Think about this. Cruising has come a looong way since that first historical cruise on the "Mayflower". The things that many people whine about on here are nothing compared to what the Pilgrims had to put up with in order to get from England to the New World. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Go Lions! Beat the Packers! :)

Shame on you! You got it all wrong! Packers all the way. Need I remind everyone that we (the cheese heads) are UNDEFEATED and are #1 in the NFL. I would say Super Bowl bound! Hee.Hee.

Seriously, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and remember how blessed you are after being on a cruise ship. Not everyone is lucky enough to have that experience!

a replica of the Pina sailed in to Morehead City, NC. The 'captains cabin '(?) was about 4x4x6. You pulled up the door to his 'cabin' on the deck. The anilmals were below and all the crew slept on the open deck. Can you image what it must have smelled like with all the animals below deck all the way across the ocean?

The Mayflower also had animals on board. We've come a LONG way since the Pina & Mayflower!!!

We're planning on touring them this weekend when the family is here in Tulsa for the holiday.......

Hmm, if the Mayflower voyage is considered a "cruise" it is hardly the first (or the 300th). Besides, when you want to impose your own theocracy, you deserve discomfort.

Once the Pilgrims arrived and brought new diseases, etc.

Referring to the Mayflower voyage as a cruise was a bit tongue in cheek. Geez people! Lighten up!

I know I have a better chance of hitting a big jackpot in the casino on my next cruise than the Lions have against the Packers, but I just can't help rooting for the underdogs:).

Well said! We ALL have a tremendous amount to be thankful for!

And I am rooting for the Lions to beat the Packers as well since I am a Texas girl who happens to be a HUGE Pittsburgh Steelers fan!!!! ( I also have a deceased uncle who absolutely loved the Detroit Lions! He would be loving their season this year!)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Yes, cruising has come a long way since the Mayflower. But, there are many long term cruisers that would also say that cruising has taken several steps backwards in the last twenty years as quality and service has too often been replaced by Mega-ships that are more like shore-based resorts then ships.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. May we all be grateful that we have cruised previously and have those experiences to post about on these boards.

How lucky are we - no matter what cruise line we've cruised, no matter how we liked/disliked the food, entertainment, service. We have had the pleasure of hearing that beautiful sound of a ship's horn as she sounds while we are leaving our embarkation port!

Here's to many more fabuluos cruise experiences for all of us!:):):):):)

"First historical cruise"? I believe that title goes to a certain gentleman named Noah, and a certain vessel called the Ark. Imagine the fun HE could have had reviewing his cruise here on Cruise Critic, what with the incessant rain and the unholy animal stench. Compared to that, wearing jeans in the MDR doesn't seem too bad.

Happy Thanksgiving, one and all!

The Mayflower was an actual ship with people. The Ark was basically a floating zoo. Big difference. Kind of like the difference between Celebrity and Disney (oh,you figure it out).:D
