  1. You didn't mention which ship, but if it's POA it sounds like they are cancelling reservations for Cagney's and the Bistro due to the reduced ship capacity and reduced staff. I've read several posts of people thinking they have secured reservations which were subsequently cancelled by NCL.
  2. https://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/pride-of-america/whats-on-board See: "Note -- this venue is temporarily closed" -- from NCL website.
  3. My response is off-topic from Roll Calls, but I've noticed on other social media sites there are more trip reports. For instance I am interested in POA reports of which there have been very few here on CC, and the ones I've seen have been primarily negative. However, on other sites I've seen MANY trip reports, some 'live from' reports, and lots of positive comments.
  4. Their profile says they've been a member since 2014, about the same as you.......
  5. There are private FB groups you can join so the whole 'world' doesn't have to know you're gone X amount of days. Meanwhile I've seen many roll calls with spreadsheets so people can put their full names, cities, and other information for participation -- none of which is secure and is open to anyone to view. Any unscrupulous person could easily do a Google search for addresses, etc that are all readily available online.
  6. There was just a somewhat lengthy thread about this same topic a few weeks ago, but it was deleted, presumably because there were too many references to social media overtaking CC. I'll make the same comments here that I did in that thread -- there are so many more active social media sites to get information these days and people are using them. I've been a member here for 18+ years and the activity seems to be declining, especially on things like roll calls.
  7. One of the reasons we started sailing with Princess many years ago was they limited the number of kids onboard. I can recall many threads here on CC where people tried to book a family cruise on Princess and were told they had already met the number allowed for that specific sailing and could not book with kids. We're not 'anti-kid' by any means, but did appreciate the limited number of kids. I am going to research Virgin Cruises options due to the adults-only atmosphere -- it might be something we'd enjoy down the road.
  8. We've never had a problem getting a table for 2 at meals, so if you want to dine by yourselves you can! You don't have to eat with strangers if you'd rather not. Have a great trip 🙂
  9. I noticed this too on some recent cruises I was researching. I wondered why it wasn't showing the Premiere option too, but chalked it up to the unstable website 🙂 That was several days ago, so now it makes me really wonder what is going on.
  10. I've seen lots of posts online about POA job fairs all over the country. It would seem NCL is working hard to get people hired.
  11. Agree with your comments despite what others have said. Our Alaska cruise was highly impacted by the toddler in the room next to us. I'm sure they had a great time on their cruise. We however, did not enjoy the ongoing screaming & crying. It effected our sleeping and using our balcony. Cannot imagine being on an hours-long excursion and enduring that. And before people flame me to ashes -- I'm a grandmother.
  12. This! As I'm reading this thread I'm wondering why people are fumbling with wifi or whatever -- screenshots/PDFs people!
  13. I've read several reports of people with upcoming cruises contacting NCL and being told only June and July cruisers impacted have been contacted so far, and those who could be bumped after August were yet to be notified. That's not my direct knowledge, just reports read elsewhere by many concerned about their upcoming cruises.
  14. I'm curious too -- we have a POA cruise planned for January booked direct. Someone on another thread mentioned social media posts for more information. I followed their directions and was blown away by how many more reports of cancellations there are out there that aren't being reported here on CC. So far there doesn't appear to be much rhyme or reason to who is being cancelled, but you have a good point. I have heard several people say they used NCL's 2-fer airfare vs booking direct, but who knows if that has anything to do with it.
  15. We recently cancelled a cruise using FCDs too. Immediately after cancellation (within minutes) they appeared back in our accounts. I see mine by logging into Princess.com, selecting the 'My Account' tab, then 'Home', and they are reflected at the top of the page under my name and Captain's Circle number.
  16. Yes, the package is available on Princess Cays. T&C from Princess' website: https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/food-and-dining/beverages/ The 4th bullet says 'The package may be used on our private islands......'
  17. Does anyone know if the people who have been cancelled were cruise only passengers? We have the 4-day pre-cruise land tour booked along with our cruise. Surely they aren't cancelling those??
  18. I just tried and was able to get through the whole mock booking process with no problems for several Ruby Galveston itineraries.
  19. Same here! Long time road warrior for work and I don't let anyone book my travel plans. That's a great idea about OBC. We have a cruised booked on POA in January and already have our own independently booked airfare. I also have backup hotels booked in Hawaii just in case our cruise doesn't happen for whatever reason.
  20. That doesn't sound like much fun to me! Just thinking of how little seating there is around certain venues and that sounds like a gigantic hassle. Thanks for reporting about your current on-board experience!
  21. I cancelled a cruise booking recently and the money was back on my credit card within a week. I also got right through to a Princess rep on the phone and didn't have to wait hours on hold like some others have reported. I do have a PVP but just called the general number and spoke to a customer service rep immediately who was very helpful. The whole process was easy and efficient.
  22. Thanks for your report! We are sailing on POA in January (and our first time on NCL) so I've been anxiously awaiting some trip reports. Hopefully staffing will ramp up as the year goes on. I understand new staff and training, but maybe NCL shouldn't be promoting the drink package and specialty dining if they can't deliver.
