Good Morning from the PACIFIC PRINCESS

HI Toto if you dont swim with the sharks in Bora Bora try the underwater walk. It is fabulous even for non swimmers. You walk around on the sea bed keeping your head and hair dry under a glass helmet with air coming in. the sights to be seen under the water are so clear and good particularly for those of us who cannot and have never snorkled or dived.

We found Nemo and lots of other types of fish and the sting rays in that area are very friendly and cuddle you as you feed them they really feel strange like velvet on one side and almost set jelly on the other. An experience to remember and etreasure:p

Crossing the Line Ceremony...

Ahoy Pollywogs and Shellbacks...

If anyone wants to see my photos from our ceremony on Pacific Princess you can find them in the below link

If you are familiar with Frankie there's a hilarious picture of him in there

You can also see the certificate you get and find out more information on the historical origins of this ancient ceremony, the cruise lines have adapted for us!

It's formal night tonight and we are hiding out in the stateroom. Had a couple of big wins in the casino today, so don't need to go out and be tempted to give it back right away. lol

We will probably order in this evening, it's time for Lobster and Beef Wellington. :) The weather is beautiful, and we just might be able to try again to have dinner on the balcony. No rain in site, and the sprinklers haven't dripped in several days and we are beginning to feel safe again. ;)

It seems our rough seas leaving Hawaii have delayed our arrival in Bora Bora. We won't be getting in until 3-4 hours later than expected. Our group has emailed Patrick to see if we can begin our tour late and extend it a bit into the evening.

The PSD Ivono stopped me in the casino to alert me to the fact that we will be staying in Bora until about 8:00 PM instead of sailing at 5:00 as we were scheduled to. Since Moorea is less than 100 miles away, we can still arrive on time in Moorea.

We have two more days in Bora Bora on the second leg of this cruise, but the others in the CC group have only one change to visit, so I was very glad to spread the word that our stay will be extended.

Looks like we will have time to make it to Sabatinis for breakfast after all in the morning, as we thought we would have to miss it with the early tour.

OK, time to do something here, if only to enjoy the beauitful end to another day.

Hi Toto,

It's been so good sailing along with you - wait a minute, I AM sailing along with you! :D

I am also on this cruise and have had the good fortune to meet Toto - she is as warm and friendly IRL as she is on these boards.

With the mishaps of 6088 (which are hopefully over!) - I was originally booked in that cabin - Toto and I switched cabins a month or so ago because she was booked in 6091 for the first leg and 6088 for the 2nd leg of her B2B and I was booked in 6088 for this trip. 6088 and 6091 are identical cabins, so it was not a big deal for me to switch and this way she could have the same cabin for both legs of her trip. I was trying to be nice, Toto - not trying to give you the "bad" cabin!!

We are having SUCH a nice time and enjoying the suite benefits very much - the breakfast in Sabatinis is the perfect way to start each morning. We have been enjoying our balcony as well...and that evening the other night was truly spectacular - we spent it on the balcony as well.

We are having such a relaxing time - the Hawaiian Islands were beautiful, we enjoyed our days at sea, and we are looking forward to BoraBora tomorrow!

Well, dinner just arrived so I will sign off...just wanted to pop on your thread, Toto, and say hello!

It is an amazing cruise...I am so glad we are here and it is great to be really cruising with Toto. :)

Hi Toto,

Thanks for taking us along on your journey. We will be there in about 5 weeks. The time is getting closer.

Just a question. What is swimming in the water in your Christmas Island pictures? Dolphin or Whale?

Well, after reading through your thread Toto, I now know what I will suggest DH and I do for our 25th wedding anniversary!! Sounds like you are having a fantastic time, thanks so much for taking all of us along.

You have such a great attitude. I love it:D

I am really enjoying your pictures. It has been getting colder here in Ohio and we moved from summer to late fall quickly it seems. Your great pictures of beautiful blue water and white sandy beaches has been a virtual warm up.

Enjoy your cruise and cannot wait to see pictures from BoraBora!

Toto: I hope you got to use your rain check for your balcony dinner. Have thoroughly enjoyed your live updates and enjoy the rest of your cruise. It is sure quiet on CC with you being away.

Good Morning! We are now in sight of Bora Bora, and sometime within the next 90 minutes we should be tendering into shore where Patricks canoe awaits us. We will be arriving 4-5 hours late because of the sea conditions leaving Hawaii and some sort of technical problems (is what was announced last night, finally. Even though Ivono alerted me in the early afternoon, the captain didn't make the passengers aware until about 7:30 yesterday evening). They have extended our stay until 9:00 PM to make up for the morning we will be missing on shore, and also have credited everyones account with $50 as a good will gesture for the technical problems, which were part of the cause for the delay.

You can walk around the ship and feel the excitement, for those who have never visited the islands before. Even the staff that will get time off today are jumping up and down for joy that they get to visit this beautiful island.

To answer a few questions asked, we did enjoy our complimentary dinner at Sterlings Steakhouse including the wine of our choice the other evening. They were awaiting us and treated us exceptionally special. In fact, we have probably never been treated better onboard a ship in our lives. Is it the suite we booked, or possibly because of the problems we have had? We will never know for sure, but each of the officers have treated us more like royalty each time we meet.

The picture of the 'splash' was a group of dolphins playing around the ship that day, but my camera is only a point and shoot (totally challenged as a photographer I am afraid) so I was unable to catch the critter out of the water.

Hopefully today we will be able to get some great pics on Bora Bora which I can post in a few days.

This cruise for an anniversay is absolutely the perfect choice. But be forwarned, it is not one for someone that might not take rough seas very well. We have sailed the Hawaii to Tahiti cruise 4 times and never once had a smooth sailing of it. We love the motion of the ocean, but I am afraid some passengers onboard would definitely argue that point with us. lol

Off I go to watch the approach to Bora Bora and hopefully get some pictures to post later on.

Have a great day everyone!

Toto,

I have been following your blog with interest as you are bringing the Pacific Princess over for us to cruise on in November! My question is in regards to formal nights. We have cruised in Tahiti/French Polynesia before on the Paul Gauguin and the Windsong. Both required Country Club Elegant, which meant that men wore jackets(sometimes light colored) and tie or a collared shirt with the jacket. Still very smart looking, but nowhere as formal as a tux. No gowns as well, but coctail dresses. Considering the weather of the tropics, which can be even warmer than the Caribbean, what have you noted as far as dress on formal night? We may consider doing room service, as a black suit/tux in Tahiti, is to say, quite warm. On Regent Seven Seas Paul Gauguin, it's very upscale, and you dressed to fit the bill, but again, no formal nights at all....a blessing. I hope that I do not get flamed for this(first time on Princess), but having been there 3 times, I just cannot imagine a dark suit? Just want to know what you have seen on board to date. November will be their summer!! We have spent close to 2 months in travel there, and never a tux.

Love your daily updates!!!

Thanks.

Tell us all about your day on Bora Bora--I'm so jealous--we'll be there on the 23rd--a little over 2 weeks from now

I think I remember that you're going with Patrick today--we're going with him while we're staying in Bora Bora pre cruise--we've never gone on the excursion with him--let me know what it's like.

Thanks

We loved our 20 night b2b on the Tahitian Princess 3 years ago. We made a decision NOT to lug formal wear and were well aware of the "fashion police". We had a table for 2 and on all the formal nights I wore a long Tahitian sundress, and DH wore a tropical shirt and white dockers. We both wore sandals. The only looks we got were from the poor men who were suffering in Tuxs when it was sunny and 80! We will not "hide out" on formal nights and on that particular cruise, we did not dress formal.

I was unable to access CC last night, connection was impossible, so waited to check in this morning.

We had a perfect day in Bora Bora yesterday. Only about 5-10 minutes of rain while we were having lunch on the Motu. Swam with the stingrays, 'some' watched the sharks from the water (nope, I chickened out after the last time and just watched from the canoe, although my DH loved it). We had lunch (poor little piggy) on the Motu and also saw the gorgeous views from the tallest points from the 4X4. A perfect day (even though we arrived very late) and were back about and hour after sunset. Couldn't have asked for better weather.

We have an early tour today pn Moorea, so I don't have time to edit and post the pictures (we took over 100). There should be more time tomorrow and the next day as we will be in Papeete, and must bid farwell to the freinds we have met as they end their cruise and head for home.

It's is a wonderful morning this morning, the sky is partly cloudy and the temperature on the balcony is warm enough to have us looking very forward to our the day ahead on a motu with a great beach and lunch (ship excurison booked today with CC friends).

As for the question about dress. On formal night I didn't see anyone not dressed formally on this cruise (I was quite surprised actually). Although most men were in dark suits or tux, there were a few light colored suit jackets. We dined in our suite on lobster and all the goodies, and didn't venture out except to have a look around. In fact, there were so many dressed formally, except for the buffet, we felt a bit out of place in our casual clothes. We had dessert at the buffet, and Marco asked us why we didn't go to the dining room, we told him this was 'their' (those who enjoy formal wear) night and we didn't want to spoil it for them. Will have a look on this sailing and see what others wear on formal night and report back then.

Time to dress and head to sabatinis for breakfast and get ready for our day in Moorea. Check back tomorrow and hopefully I can get some pictures posted by then of our lovely day in Bora Bora.

Glad to see you are having a great time. I'm curious about wifi in public areas. Such as 10 forward(lounge), & library. I tried 10 forward on debarkation day but they said internet had been down since the late evening before.

Thanks
