What would you like to see on Royal Caribbean's new ship(s)?

I dont know if there is a reason why they are not on ships but I would like to see escalators, they take up the same space as a couple of lifts and you dont have the wait factor, plus its quicker/easier than walking up 6 flights of stairs.

Open deck space on one of the lower decks. I like to sit near the ocean and listen to the sound of the waves created by the ship. I have been on the Grandeur and Enchantment and they have the space but not enough of the right kind of deck chairs.

Also, a casino section that is totally non smoking with separate HVAC system.

Happy Sails to You

The word is quickly spreading that Royal Caribbean has signed a letter of intent to build its next generation of new cruise ships. (At 158,000 tons and carrying 4,100 passengers, they're more Freedom-sized than Oasis-sized.) We're curious: What would you like to see RCI include on these new ships in terms of dining, public spaces, activities, etc.?

Well RCCL has Lost me already if they do another Freedom-sized ship Too crowed.

I think the ship should be 1025 feet with a beam of 160 feet and a draft of 25 with 14.5 decks at about 140,000 Tons with 3200 passengers.

RCCL NEEDS TO GO SMALLER WHERE IT CAN GO MORE PLACES AND NOT BE LOCKED BY BRIDGES.

Hmmm, I did not experience that at all on Freedom this past week and being crowded really had me worried!

In fact, it seemed no more crowded on there than it was on Monarch or Radiance to me and believe me, being in a wheelchair full time crowds can really be an issue! I experienced no elevator crowding either.

All cruise ships are crowded in certain areas at certain times like when a show lets out etc but I guess I just disagree with the general statement that Freedom class ships are "too crowded"

Well, I just discovered this thread today and after reading through all the posts, I felt I had to chime in! :-)

I agree with many things that others said, but I think I have a few ideas that I haven't seen posted.

  • Faster and cheaper internet
  • Better book selections in the library and add magazines
  • Heated pool
  • One covered pool
  • Dress code enforcement on at least one level of the MDR for those who like the full cruise experience
  • Bowling alley
  • Pool tables (these may be on some of the ships but just not the ones I've been on)
  • More ballroom dancing options
  • A country bar with line dancing and lessons
  • More to do on the Royal Promenade, as well as some views of the outside and maybe a sit-down restaurant
  • A laser tag facility
  • Educational classes like Princess has (cooking classes, lectures on a wide range of subjects, ceramics, card making, choir, etc)
  • At least one completely clean comedy show - maybe even improv
  • A small ledge in the shower for easier leg shaving
  • Bathroom light switch on the inside instead of the outside

T pools ...free in solarium

Aft pools

Area to eat outdoors with lots of tables

Bigger balconies with tables and chairs for leisure breakfast

Longer itineraries

Comedy club ..early show ...family style

Late show ...adult content ...love those on carnival

Great to laugh before bed

LOVE this idea!!!

I also agree with those that mentioned single cabins at no surcharge! Definitely agree with that!

Since there are always arguments about dress code, make the dining room on deck 3 per se' for casual dining....dress shorts, jeans, sneakers..etc and make the others smart casual.... dockers, capri pants, polo shirts. This way there is NO question about dress codes. It would have to all MTD on deck 3 though so they know how many folks to expect. Lets face it...sometimes we dont mind dressing up and other times, Id love to go to dinner in dress shorts and a polo...but I dont I wear dockers...:)

Id love to see Para Sailing off the back of the ship. They can use a hydraulic winch and a platform for safety

A few more elevators would be nice...or make them childproof so all decks cant be pushed at once...lol

Only fresh water pools

Supply fruit tarts ever day in Windjammer and not just Embarkation Day...:p

Rooms could be just a tad bigger

If they can capture the essence (and elegance) of the Radiance class, then I'm onboard. If they end up with a downsized Oasis class (or an oversized Freedom-class), then I'll pass. I sail to connect with the ocean. If I want to book a hotel with a mall down the middle, I can do that without leaving town;)

Wishful thinking but,

-24hr donut station. Seriously.

-Self serve soda drink refill stations (free)

-Staff who knows the menu (my waiter had to keep going to the kitchen to get an answer for simple stuff). Yes, I mean you Allure of the seas.

-AC that works and doesn't catch on fire. Yes, I mean you Allure of the seas (8636).

-Customer Service staff that can actually help you. (disappointed here)

-No tips-include in fare if you wish

-Stores with stuff you can afford or actually use. Not that $10 crap on the promenade that people elbow you in the face to get to.

-Photo gallery like the one on oasis class. No more seaching for your photo. (massive plus for us)

-Larger windjammer. Oasis class FAILED here miserably. Learn from Indpendence Class.

-More movies on outside screens. And would it hurt to offer some free popcorn?

-Photographers who aren't rude and embarassing. Most were nice, but a few were awful.

-Don't become a disney cruise (no slides). Stay classy, but better.

I know everything is speculation right now, but take a look at the artist's rendering on this website. I cannot register for the full article, but the drawing looks awesome!

Notice the cantilevered hot tubs are there like the Freedom Class, but the Glassed in Solarium at the front of the ship above the bridge is very much like the Oasis. The signature Viking Crown Lounge gets an update too!

There are two mini-humps as well as the signature helipad too. I know it is speculation, but this may well be the concept drawing of the Sunshine Class. It looks different than other renderings I have seen and is clearly a RCI style of ship! What do you all think?

It even seems to have the baby blue lower hull paint job, solar panels on top of the Viking Crown Lounge, and a covered area between the pool deck and the Viking Crown Lounge.

It looks like a photo of Oasis/Allure to me.
