J...you have done very well with your flights! We were able to use our points for short flights to Windsor Ontario many moons ago but nothing very recently.

Sadly the days of both earning and spending miles easily has passed ... although there are stil opportunities. The early days looking back were like the wild west when airlines often seemed one step behind their passengers.

In the UK we had the launch of the BMI credit card when they made a hash of the terms and conditions and a few of us were able to spend a few months doing cash balance transfers backwards and forwards. Then they use to auction seats on an auction site that earned miles/points. Then there was Tesco and BA miles with rediculous miles for buying bananas, meat in gravy, HP printer inks ... there was a time when miles was quite easy ....

Hi Spins...….LONG day traveling yesterday...….it feels like 2 days instead of 1:eek:…..so not really relaxed at the moment.....got home very late last night...…..

Yes that travel back is awful and saps you of strength.

That's why I like TAs that come back to the states, especially lauderdale.

Appreciate this fascinating sharing by Jeff. But to fill up 8,100 passenger spaces by 2022 on these three new ships could be an interesting challenge. And to staff and operate will also require some serious management disciple. Is that Branson's style and expertise? No kids might appeal to some, but will the liquor and beer be free-flowing? And, will Sir Richard allow the booking of large sales groups on these ships?

Watching the highly-competitive "British Open" golf championship right now. Tiger is trying for a come-back, but some well-scoring, big names are ahead of him. High winds predicted for Sunday's final 18-holes.

I didn't have to read the Condé Nast Traveler article on Virgin's ships & designers to realize Richard has chosen designers who have never been to sea.

Hanging/suspended wicker chairs at bar tables???... swinging around 'wiping out' the table, drinks...and other passengers walking by. :rolleyes: They'd have to be chained to the floor at at least two points (which defeats the whole purpose of having a hanging/suspended chair).

I just looked at the pics again and realized the chairs are chained to the floor at a center 'anchor point'... so they'll spin, but not swing. I guess they'll work.

Good Morning Coolers from The Balcony! Excellent funny M! [emoji4]

Last night was a lovely gorgeous evening outside (piccy below) and we had most of the day on the balcony followed by the fireworks. The firewoks had a longer display than last year. Not because more cash was spent, but simply through the expedience of putting less fireworks into the sky at the same time and by longer gaps,in between them. But we found our secret spot and it was lovely to have the fireworks and it was free, so you can’t get better value than that.

Anyway, the schools are now on holiday and so the sound of children and the sound of yapping dogs has made us decide to head back to Hampshire - Helga willing - tomorrow night. At least, unlike Whisper, we can go home and come back another day when it is nicer, rather than have to lock ourselves into a “safe room (suite)” to avoid the noisy hordes. ;)

Sunday greetings from quite a dull day in Wales....respite from the heat is most welcome!

Enjoyed lunch out yesterday with an old friend...waded our way through a bottle of bubbles in my garden followed by a very good Alsace with our meal...and had a great time planning our weekend in London in September.....hotel, shows and restaurants booked so it will be fun.

The offspring are currently in the air heading for Cape Verde...and I’ve made a chilli for luncheon whilst tracking their journey!

Great funnies M....also good to read Lois is back and has had a good trip....

Have been enjoying your fish offerings Jeffers....my favourite is plaice which doesn’t seem to be so popular these days but looking at the menu for ‘Rules’ restaurant I’ve booked in London l think l may be lucky...having said that they also offer such delicious savoury pies and puddings so we shall see!
