  1. All prices went up along with food. So, the drink package covers $14 since they raised the price up one dollar.
  2. Kind of funny, but my kids when they were kids, would have the soda package. On a regular basis, they would slide up to the bar, order themselves a cold one (soda) and move on. There is a difference with a bar on land, and a cruise ship, that is filled with families. Everyone has fun their own way, and the bars are the only place to serve soda (Please, kids don't want to carry an cup around all day).
  3. that won't help, with it being a week old. Plus, colds usually clear up fast.
  4. You booked based on your cash. Don't regret it. The bed is the same. The bathroom is the same. You don't spend time in your cabin. You spend time outside the cabin where the fun is. The room is to sleep in, not live in. I'm happy as long as I have a place to sleep and shower.
  5. So, Remember this. A crew member is asked if they would like a bottle of water. They have a choice to say yes, or no. If no, it makes them look "ungrateful", and they want that cash tip later. If they say yes, you are happy. Now, the crew has all the water they need on the ship. They don't pay for it. Even the non crew, many people don't pay for water. So of course they say yes. In the crew bar, and in crew areas, it is not a vacation. It' a community. They have there own facilities including crew bars. They pay less than $2.00 for a mixed drink, maybe a $1.00 to $1.25 for a beer. I'm going to guess that if soda was not free, than it would be really cheap. Imagine you were hoping for a $20 tip, and instead, you get some soda. They will always be happy, but please, remember, water is not a tip. CASH is what they want. (but will still smile at the water that is $0.00 to them)
  6. So, did you know that if the crew was to carry water that is sold on the ship, than it is very possible, that they could be questioned of where they got it from? Now, the crew are not little kids and they really don't want bottles of water that you give them, since such things such as water is readily available for them in the crew areas. Wine most likely turned over also, and/or discarded.
  7. I'm on vacation, paid $2000 for the cruise. I'm paying for drinks all week. Getting a specialty dining. So I'm not going to worry about an extra few dollars to have a case of water in my room.
  8. I once heard a person order the french onion soup, and wanted no onions. Yes, sometimes things can be customized but the dining is a mass chaos in the kitchen with pre planned dishes. Depends on it is assembled, can determine anything special.
  9. But it is a music place, and people like loud music, and thumping base. Plenty of other places for quite, and conversation on Oasis Class.
  10. So for this post, I see that some people don't think extended families can't hang together, in their favorite place? Next I learned from this post is that that the Spanish culture, is not allowed to be loud and have fun, with their normal customs? Lastly, I learned that kids can't join parents with enjoyment, and listening to music?
  11. I don't repeat vacations. With that being said, the Icon is a new type of ship, so one day I'll go on it. It is different. It is unique.
  12. It is based on the supplier for the date you are going. You don't need the cup to get a drink at the bar, only in a freestyle machine.
  13. You have a .0000001% chance of getting upgraded unless you bid the very top amount than it becomes .0000002%. So don't worry about it
  14. whoever it was must of just sat on the balcony and smoked all day to ruin your trip. But you should know, that a person needs to be caught to do so, and taking pictures by overhanging your balcony, is not the safest thing for you to do.
  15. When my kids were kids, always only had one stateroom. It's just for sleeping, so no need to spend more money. But I did not grow up in luxury, and the kids were happy to be on the ship. Tips can be prepaid, or once on board. I do prefer prepay to get it done. No need to pay for food either, the MDR and Windjammer are all included. If a ship tour is on sale, take it now, because it can sell out, and it won't be cheaper than what you see now.
  16. Curious, what do you need cash for? Ship is cashless, and most places take a credit card.
  17. Just an FYI, the ship has been sailing since the 1980's and is an old design of Royal Caribbean. Rooms are small and the balcony suites were added later. They are not what you might be used to on Carnival. I am booked in Sept 2023 and my expectations are exactly that, small, and comfortable with a balcony.
  18. The cruise line does not own the tours, they just contract with the tour companies. No one knows exactly why so few, but if you know any tour operator that wants to contract with the ship, let them know to contact the company.
  19. So, tell us all how you got Covid on the last day and not the day before, or at the gas station when you drove home, or basically any 5 day period that covid had time to grab a hold of you? I'm not saying you did not get it, but really how do you know it was last day? How will pre cruise testing help, with getting Covid on exactly the last day which would be 7 days later? I just saying questions you should ask yourself before posting about Covid.
  20. Just to be clear with the poster, the question is if the food you pay for, such as you said at Captain Jack's bar, which is chicken wings and stull like that, is included in the UDP such as say playmakers where you get a $20 credit. We all know plenty of free food, but the person that buys UDP wants to know if the "paid" food is included in the package. The hot dogs, and hamburgers are ok, and free, but I would really like to know also, if I can get my chicken wings. Hopefully someone will answer the question since I am interested in knowing also.
  21. I am Diamond, and last Friday, I was on hold for 1 minute. (Being Diamond had nothing to do with it, but everyone likes to say it, so I felt that I should)
  22. The poster is concerned about eating at the exact time daily, regardless of the time zone. I'm not sure why it matters, but read the question. now the answer is it is up to the captain, and you will find out once on the ship.
  23. Yes, the ocean has marine animals.....jelly fish and sharks. Do be careful, they don't read Cruise Critic, so they don't know when they are required to show up
