  1. The short cruises, 3&4 nights over a weekend tend to attract large extended family groups that can be oblivious to their surroundings. Shorter cruises attract the younger demographic who don’t earn much vacation time. Other parts of the world get much more vacation time than in the US so go 7 days or less. The same demographic might prevail on some European lines, but I suspect not on P&O and Cunard short cruises. We were on a 4 day cruise on Cunard QE and found very few non-Brits aboard, and not only did they not party, the liked to dress up every night, not just the formal night. EM
  2. Our last cruises before Covid were a 2 night on Equinox followed by 8 nights on Carnival Magic. We just took a cab from where Equinox docked to pier 4. Both in FLL, of course. EM
  3. They are looking at Carnival Pride, as this thread was moved from the Carnival board. EM
  4. We docked in Kotor on Nieuw Amsterdam in 2012, only large ship there. In 2013 on Silhouette we tendered. EM
  5. Totally agree about the Iceland itinerary. Totally different geography from Norway. You will still go into fjords, if not high walls with waterfalls. But you will still visit at least two waterfalls. EM
  6. I believe you can book them on the TV, in the app, or on the screens around the ship. my experience on three of four MSC sailings is that the non-US passengers, especially the women, will dress up more for every dinner, not just formal nights. EM
  7. I have always thought one reason CC does not allow PMs is bullying/harassment. EM
  8. I suspect careful reading of the guidelines would give some ideas
  9. You’re in luck, because Cunard isn’t doing one at that time. QM2 is still on world cruise. But no one else is, either. Pick another time. But you have misread the thread title, or totally missed the point of the thread. EM
  10. I just renewed my GE in Feb., online. But I will need to renew passport next year. I was just assuming I could do the update online. Guess I’ll find out. EM
  11. She’s coming from Seven Seas Splendor. EM
  12. I am going to post some pics i took on Divina. The first is 12173, at the time I took them it was a standard balcony. The next cabin was also a standard bella balcony, but it is one of a number of cabins on Divina that had a tub/shower rather than just a shower, so does not have a full couch, just a soft chair: Cabin 8114 The next is 9201, now classed as a junior balcony: EM
  13. The OP said she has done everything she wanted to do in Ketchikan, which means she has already been to Alaska at least once. EM
  14. There is no way to turn them off. There is another very recent thread here about fooling them on the Ruby. Look for it for multiple suggestions. EM
  15. To find out where the smoking areas are, you ask/ read on the boards here for that cruise line. How much shade depends on ship design, cabin location, latitude, longitude, direction of travel…. EM
  16. The lines I have sailed, the menus and quality are equal across the fleet. Just that the newer ships tend to be larger and therefore have more options. EM
  17. It’s in a sealed envelope. If the envelope has been tampered with, you go to guest services to get a new one. If someone steals it, they can’t use it because when it is scanned your picture will come up, and if they don’t match…EM
  18. Cruise lines used to book gty shares. My niece had one in 1999 when we went to South America on Princess. EM
  19. Your junior balcony is a smaller cabin with no interior seating, (no couch or chair) and a more shallow balcony. Fine if you are cruising solo. And for only 4 days. If the premium balcony is pp total, not per day, I would take it. EM
  20. Equinox is just off Port Everglades. Caribbean Princess is already in port. EM
  21. Port Everglades webcam shows you already in the turning basin. Equinox will follow you shortly. EM
  22. Many ships have a promenade deck with smoking allowed on one side of it. Usually there are decks of balconies above it. If you are a non-smoker and smoke bothers you, you need to find out which side the smoking area is, and book the opposite side. EM
