wines60 Posted March 9, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2010 I've know there is a thread regarding wearing the ship porvided robes to the pool. There are many "coverup" options for women, but what is recommended for men instead of that oft maligned cabin robe? Tee shirt, button up shirt? I'm looking for ideas before I start packing for our upcoming cruise. Want to make sure DH and I will pass inspection!! :D
Old As Dirt Mom Posted March 9, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2010 My husband wears a tee shirt with his swim trunks to the pool. He does change into dry clothes before sitting down to eat in the Lido:) There, that was fairly simple, wasn't it?;)
fsdj1097 Posted March 9, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2010 How about flip flops and a baseball cap? LOL!!! Actually, any shirt will do.

Want to make sure DH and I will pass inspection!! :D My husband always wears one of his Red Sox, Patriots, or Celtics t-shirts with his swim trunks to the pool. (Based on his t-shirt collection, I'll bet you can tell what part of the country we are from):) Enjoy the Zuiderdam! We cruised the Zuiderdam last April and enjoyed the BEST service EVER! taxmantoo Posted March 9, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 9, 2010 On formal nights, you may want to try one of these Utilikilts...
K&RCurt Posted March 9, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 9, 2010 Going to the pool I wear one of my "DAMN SHIPS" tee shirts and my swim trunks and a pair of sandals. The only other things I need are my sunglasses, ship card, a book and my ipod. Don't make it more complicated than necessary. And Taxmantoo - A Utilikilt? Really...that's like the jeans of kilts! Casual night at best for those!
luvs2travl Posted March 9, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 9, 2010 A nice T-shirt and some flips or sandals. That's what I've noticed most men wearing... It's always so much easier for the men, isn't it? ;)
usha Posted March 9, 2010 #8 Share Posted March 9, 2010 ;)If he hasn't been to the gym in a long, long time, this might be a good pool cover up:
taxmantoo Posted March 9, 2010 #9 Share Posted March 9, 2010 And Taxmantoo - A Utilikilt? Really...that's like the jeans of kilts! Casual night at best for those! They REALLY do have a "tuxedo" model...and, best of all, they are only $566.00
Krazy Kruizers Posted March 9, 2010 #10 Share Posted March 9, 2010 My DH wears bermudas over his swim trunks and for the top he uses either a tee shirt that he wears in the gym or a polo shirt.
cccole Posted March 9, 2010 #11 Share Posted March 9, 2010 My husband prefers a short sleeve button shirt so he doesn't have to pull things over his head, especially if not totally dry. Cherie
cb at sea Posted March 9, 2010 #12 Share Posted March 9, 2010 T-shirt...hawaiian shirt....that's all he needs! Unless he's wearing a Speedo (which he shouldn't!), then shorts will be needed, too!
kelleherdl Posted March 9, 2010 #13 Share Posted March 9, 2010 I was wondering how long it would take to start the speedo bashing. :D Dennis
sail7seas Posted March 9, 2010 #14 Share Posted March 9, 2010 DH loves aft pool and trots himself out there at one point or another every sunny day wearing his swimsuit and tee or polo jersey and flipflops. Wines........ Don't fret too much about what to wear. I'm sure you and your DH will be just fine. Anyone who cares enough to ask about tee/polo vs robe for coverup clearly is sensitive to not offending. Your choices will be good ones. Look ahead to having fun, enjoying yourselves and destressing. (is that a word? :)
iancal Posted March 9, 2010 #15 Share Posted March 9, 2010 There is something seriously wrong with our society when we have to worry about/discuss what cover ups are appropriate, in absolutely everyone's opinion, at the pool on board a cruise ship. Just go on vacation and have a great time....do as you please and don't read half the the nonsense on this board as to what is acceptable and when. Most of it, including mine, are just comments from people who live in in Dry Snake, Nev. and don't get out much.
