Dinner/Show Scheduling Conflict on the Grandeur

A few years ago we sailed on the Grandeur and had a major problem with early dining. Because the early show was scheduled too close to the dinner hour, no one could make it to early show unless they skipped desert. As a result the second show did not have enough seats. The only way to have early dinner and get a seat at the show was to be at the theater door when the early show let out and sit in the theater seat for nearly an hour before the second show. Is this still a problem or have they fixed the show times?

Still a problem . On some RCI ships they do not let people sit and wait the hour.

Isn’t the early show meant for those with late dining and the second show meant for the early diners? That’s what we used to do when we went to the MDR.

Why not simply "order desert FIRST"?

That's right...on smaller ships, early dining goes to the 2nd show...and late seating goes to the 1st show...they are both the same. There really isn't a scheduling issue with shows if you have traditional seating, either main/early or late. If you choose MTD, then it's up to YOU to eat at a time that will allow you to see the show of your choice.

It's really not an issue unless you must be in the 1st row!

As others said on Smaller Class ships the First Main Dining is usually scheduled go to Second/Late Show, Second Main Dining goes to show before dinner. But with more doing MyTime and WindJammer hard to tell which show is more crowded. Also as said some show's they don't open doors to theater early...

Main seating: 5:30

Second seating: 8:00

Shows (almost every night) - 7 & 9.

No problem.

I may have worded the original question wrong. I just wanted to know if the second show was still so crowded that there were not enough theater seats because it seemed like too many the passengers tried to go to the second show. How early does My Time Dining start?

Thats what I was going to say too. We were on Grandeur 2 years ago and had early seating for dinner. We never, never had an issue finding seats for the late show. Sometimes we got there 30 min before but usually it was around 20 min before and we even found seating fairly close for group of 8-13 people!

The theater will not hold all the passengers at one time, hence 2 shows which are the same. Can't predict if there will be vacant seats for a cruise that has not happened, you will have to take the cruise to find out. We have never had a problem getting a seat on all our vision class sailings

We were on the Granduer last summer and had no problem eating the early dinner and still making it to the Early Show

We were on Grandeur in Feb. Had 2nd seating dinner, hence early show. Theater was rarely crowded.

Believe early/late show attendance mix is heavily influenced by My Time Dining reservation times and speed at which kitchen delivers meals.

How early does My Time Dining start?

Usually the same as early traditional - 5:30 most of the time.
