I agree with you, but it's not going to happen. Carnival has already invested big money in those giant TV screens. They aren't going to just turn them off after spending the money. The only hope is that they don't put screens on future ships and have live bands instead, but I wouldn't bet on that either. The big screens seem to be their thing now.

Though I admit I haven't been on a ship with the big screen yet, so I should at least give it a chance I guess. But I'm not too optimistic I'll like it better than a calypso band.

First two cruises we sailed ships without the screen. Dh is a movie buff and he was excited about it. Once onboard, we were really disappointed - it's become a big babysitter during the day instead of the live music, the volume was really loud, the picture quality was bad, and the movie times were such that they tended to conflict with both dinner times (7pm for instance.) Our last two cruises have been on ships without the screens and we both noticed how much quieter the Lido deck felt and how much more relaxing it was. Although in both cases the calypso "band" was two guys with a recorded background and they weren't very good. :( I miss having a full reggae band of four people on the Lido. Kind of doesn't feel like a cruise without it. The live music was exceptionally good on our first few cruises, the last few it's been pretty sad with the pre-recorded stuff and a bunch of solo piano guys.

Oh- and the stuff during the day wasn't even movies. It was odd slideshows of stuff that had nothing to do with cruising.

I remember that as well.That was wild.:eek::D

I have no problem with you wearing the robe, since you are going to wear it.If you were to leave it in the closet all week and it get washed again for no reason, thats what irks me.

Steve

I request mine to be washed twice a day, just for good measure. And would it kill them to spruce those old robes up with some seal skin accents or maybe some Mink lining? I digress....Now where is room service with my Condor omlet?

How about some music other than steel drums playing on the Lido deck.

No way... when I'm on a cruise in the Caribbean I look forward to hearing steel drums while I'm lounging by the pool ... :D

Higher prices -

* Bring back fruit punch.

* Big screen TV is ok, but, make sure it looks good and sounds great. Otherwize it's a giant nuisance. And no TV shows, News, etc. as I am trying to get away from that.

* I LOVE a caribbean band by the pool.

* Open the pools and spas until at least 12:30 am.

* Add some wait staff to the MDR! I am disappointed with cold food, slow requests for garlic salt, coffee etc., and seeing them work so hard while we wait for those requests. We hate having our main course delivered while other tables are finishing dessert.

* Please keep formal nights. It's the one thing that reminds people the past glamor of cruising.

* More time in port. I know it's a huge security issue. But in ports where there is minimum risk it would be nice to visit a local restaurant for dinner, watch the sunset on the beach, book a decent fishing trip, try out the nightlife or gamble, etc.

* I love the casino poker table. But, maybe add some non-smoking BJ tables or half table seats or other areas in the casino. Often I won't take a seat (or I'll leave) cause I'll have to second-hand-smoke.

* Put the gratuities on my ticket price. It's STOOPID to add $$$ to my bill as soon as I board. I hate seeing charges on my sail-and-sign before I buy anything! I know the staff get paid their wages plus tips and I'm certainly for automated tips (because I know some real cheapskates) but if you charge me in advance I'm sure I'll have more money to use on board for the casino, pictures, excursions...

* Keep the drinks flowing at the Captain's party. Another formality that makes a cruise a delight.

* Please put a piano player in the Steakhouse. Please!

* I remember when I used to shoot Skeet off the back of the boat. Well I guess that won't be coming back! :p

The costs associated with laundering extra towels for amusement purposes are HUGE.

the towel animals usually make it through a couple of pictures and then they are used for towels in my cabin:o we really need them on the floor of the bathroom after showers or other stuff:rolleyes:

"I'd love it if they'd keep the pools/hot tubs open late at night. They close them all way too early for my liking. "

YES! I think the pools and hot tubs should be open until midnight, and 1 am would be better. If you don't want to be elbowed in the face by 10 year olds, you can't go near the pool in the day. There's nothing better than hitting the pool or hot tub after dark and relaxing after a long day in port.

I for one would love a jazz trio. They had one on the conquest the last time I went (or jazz band comprized of the regular showroom musicians) however, I couldnt stand to be in the room with them due to the cigar and cigarette smoke. The Cigar bar was poorly ventelated. Not trying to stop people from smoking their cigars, but I'm sure the location of the act has alot to do with its success. ANother thing is get a more festive piano singer for the piano bar. There was one on the ecstacy who was awsome. the place was packed almost every night. The one both times I was on the conquest, rarely had anyone sticking around.

They should not discount the pricing for certian groups of people.People choose their ocupations and they are paid accordingly.

Get rid of the towel animals and save our seas and no longer put bathrobes in any cabin.

Steve

Keep the Towel animals and the bath robes!!! I do agree, with you however about the discounting for certian groups...

If I am going to pay more I want ports that not every ship goes to....some of the less traveled Islands (Trinidad, Tobago, St Croix, San Blas ETC)

I have no problem with Carnival keeping things on the ship as they are; BUT....If they can give people what they want without increasing their bottom line (They're travelling the carribean anyway) it's a win win for them! Give us a more creative itinerary...I have been to Cozumel (6 times love it but...) Grand Cayman (4 times can't stand it...no offense:D) SanJuan (3 or 4 times I forget which as a debarkation point, at one time cruise ships use to sail out of most of the Islands...what happened?) Aruba (6 times...l0ve it and if the rumors are true and you add Curacao I'll gladly go back I've only been to Curacao once about 15 years ago!)

The only thing different I would like for my cruise dollar....now cruise dollar and a half; are more creative itinaeraries....show the rest what made you the best....give us some different Islands!!!!

Andy

Well said! We recently booked the Liberty Eastern Itinerary because we really favour the eastern Caribbean. Anyway, it took us about 2 weeks to pick this one and I have to say it was picked almost like a default pick. We've only been on 7 cruises and we're already tired of certain ports. The itineraries really need a shake up and not a Royal Caribbean style shakeup either. I don't want 3 days at sea! Give us some new ports or at least mix them up a little.

Each person could enter their cabin number or something and view only their pictures if that is all they have time for. Who wants to hunt for 30 minutes to find your pictures among 3,000 other guests or have your embarrassing photos shown to the entire ship by default?

At the same time give you lots of purchasing options and print only the digitals that are desired and paid for.

Cindy:)

How exactly would that work? To pull up only your pics by cabin#?

Unless you're writing your cabin # on your foreheads in all your pics? :D

They would swipe your s&s when you take the pics so they could link them back to your cabin number later. :) I believe Disney has a similar system at their parks.

Well I have read this entire post - and I am getting ready for my first Carnival Cruise - and you all have given me lots of information. thanks

No Jazz trio? that's too bad - I have enjoyed this on Hollabd, RC, and Princess.

Robes - are ok if your gonna use them.. I can go either way on this.

I'm most concerned about the "dirty" towel animals.. EEEEEK!

Smoking.. I'm a smoker - I do think there should be non-smoking casino nights - Princess does this. I do smoke on the balcony - and I think they should really try to make one side smoking and one NOT for balconies.

Pictures - a rip off on every cruise line, however I have always purchased 5x7 prints on my cruises.

I love the Calypso music on board - sets the mood for the whole trip - I can do without the big screen TV.

Pools - definately should have one open late..along with hot tubs - and maybe that jazz trio playing outside with smoking and NON smoking sides of the pool.. just for the adults. Now there is an idea!

happy sailing everyone!!!
