  • 3 weeks later...

A casino at each end; one for smoking, one non-smoking for those who want to gamble but not die of second-hand smoke. Moving them to the ends would greatly facilitate passenger flow on the ship. Move the elevators more to the center.

A solarium with hot tubs (none on the EPIC)

More outside deck space with more seating; even bench seating is ok.

Single balcony or outside rooms. Would be nice to have two singles that connect.

Two bedroom cabins, preferrably balcony or some way to partition divide a suite into 2 separate sleeping areas (for the snorers among us).

Pull out magnifying mirrors.

One that I'd love to see but know the chances of it happening are all but nill is an indoor swimming pool- not a solarium, or a covered swimming pool, but a true, indoor swimming pool.

Another would be more emphasis on the fact that this is a ship, ala Vison and Radiance class.

Have large, open spaces with sea views, rather than many small and large interior spaces without any. Celebrate the fact that cruisers are at sea, don't try to shield them away from that fact.

Do something innovative with the Royal Viking Lounge, in a way to make it an important and focal point of the ship as it once was.

Teak decking, and lounge chairs- again, the chances of this happening are meek, but good, traditional hard wood go a long way in creating a quality onboard feeling.

A few years ago a cruise director mentioned that the Oasis will have a waterside that goes from the pool deck to below. Just imagine the fun a multistory waterside would be. Obviously this would revolutionary and I was upset that it didn't make the Oasis class.

I would like to see rooms for solo travelers with no or low supplement to pay! NCL does it why can't RCI? You are neglecting a market where there would be more solo people signing up to travel but because of the high supplement, it's a discouragement to this special group of people. This is something you should consider in your plans for the new ship and it's long over due!

It would be fun to have a complimentary mystery dining venue named The Royal Caribbean Cooking Academy where each cruise has a different theme. On one cruise you could have Habachi style cooking, another cruise would have Middle Eastern Cooking.

There would be a show Live from the Royal Caribbean Cooking Academy where cruisers and RCI chefs can cook and then host a TV program with the dishes they created. There could be a kids cooking show, a gameshow like Iron chef where you have a certain amount of time to cook up dishes using the ingredients you are presented with. Another show could be a Kitchen Nightmare show where your restaurant has been left in a mess and you are not getting enough customers. Gordon Ramsey(played by a chef on board) comes to your Restaurant and rates your kitchen, quality of food and design and helps you to make the restaurant a better place to eat.

During Breakfast on sea days you can cook and eat your creations same for lunch and dinner. Learn how to make desserts.

You can get a DVD of your show.

It would be nice to have Il Fornaios, Ruth Chris's Steakhouse, Poor House Bistro, Illy's Coffee, Maggianos, The Counter Burger Bar, In and Out Burger, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Pasta Pomodoro, Le Pain Quotidien/Brioche Doree(French Bakery), Aroma Coffe(Israeli Coffee Chain), Peets Coffee and Tea, The Coffee Bean, Pinkberry Ice Cream, Coldstone Creamery etc.

Also have a Barnes and Noble Bookstore, The First Apple Store At Sea with classes on how to use your Apple Products and buy the latest and greatest products, H&M etc.

Possibly you can hook up with Westfield and create a mall on board with stores, restaurants. AMC could run your Movie Theater etc.

Have a Casino 100 percent non-smoking, an area on the ship where you cannot smoke on your balcony away from any smoke area, non-smoking in all indoor venues and have a special room for smokers that is filtered out.

Also allow you to bring on your own wine, alcohol soda etc.

Oh and Mini Foyers on the stateroom levels with 6 elevators each side and a window facing out to the ocean

the-standard-new-york_elevators_high-rez.jpg

Like this layout with a window to the ocean, so people in interior rooms don't have to climb to the pool deck or the promenade deck to see the ocean outside or the port they are at

Hi all

This project might give RCI an opportunity to introduce some unique concepts that are not yet available on ships (to the best of my knowledge anyway!:)

It was be great to have an "Adult Activity Centre", similar to a kids club concept where people who are caring for an older person or a person with a disability can leave them with trained staff for a period of time. The centre could incorporate activities and even provide live entertainment for guests. This would enable people who are in a caring role to have some respite whilst on their holiday. I have spoken to a few people in this situation who would welcome this concept.

Also, rather than have large main dining rooms, have 3 or 4 restaurants offering different styles of food and different menu options, which are all included in the cruise fare. That way cruisers get variety in their surroundings as well as the food, without paying extra.

I also like the idea others have mentioned re offering more outdoor dining options, with ocean views.

Cheers

Amanda

I woould LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a specialty restuarant that is all you can eat seafood. I mean why has no one thought of this? You are on the ocean, what better place to have crab legs and stuff? I would eat there at least twice on a cruise.

  1. 24 Hour dining venue, similar to NCL
  2. No smoking throughout the ship
  3. Expand on the sauna/steam in the changing rooms, perhaps take it to another level with different rooms
  4. Love the idea of a lazy river
  5. Larger gym - always busy on sea days
  6. Outdoor dining at the Windjammer
  7. Outdoor dining at some other dining rooms
  8. More special dining areas, similar to the great selection on NCL's larger ships
  9. Something like the Courtyard Villa area NCL have
  10. Tea & Coffee facilities in the cabins
  11. Adult only ship would be nice
  12. More post dinner shows (we eat late)

In the theater I would like bench style seating (with backs on them - of course) and little tables in front of you instead of indivdual seating. On our first (and last) Carnival cruise the theater was set up this way and it was really comfortable.

Great ideas, folks. Here are my my dream ship features:

  1. Outdoor Movie Screen showing mixture of movies all day and night
  2. No smoking any place on the ship
  3. Larger sauna/steam in the changing rooms
  4. Larger gym
  5. I'll vote for the lazy river too
  6. Glass and openness like Radiance Class
  7. Ample room and well-designed Windjammer (often it is too congested when you are trying to get food; then you can't find a place to sit)
  8. Outdoor dining at the Windjammer

Being a active old guy, I would like more active sports for older people not put put golf, not active enough, basket ball well ok but but.

I would suggest, having Pickle ball on board, for those who do not know it is pickle ball is a racquet sport, played in many retirement communities, it uses some thing like a hard wiffle ball, and solid rackets and maybe they would be able to have two courts on the existing basketball court, it is sort of like big time ping pong LOL PS there area variations of it some similar to my sport of Racquet ball.

Kid proof elevators, LOL that will not let you punch in a floor going up while going down LOL Actually a trick I learned on the last cruise LOL.

Yes, more outside dining

A little info from the Captain, the Sunshine class will fit through the Panama canal, will have removable roofs for the pool areas and thus be the long awaited all weather all venue or world cruise ships.
