Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for reporting this. . .

I heard that RCI was thinking about matching the X Coupon Book for D+.

Thanks for your report. . .

Just a few more days and we will see.

Did I thank you ?:D

Thanks again,

You're quite welcome! Actually, we will be on the same cruise you are... Carnival Glory on June 14th!

A question was asked about where the information came from in the original post.

I think that the best thing is to believe it when it is announced and prior to that speculate if it amuses you.

No need to shout!

I did not post the names of the two independent sources for valid reasons. Primarily, I did not want to take the risk that the information conveyed was not really supposed to be revealed before June 1st. It would be highly inappropriate to risk having these wonderful folks subject to some form of corporate censure if they simply did not know what the policy was.

A second concern was that they could be mistaken. Once again, in that case, it would not be appropriate to reveal their identity.

Sorry if that upsets people. My only goal was to assuage some of the fears of Cruise Critic members with the best information available.

RCI employees not being familiar with corporate policy. Who would have thunk it.

Though we do appreciate your conveying the information and we certainly hope that what you have initially told us is correct with possibly a few more surprises, sometimes it's better to keep things like this under one's hat until the official announcement............then nobody comes away with egg on their face.;)

This all goes back to the LA on board Mariner who had no idea that a New Best Price Guarantee Program went into effect on May 17.......but it was business as usual for her booking cruises under the old policy.

Just off an RCCL ship and discussions with two individuals yielded the following...

The changes will be positive and will include...

1. An upgrading of the coupon book. RCCL has heard the complaints!

2. A restoration of some combinability features... e.g. coupons and onboard booking. Apparantly, the stockholder credit is still being debated.

3. There will be NO CHANGES to the number of cruise credits needed to attain various elite levels.

It all sounded very positive to me!:)

#1 and #2 would be welcome news - thanks for posting!

I thought it was a free fitness class in March when I was on Infinity. It was NOT free if you read the fine print. I believe it required the purchase of a personal training package. Do you still have the coupons? What is required might be written on the back.

Most everything else was pretty clear cut. The laundry does have some fine print about when the coupons must be used. We didn't realize it and ended up being too late to use the dry cleaning. And they wouldn't do any pickups of laundry during the evening turndown. Everything needs to be ready before the room steward gets there in the morning.

That goes without saying, especially if the changes are positive ones. Only the ones that have a negative impact go into effect just before we sail (ex. we boarded Jewel of the Sea

s for her westbound transatlantic on September 2, 2009.:D

Yes, we were allowed in the CL on the first part of a B2B on the Jewel and then not on the next part of the cruise -Sept. 2. We were D then.

They did have a person from RCL Customer Relations from Florida, on the ship though, for the TA and she circulated every night in the D Lounge getting feed back from the passengers............

You really are a glass is half-empty kind of guy aren't you, Anthony.? I realize that eventually what you post may come to fruition, (I believe you were only about a year and a half premature with your previous predictions) but it seems a bit silly to be worrying about possible changes more than six months before they might occur.

Who's worrying? The changes won't affect us.

I hope you are correct......I LOVE BEING D+.....WE CAN DRINK AND DRINK AND DRINK in the CL forever!!!!!...BUT WE TIP VERY WELL ALSO......I WANT TO BE D+ ON THE OASIS FOR HALLOWEEN!....Maybe if this is true...I might get a costume and be Adam Goldstein for the cruise....NOT!! :)

Think they need to look at the way the reward levels are set - I have done two 14 night cruises and am going on my third next week. So 28 days on board so far. If I had done that as 3 or 5 night cruises I would be on the next level now. Surely it should be nights on board - not number of cruises.

Assuming, of course, that the June 1st date is real.:D We sail on June 11th and hope that if there are any positive changes coming, they have been announced and put into effect by then.;)

In case of upgraded coupon books, I´d say it will be like 6-12 month until they´ve used up all old ones and printed new ones for all ships in the fleet;)

It is a fact that about the changes

The clarification is

Anything that is Crown and Anchor relates will be combinable

Next cruise with Balcony discount --coupons form Crown and Anchor

Balcony discount with coupon .However it must be a Crown and Anchor related coupon..Not for example a welcome back coupon

Shareholder will not be one of the combinable offers

Next cruises will only be allwed to be purchased by Crown and Anchor members , so any first timer wil have to join Crown and Anchor to be able to book a Next cruise

New booklet upgrades where as the Photo coupon will be making a comeback to the books and some of the other missed items

Also D Plus upgrades will be monitered and given in a different manner to prevent present problems

These are facts not speculation and I will let it go from there

Wear runners clothes with a number in front & back like the marathoners, carry a pingpong paddle in one hand and a stack of stock options in the other.

Not that I don't LOVE inside information. But I love when people slide in inside information, post it as FACT -- don't say where it came from and say "I will let it go from here"

So I guess you are saying that it will make it worth it to purchase Next Cruises on Board again? Just when I got used to telling everyone not to bother -- because it wasn't combinable with anything (when you were a Diamond or D+ and booked balconies) -- So now we are back to making it worth it again?

All of these policy changes are driving me crazy. Just when I got use to the non-combinables and no price drops -- now the combinables are back. Someone pass me the eraser -- and that big manual again

So does this mean that when booking a specific cruise or a NC on board (got to be a C&A Member)

The clarification is

Anything that is Crown and Anchor relates will be combinable

You will be able to get the balcony discount plus the OBC for booking on board!? They are both C&A related.

In due time this will be addressed. It should have been corrected a long time ago. And it will be.

I would love this idea!! It just seems to be a fair option. We always book 7 or more nights, and spend at least double what others do on a 3-4 night cruise.

I'm beginning to feel like a broken record. I have said many times that I believe they will begin re-combining in some way, so I have continued to buy next cruises while on board. The potential benefit far outweighs the risk/cost of the purchase.

When I booked the Liberty TransAtlantic for Oct 2011, I was given a choice of a 2 (3?) category upgrade plus $300 OBC OR just the balcony discount. Since I booked single occupancy and may downgrade to OV, depending on pricing, I took the upgrade/OBC offer. It's beginning to look like I made the right choice, for the right reasons. :D

The last time that I was told something onboard by one of the staff members and then posted it on CC.....it never materlized. So, outside of the fact that the Captain of the Radiance said to everyone in attendence of the C & A party that "Diamonds will like the upcoming changes", we will just have to wait and see what and if anything happens in a couple of days!

So far the changes sound very positive. My hope is that RC is able to communicate whatever the said changes are to every employee on land or on a ship so the changes are uniform as far as employees knowing what is going on.

Here's waiting and hoping for the best.

It will be interesting on Tuesday. I agree with the post that said - let's wait till Tuesday and then we know it will be fact.

As for current policy versus speculation, I am going to be interested in what happens to the cruises that I already booked?

1) If I took the 3 level upgrade plus the OBC - can I now add in the Balcony discount?

2) If I took the balcony discount, can I now add in a coupon?

Or - will I be stuck with whatever I have now and have to either re-book or wait to apply the chages to my new bookings?

Two days to speculate and hope!

PS - I am going to be sorly disappointed if they do not allow the shareholders to combine.....we should be treated differently than the first time cruiser (or even the 2nd time cruiser who has now joined C and A) !!!
