Dress Code on The Millenium

I think it's strange that people think it is too cold to wear shorts inside a ship when it is cold outside. Many women wear dresses year round inside, and nobody thinks that is strange and you have legs exposed in both cases.
Miniskirts are fine in the dining room in the evening. Shorts are not. So if you prefer to go bare-legged, just wear a miniskirt or kilt.

The dress code does not specify any need to shave your legs, or laser them.

Maybe they will add that as a requirement in the next dress code revision. Then they can offer a leg shaving service in a booth behind a screen near the dining room entrance, to be charged to your seapass card, as yet another revenue generating enhancement. :halo:

He sure was. So many things have changed here I think my time posting here is over. It's been real! Happy cruising.:)

There are so many great folks that have left. I always enjoy your enlightening posts. I hope you reconsider. :)

I could do the kilt...I actually have a white one. My wife and I got invited to participate in Dinner en Blanc ( https://www.dinerenblanc.com/# ) and had to wear all white. I despise white pants and it seemed a waste to buy some that I would never wear again....so I bought a kilt.

One of my legs is mostly shaved anyway for a tattoo sock (full knee to ankle), The hair growth can make the ink look dull so to help keep it looking fresh, I simply keep it shaved. :D

Is it really that hard to wear a pair of khaki type slacks & a decent collared shirt?

I found this question interesting. For me, yes, this would be difficult. I am allowed to wear shorts and a t-shirt at work..or jeans. So that is my everyday wear. Besides the fact that I only own 1-2 pairs of khakis, it feels like dressing up more than usual...and I don't want to dress up on vacation.

I do understand that X is not Carnival and one should try to dress the part. When I ask about shorts, I'm not referring to cut offs or gym shorts. I thought I had mentioned linen shorts earlier in the thread, if I hadn't, those are the shorts I am referring. If Tommy Bahama shirts have become the new 'Chic', according to some threads here, then I see no issue with linen shorts on board.JMO

There is no problem with shorts on board, you just can’t wear them to the dining rooms except for the buffet. You will respectfully be asked to change.

By definition, linen shorts are not pants. Pants are the required evening dining room dress. That's what Celebrity has established and what other guests follow.

If you do not find the fairly relaxed X dress code acceptable, then Celebrity is not a good fit for you.

Sorry, I's don't make tha rules I's jus follar them!(Spellcheck screaming here!) really, though, shorts aren't allowed in any rest.(buffet excepted)for dinner. You'll just have to wear slacks like the rest of civilized mankind. Personally, none of us cares what you can get away with at work, you're on a ship, not Clancy's pool room.(10 points to anyone who can make the Clancy's pool room connection) It doesn't matter what type of shorts, they're still shorts. So get another pair of khakis/Dockers/CLEAN jeans & call it a day.

What are you talking about? I said that some people think it is too cold to wear shorts inside in the winter but that they don’t think wearing skirts is too cold. Why are you talking about what legs look like?

The OP asked a specific question regarding a cold weather cruise that he will be going on and described coming back on board after being hot and uncomfortable on excursions and not wanting to put pants on for dinner.

We all understand that shorts are not allowed in any of the dining rooms. He asked if he could wear shorts to a bar or the casino if he ate in the buffet or had room service, Since it's a cold weather cruise it's not likely many folks would be choosing shorts to wear and they certainly wouldn't be on hot excursions. I made a one sentence comment that he could, but he "might" be the only one.

For some unknown reason someone found this comment objectionable and this discussion has gone off the rails.

For the record, the interior of the ship is about the same temperature all the time whether it's hot or cold outside. It's always on the cool side. I didn't say it was too cold to wear shorts inside, It's just that most people usually pack according to what they need to wear in the daytime so not likely too many people would be brining shorts on that particular itinerary. Especially all these folks who are always concerned about the weight of their luggage.

I hope this is sufficient explanation for what I said. I didn't think it was so controversial.

It's really pretty bizarre. You are either oblivious how rude you come off as, or you are aware and don't care. Either trait is not a good one to carry.

You're basically insinuating my jeans aren't clean, based on my lack of self respect for not wearing khakis as well as saying I should buy nicer clothes to make you more comfortable on your vacation.

You do realize I came her trying to find out the right thing to do and you chimed in saying that still wasn't good enough and I should wear khakis/slacks. I think I will just pack my Metallica t-shirts for anywhere aside from Blu.

Obviously some don't get the humor, but oh well. Let's try to figure you out.

1)Please tell me where I said You're not wearing clean jeans. I said clean jeans in general(you feeling guilty?)

2) I could care less what you wear, but the codes DO say no shorts in the dining venues(except buffet)That too hard for you to understand?

3) "You're on a ship, not Clancy's Pool Room" Remember where I said 10 points? Ok, please do try to keep up..That line is from a 3 Stooges episode called "Disorder in the Court"

"You're in a court, not Clancy's Pool Room, Cut it out" Do Google it. It will show up. The other line is: "You're in court, not the woods, Tarzan!" This is where people such as your self have NO sense of humor. If you're incapable of getting sarcastic humor, then sorry. I can't help you! If you took my post as Gospel, then I'm really sorry for you! Either way you'll find the majority will agree that shorts are simply not allowed in the dining venues(again, exception, buffet) All this being said, you obviously knew shorts are not permitted, but decided to make an issue out of it any way. Case closed.

I'm the one who made the other comment and it should be pointed out that unless you opened up the time clock on the first post of the thread, it was not obvious that it was a cold weather cruise until much later in the thread. That was my mistake in not doing so but quite frankly I don't usually.

When we did Cunard, we usually went out of the Brooklyn terminal in late Nov. early Dec. Yeah it was cold, but we loved that during the 3 days it took to get to the Caribbean, it slowly warmed up. By the third day, you knew your were in the tropics. This guy posted pics from a return trip from the tropics & on the last day they woke to over a foot of snow covering the ship. Now that must have been a rude awakening for many!

Thanks Ma, she’s 91, final stages of cancer , just hanging in there now. Good woman whose had a good life.

Sorry Don, it's not easy. I lost both my parents to cancer but they were only 65 and 71. At least they knew how much they were loved.
