Wearing a robe from room to the pool

I REALLY wish that people WOULD NOT wear their bathrobe anyplace except for their stateroom and perhaps to a spa appointment. I have seen far too many wear them in the Lido! I really feel that after a spa treatment or on the way to one that you should be clothed. I know that they feel great and you are just trying to be comfortable. by hey~ not all of us wish to see you in your bathrobe. Just MHO!

HOWEVER, after re-thinking this... If you are young and firm and make my lip's quiver~~ go ahead and wear it! I hope that I am never too old to appreciate a hunk!:D

I can not believe the number of posts concerning bathrobes and baseball caps on HAL's posts. What happened to learning about ships, ports of call, shore excursions, etc.

As I posted under the baseball cap thread this reminds me of a Mastercard commercial.

1. Cost to join the cruise critic: $0.00

2. Cost to take a cruise of a lifetime on Monday on the Rotterdam to the South Pacific: $12,550

3. Seeing a passenger on formal night in the Main Dining Room wearing a baseball cap, wearing a HAL bathroom robe, with dirty jeans, flip flops and no socks: PRICELESS

Please tell me you don't think flip flops and socks should be worn together.

No, just someone posted the fact that they saw a passenger in the MDR with flip flops and no socks somewhere in this thread of the cap thread !

Good grief....some people have very odd ideas of what goes together. I would think seeing flip flops with socks would be weird, not the opposite.

All I can say is that this thread is a hoot and a half! Funniest moment of my day--looking forward to reading the rest of it after dinner (I'm on pg. 5--sounds like I've got some more hilarity ahead).

A sure way to spot a (Western) European tourist in the 80s and 90s:

Sandles with dark dress socks and shorts (no baseball hats then:eek:)

Don't forget Canadians. I see that now. I guess some think it's to cold without socks:D.

Well, if you're going to the SPa or pool why not.... but on our Freedom cruise last march..... last night on board.... woman in the Casino wearing her robe and slippers around 11 pm .... I thought that was a bit exaggerated!

I used to bring a robe from home to use after I got out of the hot tub. Does this violate the code ?

The ship robe I kept in the cabin to keep it clean.

There is no "code" regarding wearing robes in the pool area(s). Some people on here believe it should not be done, though, and think it's in very poor taste to do so. Personally, makes no difference to me.

"What's in a word . . . ."

Think back to all the B/W movies of the 30's & 40's :

How many of the most sophisticated and classy/highbrow men and women were shown entertaining guests in very fashionable dressing robes ?

For the men even with a tie or ascot !

Then there is the Kimono, which is after all a "robe"

And let's see . . . . Judges Robes, Graduation Robes, Ceremonial Robes, Clerical Robes, Imperial Robes, etc.

These are not appropriate for Poolside or the Lido ?? or OMG an elevator

I would venture to guess that even the ney-sayers about wearing the HAL robes anywhere outside their cabins would secretly LOVE to snuggle in one when stepping out of the pool.

JMHO.

r.
