  1. From the description of the rules what does it say? Just follow the rules and you will be good.
  2. I keep my cup clean by keeping the plastic wrap on it
  3. Assuming you have a kid, than it would be your job to teach the kid the rules. But if you are asking because you have no kids, than really why would you care unless they are mis behaving around you?
  4. Well, I respect that a person wants to disconnect for vacation, and only focus on vacation, but my $800 phone is not just a phone. Plus personally, I don't really understand why you want to completely disconnect from the world. But I get it. So, my $800 phone, is my camera, it is my alarm clock, it keeps me from getting lost, gives me info when I need it in ports such as nearby good places to eat. Older time ships, had a daily news not, if I want, I can read it on phone, but I like reading the news. Was a newspaper at one time, but now my phone, but that is a tool on my phone. Not to mention, it has the RCCL app, sends me reminders of upcoming events etc. I'm on vacation to relax, but, part of relaxing is having my modern tools, to help me when needed.
  5. well, if I retire, and hit a jackpot, than I might desire to do laundry, but I guess, I would also afford to have the ship do it for me? But for the average person, 1-2 weeks, I have never had a desire to do laundry on vacation.
  6. Like everything people would "post" how the would grab 4 drinks on last night after midnight, and hand them out, or take 4 waters or 4 of something and keep. One person even said they do this, and end up giving leaving 8 waters for the crew. So, to stop this, save money for the late night people, and save the staff for restocking the unused water (like they really need the water for a tip). So the easy fix is 5-5 so last day, no free grabs. Most changes occur because of abuse.......whether you want to believe it or not, it is just my opinion. Plus, I never really benefited from it.
  7. I go on two week trips every year, with part of days on a ship, and still, never did laundry.
  8. I remember when, people actually complained that they DON'T change the menu on a regular basis.....oh my, now it is changed people complain.....oh well, welcome to Cruise Critic, and let's not forget paying for water in a can, that you can get free
  9. I have never had the desire to do laundry on a cruise.....never
  10. Last I checked headline news, a famous person was arrested in another country, served8 months, and had a prisoner swap and people still ask if it is illegal to bring drugs into a different country?
  11. How can you be solo, if you are traveling with another human? For the ship, the review is good, but the one thing that I always wonder about is reviews, stating that the ship makes noise (engine noise on a ship?) or the ship is "dated" when ships are moving working machines in the ocean designed to operate over 30 years. For the poster, you had a unique situation, where you had a balcony over the propulsion system. Engines are usually mid ship and lower decks will have more noise sometime but regardless the ships do make noise. Why did you complain when you would not move? Not like they would stop the ship, during naptime? They did offer to move you. Sounds like you really enjoyed the trip with your child, and being on older smaller ships I think make it easier to work with when traveling with kids.
  12. Do nothing. You have everything you need, and the .000001% chance that you are left behind not having a passport will be the easiest and cheapest issue you face (last minute air, hotels, etc). Plus, with those island so close, you might be able to charter/taxi/boat to a USA island and fly from there.
  13. The warping of word definitions is a favorite pass time on these boards. You must bring in your carry-on, wine, soda, water or any liquid to drink.....you can use any rule, or try to warp any rule, but it stays the same, carry-on and you can drink it, checked luggage, and it stays locked up until last day.
  14. I'm not going to argue with you, but the pay for someone in the neighborhood of an E3, married with dependents is $3700 which includes BAH and BAF. It does not include the fact they aren't paying much for medical or other Fringe Benefits. My son had no issues buying and living in a 5 bedroom, 4 bath, house with a full garage, two kids and a wife while an E4. If they are on food stamps, than the spouse should maybe find a job? But it is not the military pay. You must understand that military pay is in various items, and the amount you quoted was only one piece. I just don't want others to believe they only get $1,400 a month so I'm responding. Going back to the post, the pay for the employees on a ship, is not based on USA rates, and for many, the pay exceeds the pay if they chose to live at home.
  15. Military pay is a monthly pay, plus a housing allowance pay, and a food allowance pay. So the actual pay is not $1,400 if you want to compare it to other private pay. You must add all of them up. Also, most people have fringe benefits, that are also included in pay, but in the military, it is paid for and it the best for any private industry. You can't compare the pay for a crew member to the army, and most important, to USA salary ranges either. For many of the crew, they are making more than if they worked at home, and they are happily doing it.
  16. I would go to the desk, complain about it, and give it back.
  17. I only tip the auto gratuity because that is the "customary" amount to tip on a ship, and not what any other perceptions or personal opinions. I believe your post is about and what is customary in the USA.
  18. My cruise vacation, or any vacation of that matter, is made up of many pieces, and in the case of the cruise, it is the cost of gas to port, parking, tolls, hotel night, cruise price, tax, port fees, tips, extra tips, upcharge for a specialty night, drinks, etc. It is a total price. Not a piece of total. I prepay as much as I can in one big package. Just about everything I listed went up in price. There are ways to save and still enjoy a trip. But sometimes we like to complain instead of making a sacrifice.
  19. I would never expect seeing a discussion on the dress code on an International ship like this. When traveling internationally, a dress code is not suggestions, like say on Carnival where anything goes. They truly expect you to follow it. Also watch out for the ports where if you go certain places, wearing shorts will not be permitted.
  20. I have a solution, let's build bigger ships!!!!!!!!! It's a ship, and space is limited. Every inch of space is used.
  21. You're not wrong, that is the drinking age. Any age can sit in any of the lounges. The Entire Ship sells Drinks. Every show, the casino, everyplace. All the food places. They also have bars in them. Unless it is a place that is clearly marked adults only like you said, they are free to go where they want. I'm amazed that this post is still going.
  22. Yes they do, they break the seal, take a chug to make sure it is wine. If it is not, they keep it.
