Question about Upgrades

For those luckily enough to have received an upgrade, is it normally just one level? In other words if you were in an E1 balcony and upgraded would it most likely be to a D category? Would you need to already be booked in a D1 to be upgraded to a JR. Suite?

Upgrades are rare today almost never happen anymore.

Got one last week JS to GS. Typically when and if they are given you will go from inside to OV, OV to balcony, balcony to JS and so on and so on but there is not hard fast rule.

We once were upgraded from a balcony to a JS, was sweet! :)

We've been upgraded from a JS to a GS twice, recently on Oasis. From past posts it appears that it is not unusual for upgrades on Oasis and Allure, particularly from GS or OS to Crown Loft Suites.

I went from a B2 to a GS on the Oasis. I'm not sure that there are any hard and fast rules and I'm not sure how I got selected for the upgrade. :confused:

Our few complimentary upgrades have been from one “superclass” to another - a Balcony ( different categories) to a JS. This has happed on the Freedom, Allure, Radiance and Jewel.

We’ve never been upgraded any higher than one “jump”. Naturally since we did not pay for the JS, we did not receive any additional points but certainly enjoyed the upgraded cabin.

Used to get the double points/credits. It was stopped a couple/few years back.

We've been upgraded 3 times, and none of those bookings were guarantee's.

1st timers we know were "bumped" from an inside to a D on deck 9....that's a GOOD upgrade!

How many cruises have you been on?

We were upgraded from E2 to D2 just last week. Price dropped and my TA called RCI and got it for us. This is a first for us.

We booked thru a travel agent and went to RCI site and were able to modify our preference and changed status to upgrade.

Never new to recently we could do this, and were glad we found out on CC.Who knows maybe this time.

Got upgraded from a D to a JS on the FR in Sept..

Will be going on our 28th cruise on Allure 12/2, Diamond+ and have never been upgraded. Those who have hit the jackpot.

Ditto! We are also D+ and never been upgraded... but get this

Even with lower status on Carnival, we have received free upgrades from insides to balconies on our last two cruises with them.

Go figure!
