Suite question.

Hey all, We leave a week from today on Freedom! I am so excited!

I thought that I had researched everything since it has been a few years since we have been on a RCI ship, but I keep reading things that differ so I thought that I would reach out to all of you for your expert knowledge.

What are all the perks that we get being a Grand Suite? RCI’s website is not that east to navigate and some of the info is just flat wrong!

Does anyone have a list of the current suite perks?

Thanks for the quick reply! Someone posted that they got Free Voom being in a Grand Suite. Does anyone know if this is correct? Also is there a fee for the private seating in the specialty dining restaurants for breakfast or lunch?

Voom is only included on ships which feature Royal Suite Class, unfortunately this does not include Freedom.

Agreed, and I think that the perks should be uniform fleet wide!!

Especially perks like internet, which could be enabled fleet wide with little effort. That being said, we have a GS on the Anthem coming up and it was considerably more expensive than our GS on the Freedom, which was for a longer cruise.

The email we received from the Suite Concierge on Explorer about two weeks before we boarded in Oct is attached below. In advance, we asked to have the mini fridge emptied, requested two additional firm pillows and two sets of extra towels, and asked him to make specialty reservations for us on formal nights (I prepurchesed two 3 dinner packages for each of us.) Eventhing was taken care of.

Not mentioned in the email was an embarkation day suite lunch in the Viking Crown Lounge. It wasn’t an amazing lunch, but the lounge was closed to non suite/nonpinnacle quests so it was a fantastic place to wait for cabins to open up. The was also a suite/pinnacle dinner one night that was done wonderfully well. Ours was a 22 day cruise so YMMV.

We love GS suites , you may not get suite lunch, but did not care for last one we had, had a suite dinner once with officers which was great it not always the same. Breakfast on most ships seems to have moved from chops to Giovanni’s , love the pool seating and also reserved seats for shows, one show that can be crowded is the ice show which gets repeated and should not be missed. We also like the DVD player and we bring our favorite dvds with us. Also like getting escorted off ship at disembarkation.

You also get room service with no charge. And an expanded breakfast menu for room service. We also got a suite breakfast service in Giovani's. Same menu, but just suite guests and a lot of servers.

We were in a GS on Grandeur in August. For tenders and port arrivals, we met outside the concierge lounge, and the concierge took us down on an elevator he had locked out for his use, right down, then head of the line to get off the ship.

For disembarkation, same deal, but we went down to deck 1 (others were using deck 4), and out to a special line to immigration. So 9 minutes from Deck 11 to luggage in the car.

I am on your sailing. I emailed the concierge to ask about suite benefits. The letter you will get in your room showing the benefits is here (ignore the Ben & Jerry’s one)

Thank you so much!!! I don’t know why RCI makes it so hard to get this information prior to sailing!

But this does raise another question. One of the perks listed says “Reservations in specialty restaurants.” Does this mean they are included (meaning price included) for those in a GS?

No they are not included, but the Concierge will help you make reservations at the specialty restaurants instead of calling or going to the restaurants to book.

One thing of note for the OP: above there is a post above with a list of suite amenities for Explorer and it mentions the CL is on deck 9 - on Freedom, it's on deck 10 mid-ship. Also, unless it's been moved and transformed to a Suite Lounge (ala Liberty), the CL on Freedom is rather small and almost cave-like (IMO).
