luckyinpa Posted December 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 7, 2017 i have some great deals and was thinking about doing a solo maybe. the casino pricing is only for double occupancy, i emailed the TA from princess to confirm I know for the regular rates for a no show you get port taxes and fees back i believe? would the same happen for the special rate , i assume so. thing is, some of these rates includes taxes and fees, hard to believe but they do. for example one rate is 429 and the total bill i 858 and it says taxes, Fees & Port Expenses§ included 260 so if i book with 858 and show up solo at the pier do i get 130 back? or basically making my solo trip 858 regardless since i didnt really pay the teaxes. or would they deny me boarding possibly? just curious how it all works. ------------- also what if i book a drink package, or best to wait to do that on board. id only do the soda pack. also if i dont prepay grats would i only be charged for 1 person. the killer would be air. princess air is cheaper than what i can get for the most part and i cannot very well book for 2 then show up with one i guess? neverbeenhere Posted December 7, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 7, 2017 I will start with the first question. Is two passengers actually traveling on the cruise a condition of the casino rate?
easyboy Posted December 7, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Each passenger has a folio account where gratuities are charged daily. I guess there won’t be 2 charges in a folio. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Belle Posted December 7, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 7, 2017 You can book but you just have to pay double when solo.. Still get the discount for both fares. Pay only one cruise tax. You only pay tips for one.
Steelers36 Posted December 7, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 7, 2017 If OP was really doing this, then IDK why book Princess air. Why not just make own flight arrangements? Unless heading overseas, it doesn't seem like prices are that much different.
Pam in CA Posted December 7, 2017 #6 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Each passenger has to fill out their Personal Information Form with their passport # and credit card. Solos pay double. You won’t get the difference between a solo and double occupancy back because there isn’t an actual passenger with their passport # booked. The OP intends to sail solo, but was musing about booking as two, but with the companion having no intention to show up and sail. So, he ends up solo with a casino rate booking that was intended for two in a cabin originally.
Elitein85days Posted December 7, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Are you sure you can’t book as a solo and still get the same casino rate (paying both passengers fares and one set of taxes)? I do it that way frequently and get the casino discount.
luckyinpa Posted December 7, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted December 7, 2017 i actually emailed the princess TA about 3 people and she said The offer is only available for double occupancy. i ASSUMED that meant you need 2 people. however with the comments made above i went into the website and clicked on one person and indeed it shows the same cheap rate. never thought of checking that ! thanks. re princess air, there are 100 and 200 bucks off this time of year thru princess. i can fly dec 17 for about 40 bucks! thats crazy cheap

Each person has their own on board account. Whatever you purchase on board goes on that account. Same with gratuities. They are charged per person on each person's account/ the killer would be air. princess air is cheaper than what i can get for the most part and i cannot very well book for 2 then show up with one i guess? With EZ Air each person can book their own. Makes sense since passengers cruising together may not be flying from the same cities. You can also book directly with the airline, you don't have to use EZ Air. TIA Don't understand exactly what you are trying to do, but above are a few comments. I got $128 RT from Baltimore to FLL on their air sale. yes , without listing all the dates, here are the PHL to FLL amounts for the cruises i'm looking at over the next few weeks 233 200 262 33 330 220 204 that dec 17 for 33 bucks is one that no one must want (then again its 200 off :)
Steelers36 Posted December 7, 2017 #13 Share Posted December 7, 2017 I always wish I didn't live in Canada when I see all the low US airfares. Never get it this good. Used to be major savings to head out of BUF for this reason, but I think airlines are wise to fact that "half" the customers come from Canada and have to pay more to depart domestic. Still worth the drive at times, but depends where going.
luckyinpa Posted December 7, 2017 Author #14 Share Posted December 7, 2017 ok now this stinks. they must change this everyday. now most of the rates are not solo. this changed from last night. for example for 2 people the balcony was 509 PP on the 14 day trip... now for the 1 person its over 800. however compared to the 5558 price that listed today for a balcony, i guess 800 isnt too bad
Rare dickinson Posted December 7, 2017 #15 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Prices change as they get more sales. If you see something great you have to jump on it. I just checked for Dec 17 and from Baltimore it is more expensive to fly than from PHL. My least expensive rate was $78 whereas yours is $33. Soooo, are you going? emmak8 Posted December 7, 2017 #17 Share Posted December 7, 2017 You can definitely get casino rate when sailing solo. HOWEVER, It appears you cannot get it on THIS sailing!
Rare dickinson Posted December 7, 2017 #18 Share Posted December 7, 2017 If you want to go put a hold on it. I did that for my sailing on Monday. It gave me til the end of the day to decide.
luckyinpa Posted December 7, 2017 Author #19 Share Posted December 7, 2017 well i've updated my spreadsheet and its pretty universal that there is no universal rhyme or reason for things. jan 7 is 199 PP inside solo but the 199 double balc are gone jan 21 199 for balc PP. or 398 for solo balc or 199 for inside solo dec 9 for 2 is 229pp balc, solo its 258 inside and 458 balcony. the 14 niter dec 20 is still 509 PP balc. but solo is 658 inside and 858 balc. jan 20 sold out of offers

Daddysbaby Posted December 8, 2017 #21 Share Posted December 8, 2017 Wowzer!! I book as a solo and get the Casino rate (typically 25% off of a balcony and 35% off an Inside) and am very Happy to get that - believe you me! If I were you, I would JUMP on the Dec 20th, 14 night balcony - OMG that is an excellent price!! Not to mention your airfare. Go for it! Please let us know what you decide to do - ENJOY!! Oh, and Merry Christmas!!:)

Rare azbirdmom Posted December 8, 2017 #23 Share Posted December 8, 2017 Keep checking! We got an amazing casino offer in October and had been eyeing a cruise on the Regal that leaves this Sunday. While we were mulling it over the low rate disappeared. I kept checking though and over the next couple of days it popped up again so I grabbed it. luckyinpa Posted December 8, 2017 Author #24 Share Posted December 8, 2017 didnt book yet 14 day balcony disappeared and listed at 1549 now. at 509 people couldnt resist. and ive seen some mid ship balconies up to 7k on the selection list. i realize some of these can be 24 hour holds. i'm also still fighting with the idea of christmas and if its right to be away then. 493 for gty obst balc is nothing to sneeze at for 11 days though. is cheaper than the inside. weird. but pricing changes as ive seen
