Fascination for Honeymoon?

Hello All - Looking for some advice!

I currently have a cruise booked on another cruise line on one of their Megaships for our honeymoon and while I don’t love the ports nor the 3 days at sea, it’s a great ship with plenty to do the 3 days will be fine and the three Caribbean ports are still beautiful of course.

While shopping around I saw the fascination leaves the same day out of PR and has some amazing ports, only 1 sea day and is about half the cost. My only concern is that she is an old ship which we’ve done before for a long weekend cruise and didn’t love because even on the one sea day it just felt boring and not very “luxurious” if you will. Just curious if anyone has some input on the matter or advice on where to move.

Point of clarification, if we cancel the other cruise there will be no fees. Happy to reveal the other cruise ship but I don’t know how kosher that is on the different boards.

We had our honeymoon (6 years delayed) on the Facination in 2014. We loved it so much! We had pretty meh normal ports, loved the ship so much we only lefy at Half Moon Cay. Now with the current ports it's going to plus the 2.0 upgrade I may would still have to pull my husband off the ship.

Everything is personal preference. Since you didn't overly enjoy it before, there is a chance you might feel the same this time.

It seems like nowadays, this ship is used for port heavy itineraries, with much less sea days. Also, the ship has been renovated recently. While there are some new things to enjoy, if you are looking for the megaship experience, the Fascination might not be your go-to.

It sounds like you really enjoy lots of things to do on a large ship. Your decision should factor in what is important to you.

For us, we like to just lounge around and read when at sea. No need for lots of activities. At night we drink, dine, maybe hit the casino a bit, and crash. You can do that sort of thing on any ship - no need to pay a premium.

However, if you like to go bowling or ice skating on a ship, Fascination may not be the best choice.

We're booked on her in August and there are zero sea days. She is basically a hotel with full room and board that moves to a different island each day. Can't beat that in my book, but we won't be on her very long to enjoy any activities on the ship.

It's an old clunker so go bigger.

Love Fascination....just got off and am ready to book her again. We love the smaller fantasy class ships!! The ports on this cruise are amazing but........if your looking for Luxurious, I don't think any of the Carnival ships will do.

Since you say you are currently not overly happy with the ports or the 3 sea days on your current booking, but really like the ports offered and only 1 sea day on Carnival, I would go with Carnival. Especially at such great savings.

Use that extra money and do some really great and memorable experiences in those fabulous ports. Those are the bigger memories you are going to have. What you "did" while on your cruise/honeymoon, that is what will last a lifetime.

The ship itself is a place to eat and a place to sleep, and the IMHO I love the smaller ships, quieter and more personal, exceptional service. I would rather enjoy those great ports and beaches then be stuck on a ship for 3 days at sea... and not like the ports I went to.
