Edge Oct 24 T/A now going to Azores rather than Bermuda
SkystheLimit replied to omeinv's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Bermuda is not a guaranteed stop on TA's. We have missed it twice because of winds, etc. Our last cruise the Captain elected to skip the port 3 days before we were scheduled to arrive. Headed south to San Juan and the islands. If you really want to see Bermuda, the best way is to fly there. -
What a truly remarkable woman she was. A completely dedicated and faithful servant. A life well lived.

Azamara loyalty to split off from Celebrity 1 February 2023
SkystheLimit replied to cruisestitch's topic in Celebrity Cruises
This is correct based on what I was told by Azamara. As for Azamara, we are looking forward to their new ownership. Know it will have some hiccups ,but ,truthfully Celebrity never made this brand a priority. We love the size of the R/A ships. -
Should we switch to the Regent world cruise?
SkystheLimit replied to Piaa's topic in Regent Seven Seas Cruises
You might want to consider booking the Mariner as your test. While we like the Mariner it is not the same as the newer Splendour or Explorer. Pros and cons to all in some people's eyes. -
Angry about O accepting unvaxed passengers?

Yes it is. -
Angry about O accepting unvaxed passengers?

I understand but at this point and going forward I think the choice may be not to go on a ship. Sad but possibly true. -
Angry about O accepting unvaxed passengers?
SkystheLimit replied to Flatbush Flyer's topic in Oceania Cruises
There's just no way to know what people are not vaccinated in the general public. So, in many ways we may be exposing ourselves every day if we leave our cocoons. Are you concerned that you will contract covid or are you concerned that a non-vaccinated passenger might contract covid and cause inconvenience to all because of a serious illness? We were on a cruise in June where everyone was required to be vaccinated and tested prior to embarkation. In spite of being double vaccinated, double boosted, and masking I still acquired covid. The other 3 in the group(not all boosted) including my spouse never got sick--thankfully. Very few countries now require vaccination or testing for entry. Not to say it is right but it is what it is. Cruise lines one by one are following suit. -
Can't wait for your play by play! We love Iceland! See it's rumbling again. The locals told us last year they were finally happy to see the volcano erupt. It stopped the multiple daily earthquakes for awhile and they could get some sleep. We have this cruise booked next year so for now we will live vicariously thru you and Iain. Bon voyage and safe travels.

What new itineraries would you like to see Azamara do in 2024?
SkystheLimit replied to takemewithyou's topic in Azamara
Funchal in the height of summer to see the "blue" island and hydrangeas in all their glory. -
We drove from Atlanta in June for our Equinox cruise. Stopped in Gainesville the first night. Then the night before the cruise in Delray Beach--fun town. Parking at the port was so easy and reasonable. We walked off the ship and with the help of a porter we were in our car within 20 minutes of getting off the ship. Spent one night in Gainesville on the return. Did not miss the airport one bit!

The filet and the salt and pepper pasta as a side. The antipasti board is also nice but definitely needs to be shared. Spumoni Donuts were not on the menu last month on the Equinox.
-
Definitely Jolly Ranchers were the relief I found.

We were on the same itinerary on the Equinox 3 weeks ago. It is definitely not formal! There were many first time cruisers that enjoyed dressing up a bit. However, most were in casual comfortable clothes. I can't comment about jeans other than you will not need or want them on this itinerary. It is hot! Dress comfortably and appropriately for a nice dinner in your local restaurant, club, or at home with friends. No need for a jacket.

Entire Group Got Sick on Celebrity
SkystheLimit replied to buckeyedonna's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Chiming in here. It did not prevent me from acquiring Covid on our Equinox cruise 3 weeks ago. No one else in our group of 4 tested positive. Ironically, I was the one that stayed in the cabin/ on the balcony most of the day, did not get off the ship, did not go to any shows and drove instead of flying. As for protection, the 2nd booster may have prevented me from becoming very ill. I don't know but wouldn't want to feel worse than I have. -
Absolutely!

We miss the Elite Happy Hour in the Sky lounge. We always meet someone interesting and well traveled. On our Equinox cruise a couple of weeks ago, the Sky lounge was virtually empty from 5:00 onward.
-
Have enjoyed your review so much--you have a great writing style. You must be really patient to post because the wi-fi on the Equinox last week was abysmal! The Captain announced the Covid counts on the last day of our cruise. He also said that the crew would no longer be restricted in getting off the ship in port. I tested positive on Monday after getting off the ship on Saturday. So, it is definitely a good idea to test after returning home. I LOL about your 140 pound soaking wet husband having to leave you behind. Mine would have the same issue!

Actually, there is currently quite a bit of Sargassa grass in many places in the Caribbean. We saw a lot while at sea last week on the Equinox. Some places clean/rake the beaches. Others do not. It is part of summer for many beaches.

Please confirm latest mask requirements on Equinox
SkystheLimit replied to Diamond Dandy's topic in Celebrity Cruises
You won't know until you check in. We were on the Equinox last week and received a letter during the boarding process stating where masks were required. For last week, masks were required in the theatre, Celebrity Central, and the casino. No drink service in the theatre. Casino bar was very busy as that was where theatre patrons were stopping for drinks to take into the theatre. -
There were many in their 20's and 30's on our 6 day cruise last week. Agree with others that the longer the cruise the older the passengers tend to be. That said, there was an 85 year old woman on our cruise that ran circles around everybody onboard.

Oops! Masks still needed to Germany
SkystheLimit replied to irishwitchy's topic in Regent Seven Seas Cruises
Lufthansa requires masks as of two days ago. -
Interesting. I love roasted cauliflower. Maybe I should give radishes another chance.

I have never found joy in a radish! My husband loves them right out the ground which is what they taste like to me-dirt!
