Usually not 30degrees in the casino or a bar...

OK Don, have it your way.

I guess no one else is supposed to comment or express an opinion. Perhaps you should be the official Celebrity Dress Code monitor and all questions should be answered by you alone. You seem to give most of the answers already.

I must admit that my first thought was that for me (not a frequent shorts wearer) 30 degrees would seem like shorts weather. Then I remembered that the US still uses Fahrenheit, so 30 degtrres is cold! Today in Toronto it is 31 degrees and I am enjoying our air conditioning.

Yep, 32 degrees is freezing so I wouldn't think too many people would be packing their shorts. LOL

You would be surprised, we won a free cruise out of NYC from Harrahs in January. First couple of nights it was below freezing outside but almost everyone was in shorts inside the ship.

Grow up, at least I comment on things other than dress code..Check my posting record most of my comments on dress code are factual answers from the web site, I try not to give opinions but I did in this case because based upon experience I felt your comment was incorrect. I’ve even put disclaimers on my posts where necessary. I also tried to be respectful because you have a tendency for caustic comments which you did in all your responses to me on this subject.

Respectfully, I guess I'm wrong if there are many people who wear shorts when the temp is in the 30's at night.

Ma Bell - with all due respect... I follow many different folks here based on what they say about their cruise experiences. Your posts here seem out of context because the OP was redirecting his question to be about wearing shorts "inside" the ship in the evening. I don't know if that would have been out of place on a cruise in the Eastern Mediterranean (warm weather or not). What is warm to one person may be cold to somebody else. I wear shorts in November in Atlanta when the temps are in the 50s / 60s, but my relatives there are wearing pants and some are wearing a jacket or sweater.

I'm guessing you see fewer people wearing shorts on European cruises because that is not standard or typical in that environment.

LOL, I'm from Seattle 32° F is freezing for us in the United States. We wear shorts year round in Seattle. I'm never outside that long. I also have build in fur. Hairy legs.

The man is going to Japan, China and Korea in March. It's cold. I made one short sentence comment but someone finds it necessary to pick it apart.

I'm not the one out of context but it's just one small opinion. He can do what he likes.

All I can say is I'm very thankful for my husband.

As long as it's 32 degrees or above, it's temperate here in New England. I marvel at the kids waiting for their school buses in November and December in shorts and parkas, prepared for those weather extremes. When I travel to FLL in March for our Caribbean cruise, I will be wearing long jeans and my LL Bean rag sweater, sandals. A coat would be cumbersome so I leave it in the car, JIC, there is a blizzard on our return home.

OP, no shorts in the dining rooms after 6 p.m. That is the only dress code rule that Celebrity enforces.

So, hopefully end any peaceful disagreements, I made the post before checking on the average temps for our destinations. I was simply thinking of our trip through the Med where we wore shorts every day and couldn't remember if we changed for dinner or not...evidently we did.

After checking on the average temps in China(looking up the specific cities), Korea, and Japan in March, I found high 50s for the days. Living in Chicago, I could easily wear shorts on tours with this temp. Hong Kong was in the 70s.

So, I guess I will go back to my original question....let's say we opt for the buffet or room service for dinner....could I still wear shorts in the evening to the casino or simply relaxing at a bar?

No problem with shorts in the casino!

Hmmm. And here I thought I was the dress code moderator! I pretty much just draw the line to shorts in the dining venues(exception, buffet)Celebrity has moderated down to "Smart Casual", but I wish pax would understand that "Smart Casual" doesn't mean jeans(fresh from the barn) complimented by D/A T shirts(with the stupid "Sports team/NASCAR" etc. labels on them)Is it really that hard to wear a pair of khaki type slacks & a decent collared shirt? Does what pax wear to dinner affect my enjoyment? To a degree it does when I see slovenly looking people who show no sense of pride in themselves or any respect to those who made some effort to dress like they weren't coming home from a day in the grease pit.

Is a collared polo/golf type shirt okay for men to wear at night in the dining room rather than a button-down collar shirt? Also are sneakers/sandals acceptable footwear?

The shirt and sneakers are fine but the sandals are not.

Up until a few years ago we had a gentleman on this board with the screen name Newt, he was a genuinely nice guy and funny as heck. He made everyone laugh. I'm sure Ma Bell remembers him. They made him a guest moderator for a day and it was the funniest day ever on Cruise Critic. Perhaps you can convince the mods to make you a moderator for the day..

I’ve been on the Millenium twice in SE Asia and as these cruises attract a more mixed demographic of passenger I would say the standard of dress was higher than say a Carribean cruise which tends to be mostly folks from US. I certainly never saw anyone wearing shorts in the evening male or female.

How sad.

People going round and round, for years and years, worrying about what other people are wearing.

So much so that long-term posters now going after each other.

300+ days on Celebrity ships and saw what people claim to see all the time maybe a handful of times, after missing a couple fingers. And did those couple of times affect my cruise, let alone my life? Not a whit.

Yes on the polo shirt(I like Ralph Lauren, but that's me)Clean "sneaks" are fine. Sandals are a real open debate. I think they need to be closed toe.(not totally sure) I wear Timberland/Sperry boat shoes for my footwear.

I really DO try to get some good laughs out there. Sometimes some of the pax just can't get a joke. I used to be more serious on the dress codes. I'm sure you've seen some of those. Shorts/T shirts in the MDR are pretty much where I still drew the line. After dinner pax can wear what they like. On our 2017 Eclipse cruise, this lady & husband (very elderly)had the strangest outfits. She always wore this crazy stuff in her hair, It was "twigs" & birds, but for the life of me it looked like bats! The guy had the BLACKEST hair & when he came out of the pool, the comb over hung down below his shoulders. More recently on our 2018 Oceania trip, this woman had so much botox injections, her lips were "pursed" & she looked like "Daisy Duck". The rest of her was "puffed" here & there as well. Like a "Mae West" body, but on an 85 year old. God, kind of like Mae herself near the end!
