Neptune Suite Lounge - Nieuw Amsterdam
LouChamp replied to packedandready's topic in Holland America Line
Aloha. Have been blessed to sail HAL since the 1970s and Neptune Suites. Since the early 1990s. Generally I have been booking suites across the major lines primarily for space and comfort but also for the Suite Lounge or equivalent amenities. HAL Neptune Lounges provides me a place to get coffee and read the papers at an early hour since I have been getting up early for decades. This way I do not disturb the family although now we are empty nesters lol. I recommend them highly. We have several long cruises reserved next year and 2025 and they are Neptune Suites also. Please keep us posted and most all be safe, healthy and enjoy! -

Aloha. Enjoying your posts and I thank you. We have been blessed to sail Celebrity since its inception and also the Pacific. Have a wonderful voyage! -

Aloha. Someone posted on another board the entire B L T menus for the Royal Caribbean Coastal Kitchen week. Very impressive. Yes I know it is not the MDR menus but nonetheless is mouth watering. It contains dishes which even if Celebrity picked and chose just a few dishes would substantially bring Celebrity up to the level it should be.

Blessings and prayers for you and your family and Israel.

Aloha. Have been blessed to visit the region on land tours and sea tours. Also Africa and other regions which have political and safety issues. Given that since the 1970s I do feel somewhat safer by sea. If there is a safety concern the ship can change itineraries and/or leave early. If one is on land, options are more limited. Praying or everyone’s safety.

150 Central Park or Chops on Wonder for special dinner?
LouChamp replied to 2jeffs2's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Aloha. First of all blessings and congratulations! Dividing our time between NY and Honolulu, steakhouses are plentiful. I would go with 150 because it is a step above in my opinion for a more unique experience. Perhaps another night at Chops. Please keep us posted! -
Aloha. Perhaps. Roasted quail would be nice. More shellfish. Lobster Thermidor, Scallops, More frequent Prime Rib. One can dine with basic chicken dishes and pork dishes at home. Salmon Wellington, Shrimp Fra Diavolo, Spanakopita, Doner, Roasted Duck more frequently, Deviled Eggs, Bangers and Mash, Veal Saltimbocca, Veal Osso Buco, Shrimp Parmagiana…

Reason to travel 1-2 days prior to cruise
LouChamp replied to DaveOKC's topic in Holland America Line
Aloha. Having been blessed to cruise since 1971, we travel 2 to 3 days in advance and generally stay 2 to 3 days after to accommodate any weather, airline, airport, etc. etc issues. Anything can happen. That said, all the best to everyone! -
Aloha. Thank you for sharing. How time flies as my first with Cunard was in 1976. Great memories!

Aloha. Thank you for posting these menus. Have been blessed to sail Celebrity since its first ship and many many ships and cruises with them thereafter. These menus are sad. Very repetitive and nothing in general I cannot make at home. I know they want you to pay for specialty dining but unfortunately the menus are shameful.

Aloha. Having been blessed to travel the region, it has always been said there is never a good time to travel there. As we are witnessing now the situation can change at a moments notice. I know one ship from another line has already wisely cancelled its visit. We would be there now but changed our plans for unrelated reasons. Let us pray for everyone to be safe

Aloha. Have been blessed to sail Royal since the late 1970s and also recently on your ship. As an Italian I personally rarely have steak in an Italian Restaurant preferring Pasta, Veal, Seafood specialties. That said, the Italian preparation may include Olive oil and other seasonings and cheese. Certain cheeses are salty and I tend to go with and cook with Grana Padano. As for the Carbonara it is made with the pancetta included in the sauce not simply placed on top as in your picture. It similar to asking for a cheese danish and being served a danish with a slice of cheese on top lol. Seems they got a little lazy and used the basic italian alfredo sauce and plopped the bacon which in the picture does not look like pancetta. Nevertheless love your reports and pictures. Enjoy!

Aloha. Loving your reports and pictures as you know. Curious as to your thoughts and opinions on the islands and also the ship by way of food, service, etc. Are you flying home immediately after your vacation or are you staying a while? All the best!

Live-Carnival Luminosa 9/14/23 30 Day TP Seattle to Brisbane
LouChamp replied to kwokpot's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Aloha. The happiest of birthdays! -
Aloha. They are all fine in their own way. I am Italian but understanding that shipboard italian restaurants cannot generally compare to land based restaurants especially in NYC although there is a very good italian in Hawaii. HAL, Princess also have very good italian shipboard cuisine. As for Chops, similar across various lines and the same comparisons land based. That said I do not believe you will be disappointed. We generally dine in both. Good luck, enjoy and please keep us posted!

Aloha. I could tell you why it is spelled that way but I can’t lol!

Exactly!

Aloha. So happy you are enjoying Hawaii. We love shave ice and a funny story. In NY a shave ice store opened and the sign outside said shaved ice. After frequenting countless times I became friends with the owner and then nicely told him its shave ice so he changed the sign lol! Still it is so much better in Hawaii. Oh…have you had a chance to have a loco moco? It is a hamburger over rice, a fired egg and brown gravy. I know lol but if you have the chance try it. I make it at home. Some restaurants are more creative but the original is the best. It has various origins but is really delicious. All the best!!!

Aloha. I have been blessed to cruise since the 1970s with inside, outside, balconies, verandas, suites and have read cruise critic since 2002 in think. Sometimes the information posted is accurate and at other times I wonder if it is the same ship lol. Have traveled around the world and have never truly been disappointed. It is like a restaurant and hotel review. I cull the information and am always learning and totally enjoy the food pictures!
