  1. Only excursions I took in Alaska was a Food tour in Juneau, which was awesome, and something you can't do on your own. Most ports you can tour on your own, without a tour and save tons of money.
  2. Many times I drop my wife off with the luggage, and go park. This goes the same with airports etc. Often times those decisions are made based on the spot. I don't think anyone can say with certain, that your abilities will be ok with the walk.
  3. Not really. This was a first "dose" visit. The price of the sessions, would be dependent on you finding a person to continue with the sessions. There is no magic one session cure for smoking. The same goes with pain management. One session helps, but it must be a series of sessions, to make this work. So, was it a rip off? No, it was not, and it seems the person told you how it works. Nothing to beware of, unless you don't actually do research.
  4. Wait, they are adults? I think the hyperlink is nothing more than younger adults can go to an even, which is exactly the same as other events, but an encouragement to go so that they can find others same age......but the reality is, they are adults and can do anything on the ship they want, with one exception in the USA, and that is get drunk.
  5. Round trips are for those that want easy, and one way trips are for the adventurous folks.
  6. For breakfast order room service. It is free if all you are getting is pastries. For Pizza.....well, I see no reason to carry a small piece to the room to eat. I just eat it at the spot, and carry the beverage.
  7. Trays in "any" buffet are now a thing of the past. Cuts down on "waste" which includes food waste as well as washing waste.
  8. ATT is $10 a day unlimited data/text/voice. It is capped at $100 per month. A second line is $5.00 per day. Although an extra charge, it is not that expensive compared to using the ships wifi. Note, the daily rate is not included for ships.
  9. Well, I never ate the classic items. The new menu, is good. The old menu was old and tired, and around way too long. There is no such thing as a "good" menu when you serve that many people, but I always find it good. I'm pretty sure, this "new" menu is not so new, but rather a rebirth of an old menu with the ideas of different theme nights. Yes, maybe some of it was changed, but this is not all that new. A picky eater is just a person, not exposed to foods from multiple cultures. But the ship does have the windjammer.
  10. you can sit anyplace on the ship, watch a game, listen to music etc. You will tip 18% for anything your order, so no need to tip more. My rule of thumb is never tip more than customary. Enjoy
  11. High Horse? Many people on these boards will say what you say, such as why is it my business? No matter where I go, it is human nature, to make judgements of others. Like if 3 couples sitting at the dinner table, dressed really nice (slacks/dress shirts for men and dresses for women) and the 4th couple comes in with a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops, those people around that couple, will judge them. Will it change the meal? No. But they will be judged as being disrespectful to the recommended attire for the evening. It's not about the "staff", or how much you tip (I tip only the recommended amounts and 18%). Or if you are polite. IF you read my post, you will also notice that it is not only the dress suggestions on the ship, but the idea when you get off the ship, it flows with you to how you respect other items in the countries visited. It's a package deal. So although it does not impact my vacation, it does impact my impression, which is kept to myself. It is a fact of life.
  12. Where have you been in the last couple years? Yes, they have a lounge but because of overcrowding, they tried some new things to spread it out. Not everyone likes being crammed into a small lounge, and then they gave free drinks only during happy hour, but decided that the concept was a hit, so it was expanded to the entire day. But this is old news
  13. IF you don't like it, than it's not for you. If you are overly sensitive to your lifestyle, than it is also not for you. Much "comedy" has people poking fun of themselves, there race, color, religion, nationality. Those that don't like it should not go.
  14. Don't think it is about age, but rather the lack of respect. When traveling outside the USA, the word suggestion means to do it.....but here, so many people want to warp the intent to doing what they want. I once saw a lady throw a fit, for being told they can't enter a place of worship, because she would not put a cover up on. But that was one of many cases where someone from the USA, thought the suggestions weren't for them. There are truely so many things I see when I travel, that I'm dumbfounded of why people do it.
  15. I tip nothing per bag, and always got my bags.
  16. Don't know you, so good bye. By the way, Happy Hour was way too crowded, so now happy hour is all day long, and you get 4 drinks for it, or more. Turn down at night was a nice touch, but certainly nothing that will make me go to another line, that has the same cuts.
  17. I'm finding the whole post amusing. First the poster did not loose the bags, but a "friend". Bags are put on carts and than loaded. The process at the terminal you can usually see them load a bag on a cart. Now, just like in an airport, those bags are touched by many people, not just one. So tipping and throwing in a tipping amount is completely irrelevant to the discussion, so, it sounds like it is a topic to encourage people to tip a longshoreman more money to supplement their 100K jobs. Yes, at any point, something can happen to the bag, and it was possible it happened. In the event it happens, the cruise line will ship the bag to the next port. So being without the entire week, without knowing any facts is also questionable. Not saying it did not happen, but the post has may questionable statements in it, to make me wonder why it is being posted.
  18. IF you look on the ship, almost ALL PLASTIC is being removed, or reduced. Canned water is here to stay, and if you feel you must pay for it, when it is free, than that is what you will get. Can we stop the debate? It's a done deal
  19. I have a great idea. Show the menu to the "picky person" and let them decide. Even kids can figure it out.
  20. The math only matters with the bottom line number, not the funky details. If that final number is acceptable, buy it.
  21. I am hoping for 5 cookies instead of 3 cookies on a plate, that I can get myself. Maybe a free keychain. But if I hit the jackpot of gifts, a highlighter so I can highlight activities on the non existant daily planner.
  22. usually with check in times you can go 30 minutes earlier if they check it. However, pretty much you are at the earliest times anyway, so it does not matter much.
  23. That was for a very short period of time, when the ships were trying to sail, and they came up with certain rules, for different countries, to please them. But that is ancient history now
