  1. That brings back memories. About 20 years ago, on our first trip to Seattle for an Alaskan cruise, I won the new Grand Hyatt for $45 my first time using Priceline. Lovely hotel.
  2. I have a Chase Sapphire Preferred card. https://account.chase.com/sapphire/preferred/benefits Scroll down to “Protection” on the left screen menu, then “expand for more.” It does not include a pre-existing condition waiver. I had a claim several years ago, and they did pay.
  3. Try “adding” some offers to your Am Ex blue card. They only show 100 “available” at a time in addition to the ones you have added, so you will make room for other offers.
  4. The one snag I hit, no fault of TAP, was at the gate in Lisbon. I went through regular security, but I was pulled aside at the gate for special security screening. They went through my carry-on piece by piece at a table set up nearby and did the security wand thing again. I boarded the flight on time, but it was a little unnerving. Just a heads-up. If you have “SSSS” on your boarding pass, you will be pulled aside.
  5. I think that if you have multiple non-stop options from your (hopefully major) airport, you should be fine. I only run into problems when the airlines reschedule my flights with 30 and 40 minute connections in Chicago, Charlotte, or Atlanta.
  6. I flew TAP business class from Barcelona to US with Celebrity Air. Nice trip. No problems.
  7. I flew business class TAP from Barcelona to Baltimore thru Lisbon with flights by Celebrity and had no problems at all.
  8. Just FYI. Skagway dock schedule https://secureservercdn.net/198.71.233.189/2xl.54d.myftpupload.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/SKG-Skagway-2022.pdf RRF: Railroad Dock Forward RRA: Railroad Dock Aft BRD: Broadway Dock ORE: Ore Terminal Dock AMH: Alaska Marine Highway Dock
  9. Your tour will begin as a group for their demonstration inside the building, ending at the small gift shop. After that, you are free to wander the grounds. There are some benches outside the building. You can walk as slowly as you like on the path to see the exhibits and take pictures. I’ve seen lots of canes and walking sticks. No need to hurry.
  10. We’re also doing a back to back. Did you have Covid testing on board between cruises? Did you have to get off the ship in Seward and check in again? Thanks.
  11. We’re you able to find the lower price on line? I was on hold for over an hour with Celebrity, and then the rep could not find any additional savings for me on two solo cruises I have booked that are listed on the spreadsheet. Is there a special promotion code needed?
  12. I was in an OV on deck 3 right next to the elevators mid ship on the Summit two weeks ago and passed the “quarantine” sign on Deck 2 every time we went ashore. I don’t know if other decks were used, but deck 2 was.
  13. I was just at Newark last weekend. Three hours is plenty. Yes, you will take their bus between terminals.
  14. I’ve done the one in Skagway five times. Loved it. https://www.oceanraftalaska.com
  15. When my daughter last took the early tour pre-Covid, Kenai Fjords had a kiosk set up in the terminal when you left the cruise. They had her wait with them and shuttled her to the tour. You might enquire if that’s the same set-up this year.
  16. From Celebrity re: pre and post stays in Quito “Should you find your flight times have changed prior to departure, please notify us with the updated information. Please note, the package ends with hotel check out time at the JW Hotel, which is 12 PM on 16-Jan-23. Should you prefer to stay in your room longer on the 16th, you will need a late check out booked with the hotel. Late check out through 7 pm is $45 + tax and beyond 7 PM will be a full nights rate.”
  17. I was on the Summit last week using an iPhone and an iPad. It’s good that you are getting the upgrade because the basic free WiFi was horrible. In fact, worst reception I have had on any cruise, ever. Anyway, if you have WiFi enabled on one device and try to log on to another, you will get a message telling you that your original device will be logged off and the new one logged on. You have to agree.
  18. Any recent stays at the Doubletree Galleria? TripAdvisor reviews are either five star or one star. Would like to see reviews I could trust from Cruise Critics.
  19. Lots of information about other Galapagos options on TripAdvisor https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g294310-i6637-Galapagos_Islands.html
  20. We are flying in on Thursday, a day early, for the 10 day trip on the Flora, using Marriott points for the extra night. Celebrity told me that they would have someone at the airport to greet me and get me to the Marriott if I would tell them in advance my flight numbers. The actual cruise begins and ends on Sundays, and Celebrity pays for the hotel that last night. You fly out the next day, Monday (unfortunately for me, 11:55 PM). I read somewhere that the Marriott will hold your luggage that last day if you want to tour.
  21. On 12/28/21 I canceled a Mediterranean cruise that was to depart on June 1st of this year. Yesterday I received my $900 FCC.

  23. I’m on the Summit now and did not order a package, but we ate at the Tuscan Grill four nights. I am Elite, and the charge was $45 pp, and 18% gratuity was added to the bill to total $106.20. (the 18% was stated plainly on the menus for dinner and dessert.) I was given a bill to sign that also stated 18% gratuity added along with a line for “ additional tip.” I added $20. ( Totally worth it.) The $106.20 and $20 are listed separately on my account.
