  1. Mine is actually worse than yours😂. I would have preferred saving a couple on dollars on an interior room than this GTY room
  2. That's the beauty of cruising - you can spend as little or as much as you like. Nobody is "steering" us anywhere. I'm good with the ship's water. You can bring water onboard with you if you're set on bottled water, but I prefer my "one" bottle of wine (my husband will be carrying the other, ha!)
  3. I was pleased with the Indian options that were available in the MDR and Windjammer on our recent Oydssey cruise - I don't think an Indian specialty restaurant would be necessary. I am, however, concerned if I omit an odor after eating - we actually have had many complaints about the odor at my boot camp from those who routinely include curry in their cooking 😕
  4. We've been on more than 10 cruises and have always tipped the room steward on top of the auto gratuities. We bring our two bottles of wine and request a bottle opener and two glasses and offer a $20 bill for that service. On the Odyssey last month the steward told us they were not allowed to bring glasses to the room. Okay, that's a first. He did end up bringing us two plastic wine glasses (LOL) but did not refresh them on a daily basis. I'll usually fill my glass before dinner and leave it at the dining room. We did leave him another $20 at the end of the 7 days just because. . .I'm assuming he was relatively new.
  5. I'll have to hit Costco up for their Kirkland Sea Salt Kettle Chips before our next cruise in May. . .I may inidvidually package and sell them. . .but I sure do like Jays!
  6. On Odyssey we played Bingo in the theater so there was lots of seating. I would go there close to the actual start time of the game because yes, a line is forming even before the sales begin!
  7. We had no trouble getting chips at Odyssey's Two70 Cafe (Park Cafe equivalent). They were kept behind the counter. I confess I did ask for two bags because they do tend to go quickly and I'm a plain chip girl - seems they definitely always had the salt and vinegar chips.
  8. We did a GTY on the Odyssey and I knew the risks. It was the worst possible balcony room you could get but we didn't let it ruin our time. But that will be the last time I'll do a GTY room. . .
  9. You'll have to let us know how this turns out.
  10. If you specifically asked if the deposit was refundable and they said yes, then that would be a lie. Is that what happened? Or did you fail to do your due diligence when reviewing the terms of your reservation and neglected to read the part about the non-refundable deposit? I am sure that was in there somewhere.
  11. The rules are pretty clear - with 90 cruises under your belt, this should have come to no surprise. Just like non-refundable fares found with airfare, rental cars, and hotels, these rates come at a reduced rate as an incentive to lock in plans. In short, guests get a lower price and the cruise line gets more protection against a last-minute cancellation. Refundable cruise fares cost more, but allow more flexibility when cancelling a cruise For sailings booked after March 31, 2022: Outside of final payment, when a non-refundable deposit cancellation occurs, the full deposit amount will be held in penalty. Any additional payments made will be refunded. You booked two separate cruises - unfortunately, because the cruiseline cancelled one, that has no affect on the second cruise you booked. I don't think you have much of a case in small claims court.
  12. I could have sworn the cookies in our room on embarkation day were left over from the last people who had our stateroom. They were hard as rocks! They were left there for the next passengers 😁
  13. I wish Cruisecritic would give you the option of deleting your own post - this was posted in error twice
  14. What are the layout changes on Wonder? We've been on Allure, Oasis and Harmony and have loved that class of ship and are scheduled for Wonder in May. Just got off of Odyssey. Loved Two70 area - great place to get away during the day - floor to ceiling windows, lots of seating areas and tables. Unless you were chair hog in the solarium, all the lounges were taken, either by people or towels, by 8 a.m. - ha! and it was lacking outdoor tables. Didn't care for the separate dining room areas. Contrary to what I keep hearing, we loved The Book. No, it really didn't have a "story" that I understood, but there was so much talent there. We actually enjoyed the Windjammer - it was never so crowded you couldn't find a seat.
  15. It looks like the new menu goes across the fleet. My favorite was the apple blossom. Just got off the Odyssey and the only time I could find it was on one main dining room brunch menu so I had it for breakfast - LOL. There wasn't a separate breakfast/lunch time in the main dining room - it was just "brunch" and was over by 12:30. I'm looking at my menus for Wonder in May and all it is showing now is main dining room dinner menus - not sure if it will be breakfast then lunch or "brunch".
  16. Boarding tomorrow. If you haven't received a repsonse before then, I'll let you know.
  17. I did a Royal Up bid prior to my GTY room being assigned. When it was assigned, I received an email that my Royal Up bid was cancelled due to a "reservation modification." I can only assume that was because of my room assignment? It took another two submissions before my bid was accepted and not "cancelled." (Just my bid, I haven't heard whether I got it or not. . .). Each time I resubmitted my bid, the minimum price went up. . .
  18. I had spent the money for fresh squeezed orange juice last month on HOTS - I won't make that mistake again. The orange juice from concentrate had a better flavor than their fresh squeezed.
  19. We were on HOTS the week before you and I have to agree on the Flow Rider staff, especially Dennis - I'm a 64 year old woman and he had me kneeling on the board on my second try with no wipeouts! I attribute that to his instruction and patience! It was great fun and if you can get out there on a port day, the line was almost non-existent!
  20. LOL did a bootcamp class on Harmony last month. Cost $20. He was sooo bad - had to keep referring to his iphone to see what was next - LOL. I definitely work out harder myself than in that class. Grab a tabata format - you'll get so much more of a workout:
  21. Based on reports, the option is available on the Oasis Class cruise ships beginning for sailings in December, 2022. A notice in the cruise planner indicates the option is available for: Allure of the Seas Anthem of the Seas Harmony of the Seas Navigator of the Seas Oasis of the Seas Odyssey of the Seas Ovation of the Seas Symphony of the Seas I don't see that option yet for our Odyssey cruise in January. . .
