RCI to implement without MAJOR hassles.
  2. So, on a cruise in Nov 2022, I booked a cruise departing May 2023. I was on the cruise with my then GF, and booked the new cruise for both of us. We got $600 POBC as it was a 10 night cruise in a Grand Suite. Between the cruises, we broke up. I asked some friends if they wanted to go, but no one was able to do so. And I actually had a two bedroom Grand Suite, so it did not have to be a "close" friend. ๐Ÿ˜„ As per the normal CC advice, I did not cancel her, just had a no-show, so they would not reprice the cruise. So I am on the cruise, and check my account and it is very short on OBC. I also get OBC from my travel agent. I ask the Concierge about this and he checks on the computer, he ends up calling RCI HQ a few times, and finally got an answer. They divided the OBC between the two of us (which had NEVER been done before), and could not transfer from "her account" to mine since she did not board, her account was "locked." So I lost almost half the OBC from Next Cruise. And, no, they did not split the OBC equally between us. So after the cruise, I check my C&A account, and I only got 20 points. Hmm, 1 for sailing plus one for suite, plus one for solo times 10 nights should be 30 points. I call, and it seems that if you are solo due to a no-show, you do not get solo points, you have to be BOOKED as solo. The points thing is in the cruise contract, in fine print, buried. Just a heads up if you are going to go solo, to think about rebooking as solo for all the solo perks.
  3. Oh, and the reason they harp on setting watches is that some people STILL miss the change and then are late back to the ship. And BTW, leaving your phone to automatically change can bite you, as the Captain doesn't always change the ships time to match the port time. And people who are set to automatically change, get bit and come back late to the ship.
  4. YES, YES, YES Although I sailed on the Ft Lauderdale to Baltimore repo in May and Vision is also nice. Close to Grandeur, but just enough different to drive you NUTS. ๐Ÿ˜„
  5. And to add insult to the process, those "porters" are longshoremen at most ports and make more money that many of the cruise passengers.
  6. It doesn't matter what your status was when he last cruised with you. What matters is YOUR status when he turned 18. He will have the same status. You can call and get his spouse an account and link it to his. But it seems now they may need proof of living at the same address. I don't know if the Loyalty Ambassador can set up an account for her on board, but they can fix linking and wrong status, as we had an issue and got it fixed.
  7. You MAY be able to cancel later with a refund, IF they have a waiting list for that excursion and can fill your space.
  8. The minimum bid for an upgrade on our cruise is $560 per person. But we are in an OS, so the upgrade would be to the one Royal Suite. ๐Ÿ˜„
  9. Cruises to Cuba when they had them. Cuba required 6 month validity even for cruise passengers.
  10. I am a Jr. The RCI site is fine with my suffix. The C&A site cannot handle it. So if I book with my legal name, my C&A number can't be added online as the names don't match. I have to have my TA add it. Worse was the time they managed to combine my ex-wife's account (one cruise) and my girl friend's account (several cruises) and put all the credits on my ex-wife's account. That took almost 15 hours on the phone to get it straightened out.
  11. Nicer in what way? I want to cruise on a ship. Not a floating amusement park with 6000 people. Just because you like the newer ships doesn't mean everyone does. When she was sailing out of Baltimore, she made almost every sailing at 105% or high capacity. So I am not alone in enjoying her.
  12. WHY would anyone put a high end whiskey (or other spirit) in a mixed drink?????
  13. Again, easy to prevent over preparation. Come up with 100 or more tasks. Use a computer to randomize a mix of tasks, with some ability for the CD to mark a task or two as not suitable. The problem was, it was always the same tasks.
  14. Most airlines allow ONE traveling companion to check and board with the priority person. NOT 5.
  15. My emails from the concierge for our cruise are from Noemi Ros Calabozo
  16. I think that dining with the Captain is limited to those who have Captain in their title. ๐Ÿ˜„
  17. Where in the cabin do you have space to do that? I do not unpack in hotels, but I do on board due to the lack of space. And we normally have a full suite.
  18. Let's see. How well has your grocery store been stocked over the last year? Everything has gone through periods of shortages. Why wouldn't this extend to the cruise industry? It happens. Welcome to the 2020s
  19. OMG. Based on this thread and my previous experience, I emailed the SL concierge about making sure they did not run out of cachaca. The Bar Manager is saying they have not had cachaca on board Enchantment since June. I may have to change cruise lines.
  20. Not technically a fiancee at this point. ๐Ÿ˜„ But, no problem.
  21. Not necessarily. A LOT of postings where the price is much higher for 3 or 4 in one cabin versus two cabins.
  22. How does what night formal night is affect your packing????
  23. www.kayak.com Which ever one that meets your schedule and is cheapest.
