paulgraff Posted February 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2013 Things I am looking forward to when the Triumph docks... I can't wait to hear the reviews on this cruise and just how long it takes for the class action law suit to hit the courts... and yes I would sue too. And if I was on board I would be so pissed that they cut off the booze. PG

monicajay Posted February 12, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2013 No. What is there to sue about???? There was a fire. Nobody was injured. (thank god) Nobody is starving. The cruise line immediately made a generous offer. What am I missing here?
Rare sparks1093 Posted February 12, 2013 #5 Share Posted February 12, 2013 Would you sue CCL if you were on the Triumph? I would. PG What were your injuries and what damages did you sustain? CCL is making everyone whole by refunding their entire cruise fare. They are going over and above that by providing a credit toward another cruise. They are going over and above that by covering traveling expenses back to the states. What more do you think you would get in a court of law? seashell64 Posted February 12, 2013 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2013 There is an inherent risk in EVERYTHING we do; especially when it comes to traveling; this was a horrible event and it looks to me that Carnival is doing everything they can to get these people home in one piece and compensate them for their ordeal. With that being said, I would not want to be on that ship right now, but my thoughts would not be to sue for an unfortunate accident that no one had control over. soapbxking Posted February 12, 2013 #8 Share Posted February 12, 2013 Ok trust me when I say, I have been in the Navy when we have been without potable water etc, and I know it is not pleasant at all, BUT...... sue for what??? It appears that Carnival, at this time, is going to make everything as right as they possibly can. Could they foresee this?? Give me a break....those ships run 24/7 for years and years...nothing can withstand that!!! yes I realize that it must suck, and I would not want to be onboard, but give me a break.. Just more and more of you wanting a handout, something more than you deserve, wanting to exploit a situation and milk it like a dairy cow!!! I sympathize with everyone on board and hope they are doing the best they can and are safe!! As for the booze. Trust me, I would not like it cut off, but then again I understand that stress is high right now and I am certain they are taking safety and the possibility of fights etc when/if they did this!! AND...I am looking forward to sailing on Liberty in April!!!

CdrescherRBL152 Posted February 12, 2013 #12 Share Posted February 12, 2013 Just don't see on what grounds they would be filling a lawsuit over. And as Carnival is in fact making every reasonable effort to get them to safety, and will be refunding the total coast of the cruise, on board expenses opther then the gift shops and the casino, travel coast, plus credit equall to the price paid for a future cruise. What they would possiably be entilled to. That said I am sure in this get rich quick society we have now. More then a few lawsuits will be filled People looking to get $100,000,000 for a weeks lost time. Heck going back ohh 17 years now, a bus for company I was driving. Caught fire on their way home from A.C. 1 of the lawsuits they claimed they $5,0000,000 cash in a cooler under the bus that went up in smoke. beachbum53 Posted February 12, 2013 #15 Share Posted February 12, 2013 Would you sue CCL if you were on the Triumph? I would. PG No, but I would be hesitant to book another cruise on the Triumph any time within the near future. Why would YOU sue CCL, after all that's being done for the passengers affected by this unfortunate incident?

Rare sparks1093 Posted February 12, 2013 #19 Share Posted February 12, 2013 Only if you could show CCL was negligent in regards to the fire or loss of power. Even then you would still need to show that you were harmed in some way which would be difficult to show with CCL reimbursing everything and with no physical injury. CdrescherRBL152 Posted February 12, 2013 #22 Share Posted February 12, 2013 so sue me :) And if you think people have no ground or reason to sue you have no clue. PG Funny you belive others have no clue. But yet when asked what grounds would they sue on, you either won't or can't answer. And since the most Carnival could be held liable for are moniers paid to Carnival and they are already giving more then that back.
girlsjustwannacruise Posted February 12, 2013 #23 Share Posted February 12, 2013 WOW! that is stupid!! Carnival is doing everything they can to fix the ship and are giving back the money and giving them a future cruise. i know it must really suck, but to sue???? really??? thats whats wrong with the world and thats why prices are so high in healthcare and other areas because idiots are so unforgiving for every single mistake that happens in life. its life, **** happens. at least they were not in an airplane and it went down? at least the entire ship did not go up in flames. now if the auto sprinklers didnt work and such, there would be an issue, but i think carnival handled this emergency very well. hoping for a safe return for the passengers, my heart goes out to them. :(

okgirl Posted February 12, 2013 #25 Share Posted February 12, 2013 The only thing someone might possibly sue for would be lost wages. However, I'm not sure that would be won, since the entire cruise fare is being refunded and would likely offset most peoples lost wages. But in my situation (retired)..No, I wouldn't sue.
